I don't know why I have never seen one of these threads before. This is probably one of those little things that pisses me off teh most in party.

SOOOOO many people out there feel the need to say something in party chat in every single macro...

So take a moment to look at your own macros. If it says something in party chat, think to yourself "Is this worth telling my party?"

Do we need to see two messages each time you whm start curing the tank? Or each time you nuke? NO.

The only things you should be mentioning in party chat are things that require coordination of other party members.

A few examples-
Weapon Skills/skillchain related stuff (TP is a big one)
Special abilites that require party coordination eg. Cover, SATA

The main reason this pisses me off is because I need to see things going on in the chat log, such as mob abilites i need to stun/dispel. I also need to keep track of the tank's hate on blm, and if i can't see what moves he is using easily it might affect my damage. On rdm this is a huge pain in the ass if you keep missing dispel because you can't see what the mob is doing easily.

i hate nins that go [please][provoke][blink:1/2] etc
o and the people who go "pulling <t> inc" /wait 3 "inc <t> <call2> /wait 1 /p <call1> inc"

err for that stun bit i would have to say like non unless on hk for ohat they ask alot but thats fair it is a tough mob

lol how about nins that ask blm to stun every time they are gonna cast utsusimi:ichi?

This is common sense really. After you've played for a while, you know not to put a /say line in your Boost macro. I usually say something to these people.

Pretty much the only spells I have chat macroed into are enfeebles, simply to let the party know that they are being cast in case they have those particular filters on.

On Nin, I specifically created a no-chat utsu and a chat utsu for when shadows really were down. Still got a lot of too-early vokes, though :P

Death to most if not all SMN macros ...

the macros dont really bother me as once because I have party chat in hold and everything that is harmful to party or benifical to mob in a bright color. The one that bother me are the peole who think they have to put <call#> in every dang macro. call 1-3 are the worse. Only macros that should have call are pull macros and posibly ws start macros and none of them should have call 1-3. call 1-3 are to be used for people afk or have fallen asleep on party. sound system + call = scareing the people next to me half to death:crazy:

The only time chat belongs in a macro is when theres multialliance things going on. Other than that, everyone in a party should be paying attention enough to not need to be reminded whats going on.

This actually helps TONS. Being in a static that had dual WAR/NIN tanks it was imperative that I kept stun ready for when they needed to recast. I dont see why that would frustrate you, it leads to better exp/hr.

The only party chat macros I had were for Mage's Ballad and Escape and I never had anyone complain to me about them.

There was a WHM in my old LS who had the most annoying party chat macros that people actually blisted her during Sky runs and Dynamis etc. There's just no need for party chat for every spell you cast.

The other thing I hated as a WHM was when tanks had stona/paralyna/haste etc. macroed with really annoying calls. I took pride in my job and it offended me that the tank felt he/she had to tell me how to do it.

Ya, i 100% agree with you. I usually end up /blacklist them, or if they spam emotes that's even worst for me. /blacklist, and filter emotes til pty over ftw.

/p macro for pulling, TP and WS onry.

WS can be taken out at higher levels too. Mainly used for the noobs who cant seem to notice the animations going off.

I've seen people do that.. where the pt chat goes and stays at the top... like NPC chat does now.. how the hell do you do that!?

Chat Filters > Party. Set to Hold.

I only put my TP and pull macros in /p. I have Utsusemi and Provoke in /echo, ie:

/recast "Utsusemi: Ichi"
/ma "Utsusemi: Ichi"
/wait 20
/echo 15 seconds until Utsusemi: Ichi is ready.
/wait 15
/echo Utsusemi: Ichi ready.

Nobody else really needs to know when I'm casting Utsusemi, or how long I have. Doesn't bother me too much when others do it though. But as mentioned, <call> macros annoy the heck out of me. /p Provoke <t> <call1>!!!

I use calls on the only two macros of mine that show up in /p. TP is the gong call, and pulling is just a ding. Much more gentle on the ears.

why dose this seem like fb material.... o wait

360 and PS2 users do not have access to this. Every melee needs a TP macro, no if's and's or but's.

I also include a TP call on my Pull macro, so I can get as much information out with the least amount of macros.

I have stun in /p so people know I'm stunning so I don't get "omgz y rnt u stunnining?!" and so my fellow BLMs know I've nuked and at what times (for sky).

I don't think any of my BLM macros have /p in apart from Stun. All /echo and /recast :D
