Okay. So why do people tell me that Warrior's fight for Maat is the easiest? I'm already 0/4. Although the first three I know what mistakes I made. Fourth was just plain bullshit on his part.

What really got me pissed off about Maat last night was that I spent a few hours going after a Warrior's Testimony. Not only that, but I got a hedgehog pie for 70k and a stack of sleeping potions for 70k for it. So after I lost after not really making any mistakes, I just wanted to fucking scream.

http://ffxi.swishiee.com/video/omfwtfmaat.wmv

First two times I tried I did 1h axe which was stupid on my part. And the last time I forgot to use my food.

But this time I'm level 70, GAxe skill is a little behind, but nothing that would hurt for this fight. I have decent gear for Attack and STR. I JUST DON'T GET WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED AND THE OLD FUCKER IS PISSING ME OFF. X(

(If you watch the video, the voice is Alyada in Vent. You can't hear me though.)

dunno, this fight's a joke, I did it twice, once at 70 and once again at 72

my g.axe was capped, raging rush > raging rush, couple hits, he was dead

make sure you get 300% tp before you engage, raging rush has a large TP modifier for damage at 300%, and with mighty strikes, it's ridiculously powerful

pop a TP wing after that, RR again, and he'll give up, if not then just a couple more melee attacks and he'll give up

the fight isn't hard, /shrug

edit: just watched the video

you got really unlucky, that's all I can say

bring hi pots with you next time and spam them until he gives up, at least you'll keep yourself alive (unless he asuran fists you)

yeah maat blows i did 5 runs on him as rdm. i think i used meds for 1Million on those. 2 x asuran hurts ; ;

Sucks, you were like 1 hit away it seems, I would grab a reraise next time, that should do it. I had a friend do everything you did and die just like you, then when he got up and used a hi-pot he pulled out his axe from and distance and took a pot shot at him with his x-bow just to make him run over before he hit him with his gaxe. Figures that would land and be what kills the bastard.

No Blink Band? No Carbonara for HP + attack bonus? Vile/Vile +1 for backup HP? The ENM60 earring for DEF+32?

You went in unprepared for a terrible second Raging Rush, that's why you lost. Nothing that can't be corrected, just don't say you did 'nothing wrong' when there are some obvious things that you didn't do to make the fight easier.

To be fair, Cubs, Maat's been mashed many times before Carbonara and Pulling The Strings have been available, labeling them missing as unprepared is silly. They help, yes, but they've never been required before.

Well back in my day we needed to beat Maat at 43 without weapons or armor and we had to run to him barefoot in the snow uphill both ways you whippersnapper

To be fair, all of these things have been implemented to help make what is already one of the easiest Maat fights out there even easier, and not taking advantage of what the game is offering you is silly at best.

With all do respect to you Cubs, you could've been a little nicer in your post. Swishiee doesn't have a whole lot of money to burn, and considering, not everyone does.

In my experience with friends and watching people on QCDN, Maat fights are largely up to chance. Even the supposed 'easiest' fight still has a 50/50 chance if Maat decides to beat the tar out of you. I remember in one of my own Maat fights that he did Asuran Fists to me twice in a row, ripping my stoneskin and killing me completely. No amount of gear, meds, or skill could've allowed me to survive from that.

And Swishiee, we'll get you another test. Keep on trucking buddy.

That sucks for you ; ; must be some bad luck or the will of some cruel gods that's keeping you down. I watched my irl friend go in and kill him in 3-4 hits... that's where the easy rep comes from. >.>;

Anyone know if Maat is stronger on a given elemental day? That might account for the various degrees of difficulty he seems to present.

I tried matt at 66 on rdm :^|. I went in with a few potions and food. After I entered bc, I buffed up and sleep/dispel maat. He wakes up early and I tired to bind, gravity and finally tried to sleep him again (5times). Maat resisted every single sleep/sleep2/bind/gravity and I ended up running in circles till I was punched to death. Being 66, I relied on my equip to enfeeb him, but forgeting that I just swapped to int gear which is when he resisted every enfeeb I casted.

I let Halifirien borrow my blink band, with only 1 missing charge on it. I told him to use it for his Maat fight, and pay it forward! Talk to him about it, and I'm pretty sure he will let you use it, unless he has passed it on to another by now :P.

I wasn't aware being poor was suddenly an excuse to fail. Not to mention at Swish's current attack rating (335? The video's grainy, but I think it's 33X) a 15k Carbonara would give him the same +attack and only 2 less STR than the 70k Hedgehog Pie he bought, with the tradeoff of about 100 more HP. Take the 55k gil you just saved and put it towards a 70k Blink Band, use one, maybe two charges on it and bazaar the remainder for 60-65k. You're really not spending any more gil than the current setup - in the end you may save some.

And sure, Vile and Vile+1 are both pretty expensive nowadays, but let's be honest - if you're level 70 you have the ability to farm up a few hundred thousand to get what you need. And when I watch a vid of someone failing and saying they did nothing wrong... sorry, but I'm not going to just join in on a pity party circlejerk when being honest and giving some advice on how to win the next fight would be more productive.

I'm an Asshole! This game is ultra easy and noone ever should fail at anything. If you do it's your own fault. Ape tit.

I'm startin to think you may need to sit next to vang on the "I need a Hug" bench.

Swishiee look me up tonight i'll also help you get another test.

I heard you arent supposed to buff up as rdm for maat.
Cause ... he'll do the same.
