OK Can anyone elaborate on the brd maat strategies? I've heard of 2 strats so far that I cant seem to find anywhere now.

One is the basic melee Maat down strategy. MIx in SV paeon ect blah blah blah.
The other is to focus completely on dmg reduction gear instead of DD/eva gear and eventually have him stop with requiem DOT taking him down.

Are there any tips on gear i should take? Here's what i'm planning on attempting him with once i buy it all/ get peices from mules.

Food: tavnazian tacos
Weapon: Joyuse or earth staff depending on the strategy
ranged: whatever instrument I have that gives the most eva
Head: Emperor's hairpin
Neck: evasion torque
earings: melody
Body: Scorpion harness
Gloves:undecided. Rse perhaps?
rings: undecided
back: Cheviot TP phase. Amemit+1 during WS
Waist: gleemans or buy some RSE?
Legs: undecided
Feet:Vampire boots?

I enter. use the opo neckclase/blink band strat that we all know and love.(probably opening with a sword for spirit's within) SV paeonx2 then elegy maat and requiem him too.
Rinse.. repeat..pray?

If I go at nighttime that gives me about:
10-30% dmg reduction minimum
+45~ eva
100ish extra HP?

not a bard but if you're looking for -dmg% gear

the darksteel harness gear (lv 65) is the way to go, I've used it when soloing on rdm everypiece adds up.

Imho i think the -dmg% wins hands down over SH if it wasnt for the SH acc. you're fighting something that will hit you fairly well so I'd recommend it.

Unfortunately the whole set isnt all in stock at the same time, at least try to get the body and leg piece they give the most bang after that grab the rest to compliment and add onto the set

I did the evasion setup and it worked out pretty good. Wherever you cannot put evasion, put HP. I went 1/1 on him. Another thing that he does which is very annoying is finale. So make sure you do your buffs in the order of most important to least important and then add in a hp drink followed by a juice. When he does use finale he will take away your juice and not any other important buff.

Bring your standard icrus, Hp pots, etc and just wack him to death.

All dispels, Maat's finale included, hit a random buff. Putting on a few pointless things (for example, a juice even though you have no sub and thus no use for MP) will help your odds that it'll hit that instead of a bard buff, but that's about it.

My advice is a combination of the two methods: requiem will provide most of the damage and your melee will speed it up. Wear armor with decent defensive stats (defense, -dmg%, vit, evasion) and if it happens to provide decent offensive stats too (for example, O-hat) so much the better. And, of course, cap your evasion and get your skill in weapon of choice reasonably close to cap. (Dagger, sword, and staff are all viable; club not recommended.) Use a weapon with good DMG/delay rather than one with stat boosts. Oh, and eat a taco.

If you *have* a Joyeuse, it's awesome for that fight... if you don't, I wouldn't hold up on beating Maat until such time as you can organize getting one though.

Really vil? I always thought that it hit the last buff. It worked out exactly like that for me. Guess I was lucky or something

I don't remember my exact equip, but I remember scorpion harness and a couple AF pieces.
I already remember winning on the run where he didn't use Asurean Fists.

Eva and ACC gear is a huge help.

I did Maat as taru brd. The one thing I will say to add in is this. Get the most expensive a'laut juice that you can. As taru he was hitting me for 50-70 a hit. But with SV Carnage elegy on him it took forever between hits. And with SV x2 Paeon and the regen juice you'll have 25 hp a tick regen. You'll get 2-3 ticks in between each of his swings. When I finished the fight I had almost full hp, which was just short of 800.

Make sure you don't sleep past 200% with the opo necklace.

Here's another tip. When you get into the match. Don't wait long, but you'll want to watch and see what songs he buffs himself up. If you want to spare the time, wait until you see him use etudes on himself to start with. Then hit your SV, paeon, elegy, requiem. Then run in, melee to 300% then hit him with the Spirits.

I don't suggest using the staff. You can, and with all the regen you'll have it'll counter it almost perfectly. Unless you have staff capped I don't suggest it. Biggest thing I could see a staff for is in case he tosses out the feared Azuran Fist. or w/e the ability was lol.

Make sure you use that regen drink though. That was a huge life saver and made the fight easy as hell.

I used full evasion with Sword around level 160~ and was level 69. Icarus wing, hi-pots, evasion food (the pumpkins), capped evasion, and the evasion gear form my ninja (SH, evasion skill earring, dodge earring, and what not.)

I used sleeping pots to get 100% TP and watched what he buffed himself. Anything that can be dangerous toward you (str, dex, agi, vit etudes, minuet, madrigal, evasion song) dispel. Otherwise leave it on. Selbina milk is good incase he dispels you.

2hr'd when I was ready and used the dragonfoe mambo and madrigal and went at it. End the end I used 2 hi-pots and he hit me only twice. Only used combo for his WSs and I fell short by a few seconds to breaking the record.

Over prepare.

Even without the juice you should be getting 30 unless you're not using a Paeon +2 harp. (And considering that's +2 HP/tick, multiplied by 2 for 2 Paeons, and multiplied by 2 again for Soul Voice, the instrument makes an 8 HP/tick difference. You only get 22 HP/tick without it.)

Remember to Finale both of his songs when you engage him, and don't dispel junk like Etudes unless he puts up something nasty.

With your gear setup, you shouldn't lose. I fought him with my exp gear, a wing sword, and scorpion harness and beat him using the SV double Paeon strat.

Nah, I didn't use the the harp when I did it so I didn't get the 30 hp a tick. But still, adding in the juice is probably the safest route. That much regen combined with SV Elegy you'll get back almost every hit you take.

Well you can add juice (I should say, au laits; juices tend to be MP drinks) either way, but the harp's just sexy if you're gonna SV double Paeon yourself. :P
