Xbox360 Mass Effect 2

One of those random moments, Martin Sheen was doing a commercial on Pandora and suddenly I couldn't help but envision him in the Illusive Man role...

I lost my favorite character Thane in the "hold the line" part where a biotic is protecting us from the swarms :(. Seriously, i almost started over there to pick a character who would survive like Grunt, Legion, or Zaeed, but then I decided against it since this way it's really genuine. Poor Thane getting carried away like that!

Ok I stand corrected. Squad Cryo ammo is just awesome. Especially playing Vanguard, tried it out while I was messing around with the new shotgun. Having enemies frozen makes it easier to pick off the others around it. Also, charge or biotic ability on a frozen enemy = instant death.

You can turn on squad cryo, and still pick a separate ammo for yourself, it's great. You'll have to do new game+ to have that many points to spend but with maxed Charge, Shockwave, Cryo, Champion, just wow.

Also the new shotgun along with the sniper rifle is better than taking the Claymore IMHO.

I played a little bit of the first one but the camera view actually made me nauseous. Just wondering if part 2 was the same way. I'd really like to play it. :/

A few questions on my part

1: How do you get everyone to survive the end? I'm a gamerscore geek and I lost Miranda and Thane. Miranda wasn't loyal since I sided with Jack but I also lost thane even though he was loyal. Here's how I did things:

Vents: Sent Thane through vents.
Ground team: Garrus leader, Took Grunt and Jacob with me.
Survivors: Sent Mordin back with survivors since I thought he would be most likely to die in conflict (He made it).
Garrus leader of ground team again. Killed reaper with Jacob and Grunt, both survived
Miranda died from ground team. but everyone else made it. Had no idea what happened to thane. He was red at one point so I'm guessing he died through the vents?

2: I played a female character and kept trying to romance Jacob I kept talking to him and all he ept saying was "I'm good Shepard, Ready for anything, we'll be loud and spill drinks on the citadel" What do you have to do for the romance scene?

3: How hard exactly is Insanity difficulty?

You have to pick people that fit the roles you need them to fit in. I think people who are disloyal are less likely to make it, even when picked in the right roles.

For the vents, a tech-oriented; for the other team, someone with command experience(somehow mordin doesn't count). For survivors, send a combat specialist, lead the other team again needs command experience. There also seems to be some randomness as to who dies after you beat the boss at the end.

Here's what I chose:

Vent: Legion
Other Team: Garrus
Biotic: Samara
Other Team: Jacob
Suvivors: Jack(Died)
Final Team: Miranda/Garrus

If you have disloyal people don't put them in charge of anything. Have them hold the line at the end and hope they survive.

Insanity I don't know what to say, what level do you play on now? If you play on normal it will be a shock lol. Everything has armor pretty much, and enemies have higher health, and on some parts they just spawn forever.

You have to know how to use your powers because if you rely solely on shooting stuff you'll run out of ammo.

On the last mission.

I went Tali - vents, Garrus, 2nd team leader both times, Samara on the biotic shield, survivors Mordin, Miranda and Samara for the last fight.

Just finished a second playthrough, used the ME1 saves repository to start a fresh character with decisions in ME1 that I liked. FINALLY slept with Miranda and saved my whole crew, no one died in the final level. Definitely a keeper for ME3.

Who did you send where?

Legion in the vents
Garrus for the second squad
Grunt to escort the crew
Samara as the Biotic
Garrus leading the other squad
Brought Garrus and Mordin with me to the final fight

Basically the same as what I had before, I just sent grunt to escort the crew instead of Jack. Also, since I was importing an ME1 character, I was easily able to max out paragon so I didn't lose Jack or Miranda's loyalty after completing Jack's quest. That might have helped had I chosen Jack to escort the crew again, but I wasn't going to take any chances.

On the part where Samara is your biotic, who was in your group? I had Jack as my biotic, with Miranda and Thane in my group. Well Thane got taken away because I assume he wasn't a "stout" character.

