lol i said i was cheap =P, i didnt wanna buy gear JUST for the fight, the jesters cape is from my BRD75 lol

also i would sudjest doing DEF rather than eva like i did, i just did eva cause of my merited eva from thief, and also cause i had eva neck and waist already, yet again, i did not wanna buy stuff with good def JUST for this fight.
 
I tried again saturday night. He One inch punch'd me for 200, which stunned me. Then immediately casted Banishga 3; I tried to get a cure off but with the 400 damage from Banishga 3; I was boned. Doesn't help that it switched to light day during the fight so his Banishga spanked the shit outta me. That was dumb on my part, should have waited.
 
at this point being so badley damaged u can pop 3 hi-potions in the time it takes to cast 1 cure3, and also youll get more HP out of it, and it wont be interupted nyo.
just pretend youre a nin and keep stoneskin and blink up, specially when he casts blink and stoneskin, and even haste, you can cast off aquaveil.
 
Yeah, I tried keeping blink up for his -ga spells. But no such luck. Banishga 3 woulda been nthing had blink been up.

Total times lost: 1 (I don't count it as a full loss though, I went in at like 3 AM for lulz with no items)
Nothing too fancy either, just AF and some meds.
Key thing is to do what works for you, not necessarily what works for someone else.
This was at 66, as well.

er huh? you must be referring to blink for his single target spells?
 
i've beaten Maat as a lv70 taru whm on the first try.
i'm surprised no one mentioned the most important thing about beating Maat as a whm, which is THE AMOUNT YOU'VE CURED.

these things are what i used (the importnat ones)
1. earth staff
2. light staff
3. phalanx rings x2
4. yagudo drinks
5. tav tacos (defense food)
6. ether, hi-ether

macros u need are:
1. cure 3 and cure 4
2. /item "Yagudo Drink" <me>
3. benediction
4. staff switching macros

basically i went in, dia Maat then "TURNED AROUND" and let him hit me.
i NEVER hit him once, therefore, he won't get any tp.

if you know how to time your cures (good plds would know) right, u shouldn't get interrupeted. basically, u start curing right before he hit you.

only switch to light staff when u use cures, other times, have earth staff at all times.

the only item i used were yagudo drinks and ethers. no hi-po, no wings needed.

i used benediction when he used asuran fist. and after i've cured myself enough, i won.

basically 3 major points:
1. go all out defense
2. don't hit him
3. time your cures

oh, and remember to test ur macros first before going in.

See, I cured well. I used potions. I wasn't hitting him, blinded anyway so I'd miss regardless. Though, my mistake. I benedictioned and removed my blind; stupid mistake there but whatever. I dunno, I'll figure something out. I don't have phalanx rings though; I'll ask Dreucent if he has any later. -.-;; I'm down to like 15k. ; ;

Btw: Anyone need teleports, /tell me. ^.~ Your money goes to the "Kotsu sucks too much to beat Maat" fund.
 
I beat Maat as lvl 70 Whm on my third try. I had Vile Elixer and Vile Elixer +1. I didn't use them but i had them.

I found running around teh BC makes it a little easier. For when he starts to cast spells it gives you a chance to cure yourself and gives you a few seconds by the time he runs to you.

I had Earth Staff, bat Earrings, and that's pretty much it for "noticeable" equipment. I had the basic Whm gear. I didn't use Bene. Though i did fully buff it when i entered. Stoneskin, Protect IV, Shell IV() Haste, and w/e. Rest to full(make sure to count the time, you only need to "fight" for 5 mins so rest up a bit.)

This was my strategy for beating Maat as WHM. I had to do it twice as the first time I timed out :mad: Took him on as 70whm.

Equipment really isnt that important as how u do this fight. I had Noble's Tunic and the rest was The Blessed gear. Earth Staff and the Bat Earrings plus a couple Blind Potions were the only out the oridinary WHM eq. I used a Tav Taco for the defense.

Statred the fight by casting Protect ans Shell on me Regen and went. Stoneskin is a waste of MP as u need to take a certain amount of damage. I was actually considering not using the Bat Earrings and using regular mage rings.

Items is the key. I brought about 10 Hi-Pots, and 4 Yag Drinks. That's about it. After the buffs I went and cast Paralyze on him. Can't remember if it stuck or not... :p And just let him hit me. Didn't engage or anything. Used big cures and hi-pots. Yag when i needed. Used Bene at the end for kicks.

Don't know how much damage u need to take from him or cure. But finished and was able to proceed. :biggrin:
 
Back when I fought maat..hi pots +3 were same price as regular hi-pots and don't take any longer to use.

I used most of the same items/techniques as most here but it took me five tries. Mostly because I'd panic. Keep moving, time your cures and most importantly stay calm. Try to think of it as any other fight and you'll succeed.
 
I timed out, too, so I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that's done that. I healed for over 4k HP by my calculations and still timed out. What I did do, though, was rework my macros a bit in the battlefield before starting, so that took up the better part of a minute. Obviously, that won't happen again. >_<

lol. Yeah, beat this a while ago. ^.~ Thanks to everyone for the help. Third time was the charm. 2 Yagudo drinks, 2 hi-potions, 2 ethers, 1 vile elixer. No 2 hours, AF for the most part. Earth staff, bat earrings x 2, 1 blind potion. I wonz
