Geeze, my god if you are going to address something to me,
at least spell my name right!
Now that part's off my chest, shall we get to the main entree?
You've never been in the linkshell, so I don't suppose you'd understand.
However, I've repeated this several times already.
I'm in the linkshell, and I've observed that THEY TEACH PLAYERS HOW TO HELP THEMSELVES, INSTEAD OF DOING ALL THE WORK THEMSELVES.
And the problem is, you can't say otherwise, because you aren't in the linkshell.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't care if I'm not in your fucking linkshell.
Therefore, of course there would be some things that I am bound to not know. What part of that can you not understand through that thick head of yours?
So they teach players how to help themselves?
Really?
Perhaps that's why they play with parts of their gear missing or begging around for gil?
If the ls does indeed go by that stance and they see something that the new people are doing wrong, would they try to give the new people some advice as to remedy the situation?
For example, if you're low on gil, kill some mobs and gather some loot from them sell them off to NPCs if they can't wait for an AH transaction.
Do you know my mules made alot of money that way?
Oh, right. I'm not in the linkshell so I possibly could not know. /sarcasm.
If the new people are dying too fast, do they tell them to figure it out on their own?
Or do you at least ask them what they are doing and see what could be wrong with it?
You don't seem to understand that no one wants to be in the shell because the members are idiots. I have had plenty of interaction with ManBearPig members. If anyone at all like pandetech, Kumar, or you is in the shell, i'd want no part of it.
There is not a single person on qcdn that would agree to join your shell, and the reason is because the people make the shell. If the people suck, and they do FROM MY EXPERIENCE, the shell sucks. I AM NOT TELLING YOU TO LEAVE THE SHELL. I am telling you I would not join based on imperical evidence. That is my opinion, and if you were me, you would have the same opinion and you can't say otherwise because you are not me.
Read that quote until it sinks in because I don't think it has at all.
You can ask people around all you want.
Chances are a good number of people have heard of Pandetech's name alone and what kind of person he is just from hearing it from the grapevine.
A good portion of that number would be coming from people who did indeed interact with Pandetech and if they tell their friends who this "idiot" is, what do you think is going to happen?
They will keep that in the corner of their minds, mention it to their friends and so on.
Pray, tell me but does he still do ballista?
I know him from that how much of a big-talker he can be as well as an annoying little ass.
People disliked him even then, I'm sure those same people still do now.
Pandetech was joking with him. Psylent, however, was not. They had obviously not talked before. And even at that, it wouldn't be harassment anyways because there's a "/blist" function. He chose to talk to Pandetech.
You got to be joking....
"Haycanitouchyourpenis?" is in no way of being any kind of harassment how?
I'm sorry but in this realm, text is the main form of communication here.
If I don't know you, or don't know you well enough to joke around like THAT, I will indeed call that harassment.
Sexual harassment, hell I'd even label that as unwanted sexual advances.
Oh, the great /blist will save us all!
If only that were true.
1.) So, you take information from your source, Psylentcuda, who claims that he's had other bad experiences that could possibly prove to me that the linkshell has been terrible to him.
He's named a few, but I've already proved how they could easily be false. Also, why didn't he post them in his starting post? Who knows.
Have you even read what I wrote?
He's had past encounters, this one just happened to break the straw on the camel's f*cking back.
You cannot debunk his time with the members of your shell since you have said that you do not know even for yourself that they actually happened or not.
Therefore, that gives enough room for reasonable doubt that yes, they did indeed happen, that the last encounter with the said members had just pushed him to post this flame.
You cannot prove that they did not happen.
Therefore, you should not be able to talk.
However, I do find Psylent a bit more trustworthy than Pandetech or Kumarr so yes, this is my OPINION. I am entitled to have one, as are you.
Oh my God. I have yet to see a level 1 player on my Linkshell, and only God knows how you can tell if a level 1 can possibly be RMT.
Want to know how I can tell?
If their names do not make any sense at all in either English or Japanese for the most part then yes it's blipping on my radar. My radar is pretty accurate, if I don't say so myself.
I can also tell if it could be a French or German type of name.
But when I see a name that looks like someone just closed their eyes and just tapped on some of the keys "just to make a name" then yes, I will label it as RMT unless someone tells me otherwise.
