Massive Sigs and Avatar Images....

It'd be neat if Papusa made some sub-admins to enforce the rules, since he's been really busy with RL troubles and stuff (bless his soul..)
I think Sabia, Jender or Mai would be great at that sortof thing. They just seem to handle stuff so well. =P

Though I believe stickied under General Discussion, Papusa changed the avatar limit to 120x120...or somethin like that. I know he states otherwise than the limit posted under "edit profile".

You... realize that some people just overlook that.... right?

If it's a reoccuring problem, have you tried PMing them before? If you've PM'd every person that has a sig and/or avatar too large, then i'll shut up right now.

I was trying to say if you've even so much as glanced at the policy, you can't miss it. Which means the people whose sigs are too large haven't overlooked it, they never saw it in the first place. And if you'll notice, people are suddenly starting to read the rules, now that this thread's up.

No, I haven't PM'ed everyone about it, though I have pointed a few huge sig users (100+ pixels over the limit) to the rules/regulations page.

*points at his own sig* 521 x 218, over the limit by a small amount. *points at yours* Same thing, 404 x 225, over by a bit. I'm not complaining about the small infringements, I'm talking about {/point} those huge things.

And I really don't understand why you're getting so worked up about this, I made the joke on his sig as a joke, nothing more. There's been far worse on this forum.

(Last minor gripe, zOMG always has OMG capitalized, it originates from people hitting the Z key while trying to hit Shift for the capped OMG. Random useless trivia, whee!)

I've PM'd Ronith about his avatar image before (the rock one) and he just replaced with with a different one the same size.

I don't have anything against him, just his lack of reading the rules that are clearly marked not in 1 but 2 sections of the site. Here are some more examples of Avatar/sig images that are way to big:

I've PM'd people before but I really don't thnk I should have too. The rules are in 2 boards stickied and clearly marked....why am I still PM'n people?. Just getting frustrated >.<

I don't think it'd be necessary to have a Signature police force to get everyone in line. If anything, I would suggest putting the rules in a sticky on the Flameboard as more people visit this section than the:

Guidelines for Forum Use Within
READ BEFORE POSTING

lol...

And I think it qualifies as a flame if it pisses you off.

I know this is a board....but, if this were say, RL, or a MMORPG (lets say, FFXI), and you broke a rule, there'd actually be no "I didn't read the rules, gimme another chance" deal, you'd be flat-out screwed. =P

Not to mention, if the admin wasn't busy with some RL problems, he would just flat-out fry your avatar/sig if it's too big, and/or give you a "special" title...so some people here are sortof lucky..

Agree and agree, Pupusa is one of the nicest (or busiest, can't say for sure) admins I've ever met.

i have a bit of a suggestion for the avatar thing. On another site I visit, when you go to put your avatar on, it auto-maticially resizes it. If it's a little too big, it downsizes it to the max :X Useful for this eh?

-- Because i'm the one that made the sig. Mistakingly made it larger than I imagined. You posted his signiture. Then Sabia posted his avatar. This thread seemed as though targeting one person, and I don't think that's right to bash someone on a public forum if you didn't even PM the guy about the problem. Some people don't know they're doing something wrong, bashing someone on a public forum is not how you show them they're doing it wrong. If you just politely PM them about it, much would be resolved, this thread would not of been made, blah blah blah.

Sabia:

If you've PM'd him about his older avatar, and his newer avatar is just like the other, maybe the point wasn't carried over properly? You should of PM'd him again after it and post the forum rules along with it, and ask him to read it. If you've done that already then :X i'm dumbfounded...

Its like going over the speed limit, but the cop is a friend, and the friend is teired of giving you a warning once a week, so the cop finaly says something, and then people get upset. I dont speak for amin here, but dont like the rules, dont post on here, dont argue about it, its not worth it. :P

And trying to pamper would be-offenders isn't the answer either. People should just be responsible for their own stuff.

You can't say to the law in RL either, "I didn't know officer."

I'd agree with you totally if this wasn't the flameboards, but it is.

Just pulling off the top of the page...

Aandj...

Deucrobont . . . (>.>);

Konartist

Direct flames towards a person, no doubt as to who it's targeting. And we can all be sure those people didn't get PMed before the flame was posted.

This thread here isn't a direct flame at him, or even a flame. It's people like me and Sabia ranting about an ongoing problem, and pulling examples from the first people to pop into our heads, being Ronith.

And note the posts above this. Don't matter if you overlooked the rules, they're still the rules.

Are you meaning, in forum speak:

Doing something that is against the rules, and one of the admin's sees this and just so happens to be a friend, and he/she gave you a warning about it a few times. Now is tired of PMing you about it and decides to take action. (people get upset? who? Because if the 'cop' said something, surely he said it to the person, because if the cop was to say something publicly, how? and how would it be announced without sounding stupid?)

Why should I of PM'd him again? i sent him a PM saying "Please make your Avatar no bigger than 100 px by 100 px" or something along those lines....why should I have to do it again?

I know I mod a lot of these boards and Pupusa is a buisy guy but I really shouldn't have to PM people in the first place. The rules are clearly marked. Heck he posted in the "Sig image gallery" thread in the Fanart board with a sticky right beneath it telling the rules of making an avatar/sig image.

I'm not targeting Ronith directly, there are a lot of people on this board who aren't following the rules...I mean a few pixles I'll let slip but people are going way overboard and it messes with load times and format on the board, making it unpleasent to read. I have enough work keeping topics in appropriate boards, deleting double posts, helping peeps with problems, playing the game and having a life without people dissreguarding easy rules to follow.

I think youre over analyzing this .....

Just read it for what it is; Sabia=cop; Cop sent pms to people, people dont respond, cop makes post, and now you upset at cop for doing her job?

Like I said, if you've already stated the rules of the avatar size to him/any other person, then i'm dumbfounded. Nothing for me to say :X

Few people who don't obey the rules bring down the wrath for the whole population.

...Enough of this.

Look, Oni, we know you screwed up with his sig, that's an understandable mistake. But, you failed to fix it immediately, bring it to his attention, or any such. Now you're defending -your- failure to PM him about the large size of his sig, and complaining that we haven't? Take some pride in your work and go fix it, rather than continuing this debate.

A cop wouldn't publicly announce his/her's offense. The cop would of taken action. Or, in forum terms: The admin would of taken action.

Didn't Sculli/Admin. have the ability to delete someones signiture/avatar if it did not follow forum rules? Leaving a note saying why the action has been taken.

I have already PM'd Ronith after reading people having complaints of it.

Fixing it? Can't. My parents are divorced, and my mother has the computer with the file to be able to fix it, and he got the PM with the sig in it on saturday/sunday(saturday i couldnt' visit boards, static all night with friends), I checked sunday, he recieved it. Then I had to leave to my fathers. However, I have sent him a PM to tell him people are complaining of it being too large, and I told him I can not fix it, so I ask him to save it to his comp. and resize it. I can't fix it on this computer because this computer sucks. Paint on this computer is broken. (Yes, I use paint, I don't have Photoshop).

I only have pull in certain forums, not the whole board. Sculli Would nerf w/o warning and he did make a public announcement in Gen boards of people who had sigs too big. Pupusa is buisy and only spends time on the boards in bursts....why should he come back and deal with stuff that is allready posted in the rules? Why make more work for him Oni? It's common sense.

"Am I fucking up the layout of the board?"

:x
