Has anyone here done SNM Maat at 75? All the strats I saw are for G5 and most rely on the 2hour.

So I tried this today, figuring it shouldn't be hard without 2hour since I can just use the the 70 BPs. I go in, use RR, Earthen ward, and Aerial armor, and run up to Maat. (Since he doesn't aggro, I wanted to make sure if I pull hate from activating a BP, I won't lose my BP due to him being out of range.) Predator Claws did 700ish which brings Maat to a little over half HP, but right after PC lands, he uses AF right away before I run out of range. I didn't have shell IV on so I took 500ish dmg leaving me with 160 HP (one hit from Maat). When I resummon Garuda on the other end he hit me before my second PC landed. (careless on my part to not bring elixers or potions) I RR, but he has already regen to full. Garuda being a bitch did a 100dmg PC, and with 3 mins left Maat just spammed Asuran Fists, and killed Garuda pretty fast. Needless to say I lost and just barely ran out in time.

My question is, does he AF right away, or was I just really unlucky? All the vids I saw, no one else got AF to the face. Was it that I took him down to ~50% too fast?

Not that I've ever done this, it just sounds like you took him to 50% before you could get out of range.

Better luck next time Alex ^^(if you try it again.)

I haven't done the SMN Maat, but I have done the lvl 60 cap fight Pulling the Strings, and I'll bet they're a good bit easier.

Astral Flow is probably the way to go, because it is very consistant and hard to resist, not to mention hurting/killing the avatar especially if you use the right element against it. You would need one Yagudo Drink (lasts as long as AF), and 3-4 Hi-Ethers to help charge your mp while you wait on the next chance to astral flow.

In regards to getting hate, you should be able to assault it on him, and hit off Judgement Bolt (or whatever 2 hour you use) and not pull any hate yourself. But make sure you astral flow before you do this because Astral Flow DEFINATLY will pull hate on you. I use this same strategy with the Shikaree's X's Knife fight, and I dont get hate upon activating Judgement Bolt.

After your Bolt, run as far away as you can. His chamber is plenty big (about same size as 60 cap arena). Even IF your BP is not ready, if you're far enough away and your avatar has a chance to strike Maat, you are hate-free. Then let him have it again, I'd assume dead or almost dead at this point. The second you hit that BP:R a second time, jet off away from him again even if you think it will kill it and get ready for the final one. Maybe if you think you might die, could RR and be sure to DoT him (again, not sure if that part would work) but you could probably take that last chunk off with PC or whatever you have open to you.

The ethers were to charge your mp up faster, Elemental Siphon isn't much an option cause it would take too much time when he'd be running at you. You need about 150ish MP at lvl 70 to get an AF nuke to go off.

Anyway, GL! (Try this on the 60cap fight, it's basically free, typically need 12k gil to get in and you could get an astral pot - which buffs magic damage as long as they're out. Perhaps put Shock Spikes on Ramuh before you send him in for first Judgement Bolt, too.)

0/2 now ; ;

This time I went in, ran up to him, and hit Nightmare, but it missed Maat, got his avatar but my avatar decided to go hit his carby -.-

so only thing I could do was use Netherblast then run to the other side, realeased when BP was up and got garuda, PC him for 500 but him and his avatar were after me and once again got AF'ed to the face.

I'm thinking what went wrong this time. 1) I hit Nightmare instead of hitting attack on maat first? and using PC again to cause him to use AF again, but with a new avatar out, how would I both to have hate my avatar and not me?

Twin: If I use my 2hour, wouldn't that have the same effect at me using PC? like bringing him down too fast and he uses his 2hour

You should have assaulted Maat before initiating the Nightmare pact.
That way even if it misses Maat you won't have to bother with the avatar.
However I would not count on sleeping either Maat or his Avatar.

That said.
This fight can be done without Astral Flow pretty easy.

You need luck with the Blood Pacts connecting and be sure you are well away from Maat when he Astral Flows.

One thing you were unlucky with on this fight is that Maat had Carby out.
There is no avatar strong enough to resist Searing Light and with Diabolos and Fenrir it's hit or miss but more miss when it comes to resisting Searing Light.

The range for smaller mobs where you can assault is 17' the range for Astral flow is 30'.
So the second you give your avatar the command to Blood Pact Maat you have 3~5 seconds to run like hell and get out of AF range.

*Important* Be sure maat AF's after your first BP, if he does not get out and get a new testimony because the chance to get enough distance again is slim.

Once you've got that done with it's a walk in the park from there as long as your other Blood Pact connects.
Taking Maat down should take no more then 2 or 3 70 Pacts depending on which avatar you use.

Before his astral flow it's pretty important to use the avatar which is strong to the avatar Maat uses.
This way you have a little more time to run away when he astral flows as you avatar is likely to resist it.

After he's Astral flowed you can pretty much pick any avatar of choice.
