First we had this,

magic skill

Warlocks_tabard.jpg

Then bam they decided to confuse us
magic accuracy

Ok people think it's another way to say skill, but it applies to all types of magics.

We even got negative accuracy lol.

Then a new concept, magic evasion. Why didn't they just say magic resitance ?

Death Blossom
Description: Delivers a threefold attack that lowers target's magic evasion. Chance of lowering target's magic evasion varies with TP. Murgleis: Aftermath effect varies with TP.

Finally this, magical critical hit... Noone knows wtf it does afaik.

Witch Sash
[Waist] All Races
DEF: 4 INT +5 MND +5
Magic Accuracy +2
Magic Critical Hit Rate +2%
Lv. 71 WHM / BLM / RDM

i felt the same way...why does se need to confuse us so much...magic doesn't crit at all...evasion to me seems like it applies to enfeebles in my opinion

you know how some mobs use effects like goobues but when they miss they say that player evades? that is actually a spell(duh) but it's resisted normally and can be resisted with the appropriate barspell and status.

so this weaponskill would lower a monsters resistances to enfeebles in my opinion possibly mobs that are immune become more prone(less "evasive") to spells.

of course that's a random thought there the only part i can vouch for are mob debuffs that seem like physical attacks but are magical and have evades after them instead of resisting.

...magic doesn't crit at all....
Is that based on fact or are you assuming it might not work like that. Sorry for asking but I'm not currently in the game and don't know if that info is out yet.

Cause personally IMO I think that's how SE might do the whole "Magic Critical Hit Rate". It's not going to be like it is with melee'ing. How having that random hit sometimes being critical and doing more damage.

My theory is that the MCHR is @ a 0% on default for all mage jobs. Having these MCHR items raises that chance of getting a critical hit with magic. The only thing we don't know for certain is how much a critical hit is going to do over a non one, and is it going to be fixed or determined by other various factors

>_> shit I think I went off topic...

My apologies ^^;

i was basing based off of resists like the 1/4 1/2 and etc. there's always a max damage cap for magic and base damage for the respective tier

I'm speculating that that Mcrit would be something you acquire after equipping one of these pieces, or maybe it has something to do with Weather/Day "critical" damages but SE articulated it poorly (they tend to do that).

As for the difference between Skill and MACC, MACC applies to all magic whereas magic skill applies to only a specific branch. Then you have the fact that MACC is tied to INT or MND depending on the spell, whilst skill is (as far as I know) a stand-alone increase. Last I checked, it was proposed that 1 skill point is approximately 0.9 MACC past 200 skill.

But I am possibly preaching to the choir here :p

The 1 skill = 0,9 acc has never been proven, its just assumed it works like melee accuracy. Its extremely difficult to test how much m.acc one skill adds, since you cant con mobs to see if their "magic evasion" is low, like they could when they calculated how much melee acc one skill gives.

Personally im inclined to belive it works pretty much the same way, but i wouldnt take it for granted.

I find it hard to see magic accuracy capping at 95% like melee accuracy (you can go without resists on some mobs for extended periods of time regardless of their level, while a melee would still miss a TW with capped accuracy 5% of the time), and is also not uniform for all spells either; this is what also causes confusion as well. I personally don't believe it's like melee skill and goes down to 0.9 after 200 skill but I can't say for certain what it would be either, since it's too hard/tedious to test for one.

Quick question: if magic can Crit then can a critical magic spell kill a Flea like a Crit attack does?

I believe magic evasion is the equivalent of elemental resistance that you can find on gears etc. Except that it works for all spells : from blizzard elemental magic or poison. In other words, it's a negative barspell.

If that's the case it would make sense doing a WS on rdm every 3 minutes (slowII duration) on a NM that resist slow/elegy a lot, like Odin. Whenever I get it, i'll try odin since I know what kind of slow evasion it has (You're lucky if you land slow2 twice the whole fight, same for paralyze).

Umm... I don't understand. How does a critical hit kill a flea? Are you talking about a one hit kill? If so, I believe magic can already kill a flea with one hit. If you're gimp or using a less powerful spell and it's a critical hit, then I don't see why it wouldn't die in one hit.

Don't know if that's what you're asking ^^;

EDIT*

Hmmm... that's interesting

Fleas (chigoes) are killed instantly by critical hits and damage dealing JAs (Shield Bash, Jump, etc.), regardless of their remaining HP. However, if they are killed like this, rather than depleting their HP to 0, then they do not give exp.

It just does. Chigoes are immediate one-shots (technically, they run away, but they do die) when hit with a Bash or a critical hit.

This is an interesting idea. I have Death Blossom and we're doing Odin on Friday, I'll discuss it with my group.

Supposedly, Wise grip, With sash, Brave grip, Cuchulain chain come from an OP quest in the past.

Yeah nations have to own all areas

Witch Sash appears on Odin. Turns out it's not a Pandemonium Warden Drop, but a Campaign Ops BC only available when the host nation controls the beastmen stronghold. It's been out for awhile just no server has been able to access it until Odin's San'doria took over La'Vaule this week.

Read that from his LJ yesterday.
