The way I see it, is you are what sex you are in the game, thus if you are male playing a female as far as I care, your female. So if you’re homophobic, you should not be playing a female to being with. On the same token, people should not assume your characters sex matches that of your real life sex. So if you’re homophobic, you shouldn’t be hitting on female characters to begin with.

This is a game, and as such you should have be having real life relationships with someone’s character. If you want to have a real life relationship with someone, then have it with him or her, not their Mithra.

Perfectly stated. I treat everyone by their game gender, with the exception of Mithras like "Imaguy" or people that put things like that on their comment. Lol even if I know someone has a diff gender outside of the game, I still call em by their game-gender. All mithra = her to me. It's simple really, if you don't like the idea of being called "her" don't make a female char. If you like it or just don't care more power to you.

The problem is that "should" or "shouldn't" isn't the way to go about it. People can do whatever it is they wish to do, no one's place to tell someone what to do or not to do. But I guess the message is that one has to consider the possibility that the game gender doesn't match the real life gender, and a strong possibility it is.

I think he ment should, like it's with their character not with them. Whether you want to admit it or not every time you log on your role playing, as in you are your character, am I a cute pudgey little taru? no, tho I am the first two =P. Do I go around with 2 knifes and kill crabs? no. Everything you do in FFXI should be kept there, it's like vegas babY!
