Lost Odyssey official thread

I'm only an hour or so into it, but I really like what I've seen so far.

I'm not wild about the Dreams bits and will probably go with Rappa's strategy of watching them all at once later. As well-written as they may be, they're intrusive and manage to grind the game to a screeching halt. Also, some of the the words tend to blend into the background graphics and become unreadable. Still, I can't get upset if that's my biggest gripe with a game. Heh.

i am in love with this game, im near the end of disc 3 right now and ive loved every bit of it.
The dreams are an awesome addition being as it lets you use your own imagination to create the scene instead of just showing you how they imagined it, The sound effects and music add to that imagination. at first i thought it was a lame boring idea but now im 100% happy they decided to do it that way!
I read them as they come up because they tend to hold some important information in some of them that ties into the game story, like the story of Aneira, Sed and Seth being easily the basis of her character.
i wrote a lengthy review but i dont have net at home till this week i hope

Love this game.. Picked it up Friday and have about 9 hours into it already. Story is great and the graphics are awesome. 9.5/10... Finally a real(JP style) RPG on the 360.

hurray. a reason for me to dig out my 360 from my storage cupboard!

This is gonna be great, I'm buying this as soon as it comes out in the UK in 11 days time

Weird exploit I guess? In disc 2 you can go to Numara Atoll. You can use Seal, Poison, and Grounda on that Hell Shaker, who won't resist Seal. He has over 9000 hp's, use Seal first, then poison him. Cast Grounda on him till the dies. You'll gain a level every fight till around 49 lmao. Also the silver keylon's are there, and if you have gamble, you can one shot them. They give 8 SP per kill.

Loving this game. I really like the way the seems to discourage overleveling (at least where I am) and make the bosses actually quite difficult.

anyone notice how neglecting a character is easy to make up for?

I never once played as Ming till they forced me to, and Jansen was level 32 and she was level 20, after every battle she gained a level and caught up to jansen before he gained a level and a half, pretty cool.
Im lovin the skill link for immortals, lets you stock up on skills you could need in the future,
Im currently stuck on disc three at the magic ice monster....How the hell do you break his reflect?! the whole party is mages except for mack and dispel isnt doing shit lol. Gonna look that up here for advice before i head back home!

But i swear, This feels like an FF game through and through, and i mean the TRUE FF games!

Why would you neglect using Ming? Her magic skills are awesome. :/

lol Ming and Sarah are must IMO (especially since this game is magic heavy). They both have way better stats then Jansen or Cooke. For the dirty work, I use all 4 immortals, of course after i've learned all the skills I can for that level cap.

Using all of the immortals and one human is what I have been doing so far once I got all of them. It seems to me that Ming is better as a black magic user and Sarah white magic. At least from watching the numbers the two put out in different fights. I wish steal worked better the ratio on use to success is not very good. I've gone 1/10 on some of the guards in the Experiment Staff for the gate key, was not fun.

Actually Sarah has the highest Magic damage!

That's only if you can kill it fast enough before it can use ground shaker. It still does about 800-1k damage to everyone and there isn't a way to get around that unless you get really lucky and he just doesn't use it.

If you start out there at level 27, groundshaker won't wipe your whole group. Usually it would hit kaim for about 900, Seth for the same, and the back row for about 400, since GC gauge is full. I think I only wiped once there lol. My tatic is, Kaim cast poison, seth cast concentrate on Ming, Ming cast Seal, Sarah cast Shine, next member either Zeypher or Gamble. Next turn have Kaim cast concentrate on Sarah, and sit back and watch as poison deals 1100 dmg a round and Sarah and Ming destory it with Grounda lol.

Thats true, one didn't wipe me out, but the next 3 turns when that was all he did and zephyra couldn't keep up with him. I was dead pretty quick, but i haven't really given it a try since i picked up sarah.

Just got my 500 perfects achievement, and i'm not even done with disc 2. Whoo hoo!

Holy hell, you guys weren't kidding when you said the Dreams had a lot of emotion in them.
Just picked this up today.

I can't seem to get a good feel with the timing on that first ring. I keep getting 'good'. Have no clue if I'm holding it on too long, or too short? Or if it's just supposed to be hard with the first one.

EDIT: Nevermind. Once you get that first one, it's a lot easier. lol
Was letting go too early for the record.

My god i'm 85 hours into the game due to the extra content and that I play games the first time through with no strategy guides or internet guides. God I love this game. Its nice that an RPG of this quality hit our shores.

My team is beyond broken atm lol, I dont wanna spoil anything for anyone about what abilities they have but lemme just say that the humans and extra content make immortals broken without question by the end.

you guys need to get it now!. Jizzing comes with the game (If you're a turnbase fan). Not going to gloat around saying "I have it, It rulez and I rulz lolz", but hell, this game IS Pure win.

God damn I wonder how much I have left in my bank account or I can persuade my dad to buy this as he's been looking for a game to play.

This most definitely is the RPG to buy in my opinion romp. Though the game is cut scene crazy at times it certainly is a game made of win. And also for the record Jansen and Sed > All.
