Manbearpig ?

I had the Brady Guide. I was WAR/WHM until level 33, 'cause the guide said it was kewl.

I think people need to lighten up a bit too. Why does it always have to be about OMGIGOTTAGET1000000XPANHR!!!!111!!11!

I mean, it's one thing to offer other players advice, but to cram it down their throat...
Seriously though, if there is a person in your party that is making you miss out on that extra 800XP an hour because they don't have a +1 version equipment, I'd say that is probably your problem that you need to address by finding other people to party with.

Seriously though people, leave the social linkshells alone. They will find out for themselves when people start to decline party invites and decline them for endgame shells because they don't have the right setup. You don't have to brow-beat someone because they are in a level 37 party and they aren't l33t.

Everyone knows that the Brady guide is fucking wrong. Don't even go there.

No one is saying that people suck because they don't have a +1 version of equipment. It's because they are missing armor or have crap that is so far below their current level that its bullshit.

Begging for gil. Did you miss that part?

He was joking about the Brady guide.

And that's exactly what he's saying are wrong. Because they're missing armor. Just because some members are bad in-game because they're relatively new to the game, doesn't make it a bad linkshell.

Taking it too seriously. Did you miss that part?

That was sarcasm. So, yeah, I went there.

Until that time, is it really worth it? Ignore lists are always useful.

I also want to make it clear that I don't support begging for gil or being unprepared and wasting other peoples time. I'm just saying, let the new people figure it out for themselves. They'll learn real quick how to swim if nobody is keeping them afloat. No need to smash them in the head with a paddle though.

Ex, the problem I had was just in the attidute displayed by about 10 straight linkshell members. They'd make a party with a horrible set-up, not realizing how to play their job, and then beg for PL's. That wouldn't have been so bad if they had at least acted interested in what I had to say (accept it or not is a different story). However when I tell the warrior, "You know if you provoke that monster it wont hit the mage and kill them." And getting a response along the lines of "Shut up! I don't want to die" it get kind of annoying.

If they can't swim, let 'em sink is all I'm saying. It sucks when people won't take constructive criticism, but they will be forced to lay in the bed they make sooner than later.

I concede that a flame may have been warrented here... but for the LS as a whole?

Oh, it be warranted.

Most of the time I would agree that citing an example of a few wouldn't apply to the whole. But in this case, it's more than a few and falls into the majority category.

Of what? Them being "noobs"? xD

I agree with Ex here about letting them sink, if they are really that bad and don't wanna take advice, boot them. If you're not the leader, disband party and solo till you get something better. Allowing the progression of horrid players hurts everyone. We have too many jackasses at 75 who don't understand how a basic skill chain is set up and simple stuff like hate control.

When I leveled in this game, I leveled first in the school of hard knocks. If I did something I shouldn't, I was told what I did wrong. If I did it again, I died. Simple as that.

As for this shell in question, I had a party on my 17 RDM with them once. Had Two WHM (one being Kumarr) and a BLM from their shell as well as two WAR (one being Pandetech). I, a Galka RDM, ended up doing the majority of the healing while I stayed in the party, and when I questioned it, Pandetech insisted that they were new to playing the job and had to be carried a little. UNACCEPTABLE! By 12 WHM you should grasp main healing to the point you can do it fine with a little help from a RDM. At 17 you should be at least relatively proficient even on your first job, maybe without great hate control. Two WHM in a party means the RDM should *never* hafta heal. I don't think that's being elitist in any form. And when the two primary members of a shell tell you that it's ok to be like that, I'm sorry it's a very bad reflection on a shell.

I don't where see where this has to do with the shell as a hole. This is saying that Kumarr, in the summer, wasn't as good as healing as he should've been.

Where does the linkshell come into this? Have they harassed you, taunted you, or done anything bad to you besides make you main heal?

Excim is saying, I think, that they're taking such a small experience and making a huge deal out of it.

Which is exactly what they're doing. :] Obviously Kumarr had kicked him from a party or something, and he just got a little angry. :]

The reason this thread has gotten so many replies is because people are saying "Oh yeah, I denied a request to that linkshell." If you look, that makes up 70% of the posts on this thread. -___-

Yeah we get that.

hole /= whole

You just don't get it.

I love qcdn because I can run by Manbearpigmule and /point and /laugh. Adds a whole new dimension to the game.

There is no Manbearpigmule. <3

Nice try, though.

What do you mean what happened to him? Didn't you /point and /laugh?

