Cube Mode, with 3D Windows.

It looks choppy because it was in mid-motion when I took the screenshot :x

If I had a video capture card, I'd have youtubed it for all of you to see :)

I'm proud of my week's worth of work.

You caught my interest. Teach me how to be like you :<
Oh, and does it run FFXI? >>;

It doesn't run FFXI *yet* (I doubt it ever will), and I don't know anyone to have gotten it to load past the PlayOnline Viewer, even in Wine.

I'm unsure why it doesn't work; I think it's something to do with FFXI being treated as a terminal server app.

Otherwise, Compiz-Fusion comes preloaded in Ubuntu 7.10, the 3d Windows plugin does not.

Get an old-ass laptop, load it on there, and have your way with it. I learned on a 1999-top-of-the-line IBM 600x for most of my Linux fun.

Also, Ubuntu runs directly off the CD, so you can get a feel for it without even installing it.

If you were being sarcastic :p you suck :D

But all I have is a new-ass laptop ._.
And no sarcasm for reals. Vista pisses me off at every turn, but it runs FFXI, so...

Goodwill ftw? They normally have old laptops. Hell, use an old desktop, it'd work also.

For Compiz though, you'll need a fairly decent graphics card to handle it.

Tutorials on activating it are all over the webs.

edit: setup is different for each type of card :x

not sure if this works anymore (late entry on 10/22 said it wasnt for one person), but you may have more luck

Hell, I know it works on Cedega. However, Cedega requires an additional monthly fee to run.

If I want to pay $5 more a month to play FFXI, I'll get an Xbox 360 :D

Sorry about my misinformation though. FFXI *can* work on Linux, it just takes a hefty piece of non-free software that forked from Wine and ended up making profit.

In the Linux world, the formula is:

-Have idea
-Make software
-???

Two possible outcomes:
-Profit
or
-GNU it
