Mages of Today

MND is good, I'll give it that. But it takes me like 20 MND to increase my Cure by like 1 MP... that's pretty damn useless in my opinion.
On a side note, I didn't MPK Delite's party. I was power leveling it. He just managed to spam AoE spells and stuff around a multitude of Leeches, and he thought I bound them near him. But anyway...

Most of these parties I'm talking about are like Lv60+ parties that I've been in. And they're xp parties so they should have decent equip...

I don't know how you could still be a noob at 70+...

I can understand a 70+ player not knowing how to properly play a specific area/task (uluguran range, dynamis, gods, hnm), but that's something that goes away with time.

But I'm pretty sure it's a crime to call anybody who has spent the time to get their job to 70 a noob. Call em a suckass player, but noob is off the mark. :P

If you're a suck ass player at 70+... then you are a n00b still, in addition to a terrible player. Feel our pain... unless you have a good crew for 70+ jobs.. the pickins are slim.

Ahem, i'm leveling Blm now and i'm a blm, but I do concentrate on INT gear.
I am lvl 37 right now, other night i got in a Manaburn pt in CN , I did just as much damage as hume blm and nearly as much as the taru and outdid him sometimes since the spells sometime get resisted.... just thought i'd clarify that not all elvaan blms are horrible.

Whoops pressed post too soon, The reason your seeing lvl 60+ noobs is because thats the most popular level to sell your character to IGE, from what i hear 60+ is when the game gets good, and i've played for well over 2 years.... and have yet to get a job past 55...

Jesus you're slow! lol.

As far as I know, MND does not help your Bar-spells. MND will give -you- a boost to your Magic Defense Bonus, but I have never seen it carry over to any party members. The only ways I know of to enhance the effects of your barspells on other party members are through Enhancing Magic Skill, Barspell Merits, and equipment with Barspell Enhancements, such as the Blessed Briault. MND will impact your Cure V potency, and help you to cap lower level cure spells faster, but Equipment with Cure Potency Boosts seem to do far more than most MND-based equipment. MND is mainly beneficial for Stoneskin and your own Magic Defense Bonus; Cure Potency is a lesser benefit, and the only other thing I can think of that would be of use to a whm. RDMs and WHMs get some use out of it for Enfeebling Spells, but by end-game, most WHMs won't be enfeebling unless they are working in a solo or duo setting.

And the whole thing with n00by mages is, well, not really new. It's been a problem since I started playing a year and a half ago, and continues to be a problem today. The only thing I have encountered that may be considered an increase in the problem, is a declining willingness of mages I have met to listen to advice. RDMs who can't refresh, BRDs who can't elegy or requim, WHMs who can't haste or regen, BLMs who don't understand what a Magic Burst is, SMNs who don't know that any command besides 'Assault' exists in their pet menus.

Then again, there's also the NINs who never bothered to buy any ninjitsu besides Utsusemi, the PLDs who don't understand why they should use Provoke more than once a fight, the RNGs who don't want to was ammo pulling, then use Barrage and EES while the mnk pulls, and wonder why they die, the DRGs that won't get rid of their 'DEATH FROM ABOVE!!!! OMG YOU D13 N0\/\/z!!1111one11! JUMP!!!' macros, the SAMs who don't understand what a Skillchain is, the DRKs who complain when they use Berserk, Souleater, and Last Resort on the same WS, then die, the THFs who use SATA 32 seconds before there's actually a mob at camp, the WARs that insist they can tank as well as a NIN, the MNKs that insist on getting CH 6 with 100 Fists when the WHM has 24 MP, and the BSTs who enjoy MPKing random parties just because they happen to be getting fast exp.

So yeah. Coming from a melee standpoint, I can totally see where a bad mage would stand out, and cause you grief. But coming from a mage standpoint, I will personally vouch that it goes both ways. XD

Hahaha. True dat. About the only job class I haven't seen sucky players in past lvl 50 is beastmaster :P You tend to stop sucking after dying a bajillion times.

