Marijuana debate, decriminalized or no?

Well this went the way I figured it would go when you start talking about pot. It's obvious that most of you know nothing about it other than "I smoked it and this is what it is" so I won't comment any more on this topic. Which is one of the main reasons that it will not be legalized. Most of the people that do it give in to this pot-head hippy mentality and never really try to learn what it actually is that they want to happen.

Happy smoking.

So you read some shit up on weed online an now your smarter than everybody huh? Hey I bet the same thing happens when I read up on sex too huh? If I read enough I"ll be a Supa Luva.

Live a little..........

It is 100% legal. So are all other drugs. From what I hear, holland is a disgusting place with a bunch of layaround heroin addicts.

AHAHAHA! that honestly made me laugh. Have you every been to holland?

Basically they have amsterdam. They have the red light district in amsterdam. Pretty much everything seedy happens there and the rest amsterdam is a very nice and clean place. The rest of holland is flat and full of countryside. Holland is one of the nicest, friendliest and cleanest places i have ever been too.

You really shouldn't take second hand information and use it.

Oh and its only pot thats. Also prostitution is but it has to be through a registered brothel or something...basically the laws they have on pot smoking and all other stuff is kinda loose but the laws they do have they keep very firmly. Probably better than the "have loads of laws and keep only 1 or 2" senario that seems to be happening pretty much everywhere else.

My bad, I was using old information.

Between 1988 and 1997, heroin addicts treated at Dutch metha-done programs increased from 6,500 to 9,800, an increase of 50 percent.

I had seen a link to this on another message board a couple of years ago, and the person in question was talking real bad about Holland.

Upon further investigation, I found that If you ask inhabitants of Amsterdam about their society's paramount problem, their answer may well be the unsightly amount of dog turds which is spread richly each & every day across the otherwise clean, well organized and well preserved city streets and parks of Amsterdam.

I made a uninformed generalized statement about a place I have never visited. Sorry. I try to stray away from ignorant statements such as that, but i had just woken up and was fairly pissed about a great many things and feeling all around lazy as well. I apologize to anyone I might have offended that lives in holland.

Ya but isn't the Red Light District the only place worth visiting in Holland anyway? So in that sense he's right.

I'm Dutch by the way. And I wanna go there one day.

Your ancestry might be Dutch, but you aren't Dutch unless you live there.

I'm just gonna reiterate again about my views on pot. This is coming from a person who has had a sister killed by a drunk driver, and has had many alcoholics in her (well her husbands) family. Also someone who grew up in the 70's around a helluva lot of pot smokers.

I'd rather be around someone who was high on pot vs. a person who's been drinking alcohol any day, week, year, century, millenium, you name it.

Another thing, she doesn't know I know, but I know for a fact my daughter gets high. I look at this way, I'd rather see my child smokin' pot than gettin' drunk any day.

Personally I wish they never would've legalized drinking again. I wish during Prohibition, it would've stayed that way.

PS. Again, I do not partake myself. I personally don't care for it. But I also don't mind when people are around me and high vs. drinking/drunk.

Not everyone drinks the same way Kat. I go to my friends house, and we all get drunk and pass out. No one ever drives, no one ever leaves. We are responcible when we do it.

I know you have suffered loss, and I am sorry for that, but for someone who has lost a person in a bus accident, can I say ban all the buses?

Alcohol is a drug, and it should be treated as such. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

As far as pot goes, I dont really care about it that much. Leagalize it, dont, whatever.

Ok fine... I left once drunk, shut up Panda.

I understand that Falsey. But you are what? Mebbe 1 in 1,000? (And that's figuring low.) Think about how many people EVERY Friday nite after they get done with their work week go to the bar. You thinkin' about that  ?

I rest my case.

No I agree. There is a lot of stupid people that do stupid shit, and then sometimes smart people do stupid shit. It happens every day Kat, of this I am sure. But to start banning things left and right... I dont know if thats the America I like. We have choices and options, and banning something will only make it worse. Prohibition proved that by "solving" 1 problem(bannig booze) you create an even worse problem(organized crime).

Agreed about the organized crime part, but we still have that don't we with crystal meth, cocaine, crack, pot, heroine, need I go on? Basically what I'm trying to point out is, the lesser of the two evils is someone who gets high on smoking pot vs. someone who drinks. This is only my personal opinion from bein' around the two different forms of "drugs".

