Just looking to see if any veteran PLDs can offer some insight for the Maat fight. I'm at lvl 69, with 15k tnl and hopefully by next week i'll be at lvl 70 with buffer XP. I'm trying to make some preparations, and have asked a few friends in game but would like to also hear from anyone that has taken Maat as PLD. I figure the more I know, the better prepared I can be.

So far I was thinking of bringing my STR+3 rings, my ATK+4 or 5 earrings (Fang Earring?), Spike Necklace, AF gear, Royal Knights Belt +2, Gluttony Sword, Admiral's Shield.

I will have an Opo-opo necklace with sleep pots + an icarus wing for TP in the beginning, I was thinking of bringing meat mithkabob for food (chief if I have any)

So any recommendations/suggestions? (Keep in mind I do not have hauby, SH or other expensive DD gear because PLD is my main, therefore my earnings have gone into PLD gear)

Thanks in advance :)

I did this a while back, and it seems like you're heading in the right direction for your fight. Just make sure that along with what you have listed, you fill up the remainder of your inventory with a few Persikos Au Lait and Yagudo Drinks, and the remainder with Hi-Potions. They help tremendously, and if you don't use all of it, you can always sell it :)

Ahh yes, completely forgot to add those to the list. I plan on taking drinks and a few potions. But that brings up another question, what are the best cost effective medicines? I haven't been in many BCNMs so i'm really only familiar with Ethers and Hi-Potions. Are there better items that restore better but aren't usually jacked up in prices?

GALAK and Elvan have it easy 300 tp SW and if he gets to hard can 2hr i feel sorry for the poor tarus.
Go in a SH if u can and as much ACC gear will help alot.
expect that just Sleep 100 then melle to 200 then IW for 300tp and SW

I was advised to use Vorpal Blade instead of Spirits Within, as the time it would take for me to reach 300% TP might take a bit. Any other thoughts on which would be the better WS to use? At full HP my Spirits Within can do 638 dmg, however thats only at full HP and chances are i'll get in at least one hit after I toss a good cure on myself so likely my dmg would be around 638.

And yeah, I know for sure that my body gear will be my AF. I can change to something that has ACC or STR, however as I said, i'm not able to get a SH or Hauby, nor do I have the intention as my main is PLD so it would be a waste when I need to be saving up for things like Gigant Mantle etc for end game PLD gear.

I did this like 2 years ago so I can't remember all of it:

As a hume I went in full AF, Shield Torque, Gluttony Sword, Drone Earrings, 3 Sleep Pots+Opo to start at 75% TP, some Yagudo Drinks, and a bunch of Hi-pots.

Things I took but didn't use were Ethers or Hi-Ethers.

I used Vorpal Blade WS. I didn't 2 hour (I read if you 2 hour, after it comes off he would spam Asuran Fists...might or might not be true). When he 2 houred I spammed Hi-pots. Rest of the time just used Cure 3 when needed and WS at 100TP.

Its been forever since I did that...I went at Lvl70 and beat it first try. I think thats everything.

Good luck!

EDIT: Rings and Food I can't remember. I think probably defense? D:

I did this around 20 days ago, and I found it was nowhere as hard as I had thought it would be. You asked what would be the most cost-effective meds to use, and I agree that Hi-Potions and Hi-Ethers are the way to go. A single persikos au lait will last you the entire 10mins, so you'll only need one. I didn't have a SH at the time (still don't) but a decent alt is the Jaridah Peti (HP -25, Accuracy +5, Attack +5, Ranged Accuracy +5) Yea -25hp sucks but as you're an elvaan it shouldn't hurt as badly as it did me. I did bring 3 yag drinks with me, but I was so nervous I totally forgot to use them. Granted at level 70 I have 495mp, so...yea. Spirits Within may seem like a viable ws to use, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you try to sleep to 300%tp it'll take to long. You can use either Vorpal Blade or Swift Blade, I went for Swift because I've found that VB and SB do about the same dmg(for me anyways), and imo SB looks so much cooler. As for gear, lets see if I remember everything..

Food: Meat Mithkabob
Weapon: Company Sword
Shield: General's Shield
Ammo: Bibiki Seashell
Head: ...forget, prolly AF
Body: Jaridah Peti
Hands: Ogygos's Bracelets (I think, one of those types)
Legs: man my memory sucks, maybe the Royal Squire's Breeches+1
Feet: AF
Back: Behemoth Mantle
Waist: Life Belt
Neck: Spike Necklace
Ring: Sun Ring x2
Earring: Hospitaler Earring, Assault Earring

I waited untill I was level 70 with a buffer before trying this, and as I said earlier, it was much easier than I thought.
I made a post of what I did for the fight in longer detail here

Stay calm!, remember not to ws when maat casts flash on you (aka don't hit your first ws right at the start, maat'll prolly flash you right off the bat), flash on maat won't last anymore than ~.5sec, so don't count on it to save space for a Cure IV, hell, not even a Cure III. Create an entire, special macro set for the fight (before starting :P) for spamming items if you need to, and don't forget to keep stabbing him! Oh, and I kited his 2h, but it prolly didn't make much difference.

