by level 50, i expect everyone in the party to be able to skillchain, have at least average gear for their level, NQ armor all around, maybe a sniper or astral, don't need 2, most mobs are still low eva with sushi.
i expect the whm and rdm to have haste on at least the tank and one other melee, maybe all the melee if things are going well. rdm should slow, para, blind, bio/dia, refresh everyone in turn, if they are still meleeing that shouldn't be a reason to slack on thier job.
the 2 melee should be able to SC, with an MB from the BLM.
with all of these things happening, a party with average equipped players will pull 3k an hour. with greatly equipped players you can get 4-5k an hour.
at 41 i picked up a rank 2 whm and rdm (whose sub was one lvl gimped so i was scared). the rest of the party was veterans from my LS, or i had seen them around. we pulled 4.8k first hour, 4.5 cause of some afks second hour. i finshed that party 1k till 45.
i ran out of paralyze tools that party, so i asked the rdm if he could pick up para(i was doing para slow blind) he quickly put that first, because he noticed i was casting paralyze first. i guess he assumed para was important spell just by seeing what i was doing.
that is what "Skill" is, noticing things like that. i got haste at begining of fight, if we ended up having an extra tough mob, i would get another haste.
this is coming from rank 2's first jobs. and you are telling me rank 5 "Veterans" in the 50's can't figure simple shit like this out?
i came back to NIN after months of not playing it, first time i ever used NI as NIN and i easily learned to count to 4, instead of 3. NIN might take the most "Skill" in this game, and i tanked for 15 min with a glare on my tv that only allowed me to see my chat log. now i've noticed i pretty much only look at log, but i peek up to make sure hate is on me cause i have all filters on for NIN, and also to see the Utsusemi icon. it isn't that hard, doesn't take much "skill".
I also xp'd partygirls bard once when she was lvl 74, we pulled 6k an hour in a regular party set up on golems. first time ii ever used brd in xp, i made macro's for all the gear swaps bards do, the basic songs, got a request from the nin for what songs he wanted to see when and we went along at a good pace. not that hard.
people just need to get thier heads out of their asses.