Especially if someone begged me for gil in Sandy, or in Bastok. Unfortunately, this type of activity seems to be more frequent in Sandy.
Bad assumption. It couldn't possibly implement that to outside of the linkshell.
A.) People who beg in the linkshell probably want money, regardless of whether the Linkshell denies them this money or not. Just because one person says "Don't beg", do you think a beggar honestly will stop to beg?
B.) The linkshell can't control its members actions outside of the linkshell, I am sorry. People from other linkshells have begged me for gil, and I don't make flames about it, or even make poor judgement. It's just one or a few beggars. I'm not stupid enough to think this could ruin my experience in the linkshell.
Orly?
Are you sure?
I do believe even a social shell does indeed have some ground rules.
If you state that there is to be no gil-begging within or outside of the linkshell, I'm sure most people would follow. You just need to put some reasoning behind that.
For example, it makes you (the player) and the linkshell as a whole look bad to others.
If you want a group of rag-tag players then sure, I'm sure your logic suits well.
However, if you want the players to "grow" then you have to set some rules as well as encourage them to move forward.
In ANY kind of group there is some "code" whether it be of honor or morals or whatever.
There's some rules. If you don't make any, the members will go around doing whatever the f*ck they want. Is that not true?
Oh wait, wait, I'm not in your linkshell. Right, right.
I'm talking about the interior functions of the linkshell, you are not. You are talking about the outside view of the linkshell, which does not effect the interior function. That's a great view, but you can't say it's a good or bad linkshell until you're in it.
Quite frankly, this is probably why you are not seeing what the hell I'm trying to say.
And you put in the same thing over and over again. I'm not in the linkshell, so what?
I'm telling you that this is what people will indeed see your linkshell as, I'm not referring to the exact infrastructure of the goddamn thing.
If people see your linkshell as something negative, then that's something you and the rest of your members are going to have to live with, unfortunately.
I don't understand. At what point does Psylentcuda gives proof that he tried to give advice to the members that were in his party? He may have said it, but it probably isn't true.
One thing. Taurothar addressed it a long time ago to Kumarr who then said, "They are new and need to be carried a little."
Do you understand what that implies?
Think about it.
Oh jesus, revelation. Thank you, fortune teller, but I could care less what happens to the linkshell two years from now. They probably say it's the biggest linkshell on the server for advertisement, so don't try to get too happy there.
Thank you for comparing a linkshell to an empire, though. Just a few key things missing here:
Religion
Intellectual
Economical
Militaristic (Lol, shut up.)
Just a small list of small difference between an empire and a linkshell.
Learn to read some sarcasm, ok?
I only compared their statement to an empire because I thought it was an easy enough example which apparently went over your head.
"Biggest linkshell in the server!" Oh, how grand that must be. I applaud thee for such a statement.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
The bigger a person's ego is, the harder and longer for them to try to recover should it get deflated.
The bigger a linkshell ism the less order there will be. Such will happen if you invite every Tom, Dick and Larry into a linkshell. Heck, why not their moms too, right?
Thanks, but you can't say how they're teaching the new people how to play, since you aren't in the Linkshell, you can't say anything. Sorry.
Again, the whole "you're not in the linkshell, you can't say anything."
Come up with something new, it's getting old.
Again, if I see some poorly equipped people from the same linkshell time and time again, I am going to assume that something is not right with the linkshell.
Oh but I'm not in the linkshell so my say is dismissed.
No, reread this. Where is he provoked? I could say that you MPK'd me in game, and I was provoked to make a thread on the flameboard. Where is your proof? All I see in that starting post is "Omg, he's gimp!" Nice basis for a flame.
He said he's had other occasions where he had the displeasure of meeting your ls members.
Those other times did not push him to the extent of flaming yet.
This one, did.
Picture this if you will.
Lets say someone walks up to you and flicks you on your forehead with their fingers and walks away.
First time, you're probably thinking "ok wtf was that?" but you go your merry way.
Second time that happens, you could think "Alright, something's up." but you still walk away.
Third time that happens and you see that these 3 people were high-five'ing each other what would you think?
I'm sure some people will be pretty mad enough to say something.
It's kind of the same crap that's going on here.