Sorry for the long post, I wanted to get as much information into this as I could.
Hope this helps, and best of luck! :D

Good thing im a Galak from Baskot....

Pick up hi pots +3 they sell for the same price so are a much better bang for the buck.

My guess would be sleep 100%(or more) TP, WS (Vorpal blade probably) pop an icarus, try SC or use another high damage WS (I don't know if Vorpal > Vorpal works) and then just spend the rest of the fight taking whatever maat has and throwing it back at him. Maybe make sure to try pop your 2hr in sync with his, much like the thieve's maat fight. After that just try stay alive and still doing some damage to him. As stated before Vile elixers, hi potions and drinks are all your friends, and a blink band etc doesn't go amiss at the start of the fight.

One of the hardest parts of any maat fight is to just stay cool and calm. It's easy to make mistakes when you're anticipating something so much. Good luck :)

My advice?

Don't let him drop-kick you in the face. ; ;

He did it to me.. It kinda made me feel short..

I beat him first try; in front of 4 RL friends at that.. I had to beat him or face humiliation.. "OMG YOU GOT YOUR ASS KICKED BY AN OLD MAN!! LOLOLOL"

But seriously, I thought he was a joke. He gave up with me at 1/3~1/2 HP and I had completely forgotten to use my Icarus wing that I had bought.. I forgot to use a lot of stuff actually, and I still had my Vile Elixer+1 that I bought as a last resort.. Just stay calm and yeah.. And no, he doesn't spam Asuran fists if you use Invincible, he only used Dragon Kick once on me.. Stick with Vorpal Blade, use it whenever you have TP. I did this fight about a year ago, but I'm lazy and quit about.. 3x in between there and now(just to prove how lazy, I just hit 72 last night. XD )

Lol, cheater.... =)

Ok, so from the looks of it...

-Vile Elixir +, Hi-Potion +3, Icarus Wing, Yagudo Drink, Persiko au Lait are the items to buy.

-Don't use WS at the beginning as he will use his Flash, wait until after it wears

-Use Vorpal Blade (use opo-opo necklace + sleep pots at the beginning)

-Use shield bash on his Banish III

-Flash him if he 2hrs or is it Asuran Fists?

So next question: Is invincible used? Is there a recommended time when to use this? (I would guess if he pulls his Asuran Fists)

And I appreciate your offer Sphene, but i'm sure if I decide to go in with a Hauby that I can borrow one from a close friend. If for some reason that doesn't work, i'll take you up on the offer and find some gear to trade as collatoral, and of course i'll PM you with the time/date.

Aside from that, thanks for all the posts everyone. Appreciate the feedback, and it seems the main thing is not to stress because otherwise I run the risk of forgetting about my items, abilities etc.

Hopefully i'll bet at 70 by the end of the weekend, and i'll be wooping old man Maat's arse like there's no tomorrow! go DD PLD!!! lol

<3 meh Sphene...always so generous =D

(I hit 62 tonight, i hope youre gonna let me borrow that too, lol ^^)

Through my own research for my upcoming fight I have found much
the same things that have already been listed
zone in, take a nap for 100tp
then hit the old man as hard as you can. Pop an icky wing do it again.
then take what ever he tosses at you while dealing dmg all the while.
Invincible should be saved for when he uses Asuran Fist. From all I have read
the main thing is to keep your head and not panic.
I wish you all the luck Zerayla.

Pretty simple fight. The sleeping to 100 TP in the beginning is true, definately do that. When you run in, you should use Swift Blade over Vorpal unless you have some acc+ gear, because Swift will give you, on average, more generous numbers in terms of damage.

This fight really is quite simple as long as you keep your head on straight. The best reccomendation aside from standard use of meds(Yag drink after you cast a spell, etc..) is this: When he 2 hours, kite him around. Don't stand in his face, don't 2 hour in retalliation. 90% of the time he'll start casting Banish on you when you are out of his melee range, giving you time to run a bit more, and pop a med. When his 2 hour goes down, you can run in and finish him off easily. When I did this fight, I didn't 2 hour, and I had forgotten my Icarus Wing. If you bring an Icarus Wing as a last resort backup, you can't lose.

Just a tip though...don't pop the icarus wing if your hp is dropping rapidly as the icarus wing will pretty much make you unable to do anything else for a few seconds (seems like a lifetime) I tried to beat maat on my husbands monk and I was doing great...had done my 2nd ws and he yelled at me to pop the icarus wing (one more ws woulda finished maat off). Unfortunately Maat kicked my ass in the time it took me to consume the icarus wing. =( If i'd only popped the vile elixir first I woulda won damnit! lol