About those high lvl whms and rdms who pass by dead characters. Simple solution, just "Ask". Just how you asked the rdm to give you a lil cure boost. Most likely they'll be willing to help a fellow player. I know I do whenever I see the oppurtunity.

lol I'm sure I've seen that DRG Macro somewhere lol ..hmmm who was it... I forgot .. Maybe an elvaan.. eh not sure oh well.

Lol, I'm pretty sure I've seen it about 15 times all from different characters. I think there must be some secret website like, www.Top10AnnoyingJumpMacros.com somewhere or something, and all DRGs get a flyer in the mail when they hit level 10, telling them to go there and register. XD

>.> Why you pickin on DRG? ; ;

I don't have a macro for that, I have a WS Macro for the BLM to see our SC, and a Spirit LInk macro so the WHM knows to toss a cure my way.

Monk's Boost Macro is the real problem here D:

The one I notice the most are Bards who wear nothing but MND and MP equipment. Especially when they're Mithra or something that actually NEEDS Charisma.

+Chr is utterly worthless for a bard 95% of the time. Guess how much I wear during normal exp? +5-10 depending on what mp gear I give up. +chr has no effect on minuet, finale, madrigal, the power of threnody, elegy, or foe requim. It affects resist rates, but brd have close to no resistance problems as is (especially if using matching elemental staffs for debuffs), plus brd songs don't cost mp so the occasional resist doesn't hurt. The only time a brd needs all the +chr they can get is when sleeping adds. This is easy to handle by having your sleep macro switch in all your +chr gear, but even then you get rapidly deminishing results past +30 chr.

Even then, the first priority of Refresh is themselves, then the BLM, then the PLD, then the DRK, then the WHM.

Lemme just say as a Blm, I don't believe i need to be anywhere near the front of a Refresh Cycle Priority. I would personally think Rdm>Pld>Whm>Blm>Drk. But I don't have refresh, so I wouldn't know.

I think that was supposed to be a reference to a bad RDMs refresh cycle, not an actual one. XD

You shouldn't have to ask to be cured or raised, though. It should be mage courtesy. Seriously, though, if a WHM75 passes a WAR35 resting with like 5% HP left, why not do a quick Cure III or Cure IV?
This Flame's gotten four pages of Replies in like six hours lol.

Speaking for myself... I almost always raise someone if I can. I'm a advocate for RAoH - Random Acts of Healing.

... we have a reason for this...it's called prechargeing it allows more satas per fight (up to three in the first 1 min 13 secs)

yeah i agree with some mages not being up and giving there all... but i dont agree that a RDM should bend over back words and heal 3 times when they have some where to go to cure u, protect and shell u, then regen u

Well, I suck at whm, which is why I'm not a white mage. I over load like a bitch, I can't conserve my mp, and unless I stoneskin and blink I will get owned eventually in that party.

But! I try to have the best gear at that level, I currently have 39+27 mnd, and since I'm a taru, I don't think +mp plays as an important role in whm, I don't have as much +mp (but I do have over 400 mp...). I like to be given constructive criticism, and I do think I'm getting better at the whm game, I certainly don't take as much hate as some whms I've partied with on my blm.

But hey, I'll be off whm soon, once I hit level 42 I'm 'retiring' whm to teleport whoring :)

I think that there are alot of people that basically don't know how to play their jobs, and just get bitchy as hell if you give them a polite suggestion whic would benefit them, the survival rate of the party members, or the flow of exp. I'm not claiming to be the best blm out there, but I've had a fair few experiences with bad, and indeed amazing partys, and I can see where people are doing stuff wrong, and maybe come up with a suggestion to help everyone. Consequently, I'm always open to suggestions while I'm leveling black mage too.

Meh... Theres my... Sorta rant...
Blabj~

hahaha the Druw didnt you post that somewhere else? I was laughn my ass off at that before..and just because a handful of mages do not know what there doing, bad equip, etc....Does not mean that most of them are like this..