There was a "Manbearpig", who is Myrche's mule, but I heard from this thread that he was deleted awhile ago.

So what happened, I suppose, was a failed attempt at humor on your part.

While I'm sure you mean well by posting your point of view since it is a linkshell that you pretty much well enjoy, to others it is a laughable group.

Allow me to explain.

You say they have not harassed people, taunted people or done anything bad.
Then how do you explain the number of testimonials that other people gave about Manbearpig?
Kumarr seems to actually ask people to join his linkshell a repeated number of times even when someone refuses to. Are you going to say that's not indeed "harassment?"
I can probably say that those 70% of those who refused were actually harassed lol.
Why else do you think they said that?

Some of Manbearpig members have asked people around for money.
I can understand asking someone in your linkshell for a small sum since you know the person.
I can understand even asking a close person on your friend-list.
Tell me the merits of asking total strangers for gil?
Don't give me the standard "Because they look like they have gil to spare" or "Because they may be nice", or "Because you don't have to pay them back" crap.
You know what that does?

It makes the person who is asking (random strangers) look bad...and I mean BAD.
It makes them look even more stupid when they do that at a town where they can just go outside and kill stuff off to at least get an airship fare or chocobo fare.
And if someone /check's the person out and sees the linkshell name (god forbid if they have one) they will remember to stay away from it.
It would be an even more bad reflection of your linkshell if someone saw other members (not the same one) doing the same begging.

People should not expect to have their hand held all the friggin time while they play.
They have to learn if they want to do something right.
Otherwise they will not be able to stand on their own two feet. So because they are new to the game they have to be babied through the Dunes?
Because they are new, your leader tells them its ok not to their supposed job?
That is a very laughable attitude.
Hardly acceptable behavior in my opinion. I'm sure some people would agree.

Also, Kumarr has [bold]tried[/bold] to "taunt" Psylent.
I'm going to emphasize on the "tried" since his remarks are something that won't do anything to actually get a rise out of people. To you, it may seem like he was successful.
To me it just looks like he wanted to have the last word to shut psylent up but was just so unsuccessful in doing so.
If a leader does this, this pretty much sets an example to others within the linkshell that its ok to taunt people. Doing so will entail some risk since that could only make you look out to be the bigger idiot if they don't take the bait.

Making a small experience into a big deal?
Perhaps that may be true. However, you cannot deny the fact that they still had a bad experience with Manbearpig, can you?

Go ahead, keep on denying the indiscretions the people outside of that linkshell that had the unfortunate luck to be forced to observe.

Maybe it was Manbearpigbank?

Oooh...I may have seen that...Or, I heard about it.

1.) Raey, he was posting about a personal experience. I asked him specifically if he was harassed, and he wasn't. If that was the topic of the flame, I'd say "Flame on!"

However, the reason this whole flame started is because there were a couple o' noobs in some party.

Besides, I don't think there could possibly be harassment in this game, since the /blist function is available.

2.) This is the second time I've said this, MANBEARPIG DOES NOT ENCOURAGE GIL-BEGGING INSIDE THE LINKSHELL

3.) Since you've never been inside the linkshell, you cannot tell them how they run. They do not "hold hands". Like I said, I was helped because I cannot solo the Rank 2-3 Dragon. Although I'm sure there are people who can, I chose to ask for help, which I received. I've never once gotten any complaints in party for me being "Noobish." Kumar does not tell them not to do their supposed job.

I'm just giving you facts. Facts you do not know and should not know, because you have never been in the linkshell for an extended period of time.

4.) Kumar had provocation. Psylent had no such thing. Also, I never said he was "successful". KUMAR AND PANDETECH ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON. I was referring to Pandetech, not Kumar. (I see his name as Kumarr in the game, I think 0.o)

5.) I never denied the fact that it wasn't a bad experience. However, it was "well-played", since Psylent was so dramatic as to actually post about one singular experience and label it as the linkshell's fault. (If it wasn't just one particular experience, it should've been in his first post.)

6.) I am not denying that these experiences have happened, I am simply saying small reasons like "They're filled with gimp!" is not a sufficient reason to leave a linkshell. They help me out, and I will make sure that the name of that linkshell is not polluted even further from people like you, who have never been in the linkshell but claim that "They teach their players to do this!"

If no one can give me a reason to leave other than "They are gimp!" "They party badly!" then I suppose this thread is over, since it's a social linkshell and their "skill" in-game does not make them a better or worse human being. I interact with these human beings, and they make my stay in FFXI enjoyable.
