So I've got the parade on in the background because the kids are watching it, and the stupidest thing just happened. They had some float come out with a bunch of crap on it, and then they interrupt whatever was going on the float to have Rick Astley come out and sing. That's right, Macy's Rick rolled its audience. I think it's the lamest thing I've ever seen on network TV.

RickRolling stopped being funny like two years ago. Now it's just sad.

No it's always funny. They were showing a float from Cartoon Network about one of their cartoons. The puppets on the float start singing some cute little song when a record scratches and rick astley comes out himself rick rolling the parade. Fucking good stuff. Glad to see Cartoon Network keeps it real. haha

They're a bit slow on that, but it's still funny as hell.

I still think its funny, atleast in special situations like this one

I dunno, I thought it was funny and I still like that song >_>

Eh... during a kids float? I think they could have at least coordinated a better time.

Plus rring is ancient history as stated above.

I'm sure the directors felt just as eggfaced as the people standing on the float while it happened, but they get paid to smile.

meh, I found it quite hilarious, as did the three people who realized what was going on when we saw it... having to explain rick rolling to all the old people on the other hand wasn't so much fun... I'm fairly sure at least half of them don't understand it.

That was hilarious. Props to Rick Astley for actually coming out and doing it.

IDK, its not as if they had John Stamos or someone else come out and sing it. It was actually Rick Astley (not as if he was really doing anything at the time but still). Is it old? Sure by internet standards, but you cant really expect mainstream media, much less the group who head the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade to give a shit about 4-Chans latest attempt at being funny. The fact that they actually did it, and with Rick no less makes it the funniest thing I've seen all week.

I'm sorry, it is nowhere NEAR lame when you have Rick Astley HIMSELF come out to Rickroll people. That's the ultimate Rickroll and it can now safely be put to bed forever.

If you saw the beginning, they had already annouced Rick Astley, it was just a matter of what float he would be on.

If anyone has ever watched Foster's, it's actually pretty funny, some of the jokes are geared towards adults, they'll make references to 80's shows or something else a kid probably wouldn't get.

Rick Rolling won't be over till the Simpsons does it, then that will be the end of it.

Good stuff, IMO

Yep, Astley's own views on the Rickroll are that "as long as nobody picks on my daughter because of it, I'm cool with it." I think it was well-done, and really funny given that it was on the Foster's float, which is the *last* cartoon normally shown on mainstream Cartoon Network prior to Adult Swim (and by association, many [as] viewers watch Foster's).

I'm pretty surprised at the replies to this thread, especially since "Rick Rolling" is about as old as the internet itself.