I'm also saying that I cannot understand to this day why drinking is legal whereas pot is not. The only solution I have ever been able to find is because they cannot tax it properly. And, again, these are my personal opinions only.

I just think that drinking goes back thousands of years and has been very accepted openly amongst everyone in the world. I'm not really sure how popular pot is, or was, back in ye-olden-days.

And so was Opium. But we all know about opium much better now than we did in "ye-olden-days" eh?

Again Falsey, I'm a 70's child. I may not have done them all, but I sure as hell know about 'em, and was around 'em growin' up  .

I'm just a 22 year old kid thats done with college who likes to get drunk with his friends, watch movies/play games, and call people on my cell phone and tell them how much I love them.

Please Kat, dont take away my Captain Morgan!

I won't take your Captain Morgan away  . But my point is, I'd rather see ya with a joint in your hand (are they still called joints btw?) instead of a glass^^. Again, it's just my personal opinion. And, I do need to point out that it all needs to be done in moderation. Excess of anything is always harmful.

I won't accept my daughter smoking pot untill she is 18, and would hopefully know better than to touch any other drug. Now, me not accepting it won't stop her from doing it, but I'm sure as hell not going to condone it.

Teenagers are too impressionable to be allowed to do pot. At least at 18 they might have the common sense not to hang out with people are into hard stuff. I sure didn't, and boy have I payed the price over the years.

I fully agree. My daughter is 23 and married. It doesn't really matter if I accept it or not; she's an adult. And I probably won't ever let her know that I know and do accept it. Point is, I'd rather know she's gettin' high vs. drinking (she doesn't drink). Again, my personal opinion.

Yeah, I thought to myself as I was writing it that I have no idea how old your daughter is.

Once they are 18, you can put your two cents in, but past that your just being wasting your breath. My mom would still make me suffer to this day if she knew I was still smoking, only becuase she went through a lot to get my out of trouble in the past.

Just stumbled upon this, My 2 cents..

Personally I don't have any feeling either way for legalization. Make it available like beer (age restricted and taxed) or keep it illegal, I have no stance at this time. I don't use it, never have, so I don't have an attachment.

As for *current* users, I think it is wrong on lots of levels. First, it's against the law. I personally don't believing in breaking the laws, so that is pretty cut and dry with me. And before you say something like "I bet you speed and that's against the law." The last time I got a ticket for speeding was over 10 years ago. Although I have gotten tickets for other things..

I also have issue with supporting the illegal drug trade. We all know the bad things that happen with this industry. I am of the opinion that if you put your money into it, you are taking cash out of your Karma Account. One could make the argument that if you grow and process your own, and never buy it, this is mitigated, but I don't see it that way. I would find it hard to believe that a drug user is a 100% user of their own product 100% of the time.

Lastly, I have dear friends that have been lifelong (10+ years) marajuana users. Panic attacks, mental slowness, paranoia are a few symptoms that 100% of these friends deal with. I would not say that it's a direct cause and effect (that could never be proven), but I will say that it's anb INCREDIBLE coonisidence.

Just my thoughts..

Captian MPK Falsey! I've seen it!

On the subject of panic attacks, and what have you that you mentioned above crooked,

I have family members that are lifelong drinkers and have liver problems. I have family members who are alcoholics, and alcoholism almost split my parents up about seven years ago. I also have family members who drink and nothing is really wrong with them. I also have family members that had drug problems including with marjauana, though no physical effects that I know of. I also have family members that smoke pot and nothing is wrong with them either. Well there is plenty wrong with my family, but that is another story.

I have friends who are addicted to marajuana (no it is not physically addictive but it sure as hell is psychologically, as anything can be) and when they do not have it they become incredibly unpleasant people. But I also have friends who are addicted to video games and become incredibly unpleasant people when they haven't played a game in a few days.

What I'm trying to say is that dependance, mental and physical issues, and all of those effects and issues caries from person to person, as it does with caffiene, as it even does with cocaine and heroin. Anythsing in moderation is not going to be that big of a problem in peoples lives, and education and self motivation is the only thing that is going to help people learn that.

Man, your friends need to seriuosly either seek help, or quit smoking bro. I myself have been smoking for 13 years, and all of my friends do as well. (birds of the same feather flock togather) None, I repeat, none of my friends have any of the symptoms you have mentioned. Some of them are brighter than others, but that is just the nature of things.

Some people can take it, and some can't I guess. I just don't know of any that can't.
