Make Pudding Immune to Melee?

Taking damage penalties, I'd rather XP there than somewhere crowded.
I have XPed there a couple times, granted the camp was free when we arrived. They die and give XP...Good enough for me.

BTW where are the normal party setups lacking 3 black mages?

Quit fucking posting here. That sentence doesn't even make sense. Everyone knows BLMs suck in TPburns, no one with half a fucking brain will argue that.

As for plenty of places to BLM cannon? Not really... Flans and wamouras are the only viable options. Personally, I hate exping off've wamouras vs Flans, flans are aspirable, and they don't attack initially due to casting, which is nice for a BLM cannon.

In respect to infinite chains on flans.... in a BLM manaburn, I see no possible way to "infinite" chain, the MP constraint makes this impossible. If you could clue me in to how you are to maintain enough MP to continue to chain, I'd love to know.

I dislike that melees have 20+ camps in ToAU to camp at for good merit exp, bragging of their 20k/hr and whatnot, yet they insist on camping in one of the BLMs 3 camps for merits (2 decent wamoura camps, 1 pudding camps). That just frustrates me.

Ara, let's merit tonight, I need 15k more to cap out ele magic, and then to start on MPs.

It was a few months back, but I remember reading a pretty detailed post (with screenshots and mappoints) about this. It was kind of a finicky method involving actually splitting up the party and rotating kills and resting. I think he got it as high as chain 179 or some damn thing. Aspir was a must. Though this just isn't viable any more because you needed all 11(?) spawns, and getting them untouched now just ain't happenin.

Oh.. so was it 5BLM 1BRD, or 6BLM, splitting pt into two groups, 3 rest, 3 kill, aspir, etc? As for the 11 spawns... my last couple cannons have had free reign of the area, including the Automaton from the troll PUP, so... Thanks for the info, Alanon.

Since it's fairly easy to kill one pudding with exactly four tier-IV and then sometimes a Drain on the side, with six BLMs you could cycle two, or even three, out. Even if they only get a few tics of resting in, I can see how the mp would last.

The real trouble is getting exact timing on repops and kills - the reason infinite chains are possible is due to the kill timer never going below 60 seconds. Even with total control of the camp + automaton, for most groups it's easier to just go for 12 kills and rest.

That said, I'm willing to sit with a stopwatch and scream "KILL IT NOW" if it means chain 170+ instead of chain 11~12. I've certainly seen flans repop as the cycle was ending a couple times.

Ok Ill just stop thinking that a 1200+ magic burst is ok in an exp party. My bad for thinking.

Eh its pretty good if you aren't lv70+ in my opinion, because thats when melee can be more diverse with skillchains and still pull out decent damage, where its worth doing a timed skillchain -> magic burst, but whatever floats your boat i guess. Its not my decision to say whats best.

A 1200 magic burst is pathetic.

QFT, and if you're making a TPBurn, then having a BLM in there for burst is such a waste of damage. We have mediocre DoT as a job, we have spike damage, that is our forte.

Mediocre as in shitty? I mean because thats what it means, right? Im sure a blm can keep up with melee, if not superbly outdo one with DoT from nuking. But if a party is lacking in choices for a 6th, I guess a blm would be nice. I don't have much to add on that though, but I was in a tp burn pt the other day, war, war, war, drg, rdm, brd and it went 8k an hr for about 4 hrs. If a blm was plugged in I guess missing a rampage would suck. For reference: I was the pt leader, therefore i wouldnt kick myself just to invite a blm, hell i dont kick anyone unless they are honestly slowing the pt down.

Mediocre as in shitty, yes. Sure, a BLM could keep up with a melee for one, two, three, maybe four fights. Not outdamage, but keep up. After that, the BLM has to rest. The melee continue, the BLM can -not- keep up, they have the constraint of having MP, whereas Melee do not. Use some logic, it's not very hard.

I am using logic. You aren't plugging in if you have a rdm and/or bard and/or drinks and/or cor in the party. Nuking for 75% of the fight then resting until the next mob comes in is a nice way to conserve MP. I hate to personalize, but ive seen black mages pull out decent damage without having to stop nuking completely.

To keep up with a melee, you need to consistently nuke 2-3 times per fight, even with RDM or BRD, you will need to rest after 4-5 fights. There is no way for a BLM to keep up with melee over time. Simple as that. In a TP Burn, you don't even have time to nuke 2-3 times per fight, and if you nuke once every fight, you have no time to rest, and you run out of mp, then while you med, the melees kill 2 more mobs, and your dmg reflects that. Skipping 2 mobs to rest is so inefficient.

Perhaps thats your way of saying "hypocrit" but I shit you not when i say what i said was the truth. 8k an hr is quite decent if you ask me, and a nice 500-600 wheeling thrust kept up with the wars' inconsistant 300-700 rampages. Also i worked as a nice hate-distributer in some instances. Seeing chain 7s in a few times was nice as well, so I wouldn't say i slowed the pt down at all, but you making that comment has derailed the topic at hand and caused me to drift off into space, thanks.

It all depends on what the party will allow and how efficient the rest of the party is working. But I guess I cant argue when my blm is only 17. Im ending my arguement right now.

If the camp is empty and melees want to go there, that's one thing. Granted, the OP had left camp for a minute, so perhaps there was a misunderstanding. However, I've been meriting blm a lot off puddings recently and random melee parties just traipse on in and act like they're not doing anything wrong. Get your asses to Thickets, Mire, Mamook, trolls, sky, or any other fucking place. No, we cannot share camps. One manaburn party there will easily clear the area. It doesn't even require a full party to do so. I'm pretty easygoing, but when some random douchebags move in and try to melee puddings to death it pisses me off like no tomorrow.

Also, if you invite blms to a TP burn, you're an idiot. They're not called TPburn for nothing. And don't give me shit about how rdms/brds/whms are invited. Blms do nothing to further improve melee exp per hour.

What if the party wasnt initially a TPburn? It started as war nin cor blm whm drg. When the whm left, we had to wait to get the rdm seeking (only healer avail), and then the cor dced, so we got a brd, then the nin dced, got another war to help tank, then the blm had to leave, so we grabbed a third war. It started out as a normal exp pt, and I guess you could say it ended as a tpburn.