It's a social linkshell. Whether the linkshell members ask for help or learning for the game is not our choice, it's theres. If they don't listen to our advice we don't kick them or write flames about them. We just ignore them later on when they're crying about getting kicked from a party. However, since it's a social linkshell, people don't usually talk about the game anyways. That's right. People actually talk on this social linkshell. They just don't stand there and tear each other apart because they're more gimp than me.
Oh so you ignore them?
How are they supposed to improve then?
How can you just look the other way like that?
You don't ask them what happened, or how the party was or what the setup was?
You don't give them any constructive criticism or anything?
Wonderful.
See this sort of thing helps.
Giving newer players advice on how to handle links or where to XP and such will help them learn to become better players overall. If you PL them to 30 and hand them some keys, they're up for a damn rough time when they get Goblin Smithy agro and have absolutely no idea how to handle it, and it'll only get worse from there.
Saying people at L30+ have an excuse to miss vital equipment slots due to being 'new at a game' is a joke. Even playing Dragon Warrior III at age 7 I knew that having empty equipment slots was a bad thing. In pretty much every RPG ever made, empty equipment slots is a bad thing. That being said, it's not exactly a brainbuster to realize that it'd be a bad thing in this game as well.
It really is a no brainer.
You don't give them any kind of advice, they learn the harder way.
Maybe they have to go through the hard knocks a little, but you can at least give them some advice as to make that journey a little easier.
When I see stuff like this...
If there is a shell that has members with empty gear slots as late as level 25, I want to stay away fom them. The reason? I want to have fun. Winning is fun. Doing well is fun. Being good at the game and playing with others that are good is fun. Playing with people that can't do their job because their gear sucks is not fun. Melee with no gear? Good luck hitting anything. Mage with no gear? Probably means you can't be bothered to buy all your spells either. Not to mention even if you have em, your MP pool will be tiny, you'll have no -enmity, and you'll be resisted on any nuke or enfeeble you may try to throw. No gear pretty much means no food too. No food at any level is inexcusable.
You betcha I'm going to stay the hell away.
It also tells me that you know, this linkshell does not know how to do some things.
It tells me alot.
I can care less if there's 200 or 300 people in that linkshell.
If I see a good number of them missing gear or spells that are vital to any game play, then yes, I'm making a mental note of it and I will avoid the same people henceforth.
Answer me this: Have you ever seen Kumarr type to a person through /tell how to play the game? Have you ever seen Kumarr type to a person through /linkshell how to play the game? /say? /shout?
What about Pandetech? /say? /shout? /linkshell? /tell?
What's truly a shame is that you know so little.
I don't know, you tell me since you are in the linkshell.
I do know how incessantly annoying he can be. Shouting in the same zone for up to an hour or more with the same crap over and over. He can beat a broken record, I can tell you that.
I did /blist him within the first 5 minutes since all it was doing was filling my screen with orange text. Once I did that, voila, no more /shouts except from other people.
I have not removed him from my blist nor do I have the intention to.
What's truly a shame is that you yet again dismiss whatever I had to say just because I am not in your linkshell.
What's truly a shame is that you don't see what others DO see when it comes to Manbearpig.
What makes you think that all of the members ask for assistance? What makes you think that the leaders are always there to help? What makes you think that the leaders are giving them the wrong information?
I, on the other hand, know what kind of advice the leaders give because I'm on the linkshell. From my experience, they give pretty solid advice.
If people are crying about getting booted from parties, or something, wouldn't you at least see what went the f*ck wrong?
Who said if the leaders were giving people wrong information? You did, don't try to twist words around and shove them down my throat.
Sorry that you ACTUALLY have to deny seventeen thousand times! JESUS! So you have to say "no" that many times?! Think of the time that must take! Wow, this piece of information truly makes me want to never join the shell again oh my GOD!
Blacklist?
No?
Maybe not everyone has perfect memory, so you better get it through your head that they don't do it on purpose. <3
Oho, not quite.
If you check your friggin log, you can see who you asked before as well as pressing Ctrl + R to see a list of people who did respond to you.
If you check your log, you should be able to tell as well as know who you talked to.
You do not need a perfect memory.
You just need a friggin brain.
Use it, it's there in your skull and it's not there to just only take up space.
If I have to refuse at least 3 times and you still don't get it, I will label you as a retard.
Oh but hey, that's just me.