Both playthrough's I used this combo to success:
Tali in the vents
Garrus as the leader for both squads
Thane as the escort
Samara as the biotic shield
Took Legion and Grunt with me all the way through.

Keeping the second run through as the keeper though, cause I managed to save the entire standard crew (was able to do Legions loyalty mission before the Collector attack somehow), as well as not loosing a single squadmate. And yes, loyalty for everyone. It's not hard.

Tip for the paragon/Renegade check to keep both loyalty, before the mission, use 3000 element zero to switch your class to the 100% paragon/renegade boost if you're using the 70% one instead. Doing that might raise your levels high enough to pass the check. (Which requires about 95% of the bar filled to pass) If you're using the 100% boost class, talk to your crew a bit, there's some easy +2/4 scores just by talking to them. For this reason I left Jack and Zaeed's missions until the very last moment before I HAD to go to the Reaper ship. After I had done those missions I'd acquired enough Paragon to pass Tali and Legion's confrontation check without switching to 100%.

I just might have to give Insanity a try, as I found Hardcore laughably easy (AFTER a few assault rifle upgrades at least, and once I noticed I still had the M-76 Revenant...duh).

I had Grunt and I think Zaheed or Legion.

Was Jack not loyal? The only way you can lose people is through bad decision making, or having characters who aren't loyal. You can also lose loyalty with Miranda or Jack/Tali or Legion if you can't charm or intimidate them in to backing down in their conflicts with one another.

It doesn't matter whos in your party in regards to keeping/losing people based on loyalty until after the final boss. You only lose people in your party before then because of the bad decisions/loyalty issues with characters you've chosen for specialty tasks.

This also extends to choosing your team to fight the final boss. Even with everyone loyal, if you take two of the best offensive characters to fight the final boss while the rest of your crew holds the line, Mordin(or any disloyal character) can die simply because he's not that kind of character. He even says it if you probe in to his history. It seems as though if you leave Grunt behind to defend, everyone'll make it out regardless of who you take with you. Barring loyalty of course.

Winning choices:
Vents: Tali/Legion/Possibly Kasumi.
Fireteams: Garrus/Miranda/Jacob
Biotic*: Samara/Jack

Even though Miranda tells you any biotic character could work, considering even Samara and Jack are straining at the end, Miranda/Thane/Jacob being hybrid class characters means they're bad choices for the shield.

I had Legion in the vent, Garrus as fire squad leader twice. I think my bad choice was having Thane at the part where he was one of my teammates when Jack was shielding us. I used Thane because he's my favorite character. I just checked at the bioware forums, and an employee post pretty much just confirmed that at that part, I needed a character like Grunt, Legion, Zaeed to be with me, or other characters would be taken away by the flying collector "bees".

I had Tali and Miranda with me and Samara on the bubble, and no one got taken, and they are probably the two weakest people you can bring along aside from Mordin.

I use Tali for the vents, Garrus for squad leader both times, just pick some random loyal person to go with the crew, have Samara on the bubble.

I read that every player has a hold the line score, which doubles with loyalty. Your true soldiers have the highest score, Grunt, Zaeed and Garrus, so if you have an unloyal person or a weak person you should leave them to hold the line with those three if you want the best chance for them to survive.

EDIT: I don't know what factors affect the Miranda/Jack, Tali/Legion fights. I needed to max out my paragon bar to break up the Miranda/Jack fight on one playthrough, but on my last one I broke it up with like 60%ish paragon.

There must be some other factors, I think the longer you wait the harder it is though.

It's not harder the longer you wait per se, but the Paragon/Intimidate required scales up with your level.

For the final mission I got a pattern down that has worked for me 3 times so I give it a stamp of approval.

Basically, once the loyalty missions start popping up, I do them right then.

I have everyone loyal by the time I go to the final mission.

Tali in the vent
Garrus leads the fire squad
Jack does bubble
Garrus (or Miranda) leads second squad
Legion escorts crew back
Garrus and Tali for final fight
No deaths
