Metal anyone?

i dunno man, ..i think tool is heavy(in its own way) but not metal. no disrespect too your opinion on the matter
 
did anyone have a chance to go to bonaroo this year? I only went for two bands though considering it's a huge hippie-fest. Metallica played a great set, nothing from the past few decades which made me happy. Kill'em All, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All, and Ride the Lightning saw much action that night. Anyways, also went for Mastodon, who was great as always.

On another note, for shits and giggles, i was checking out some bands at the local venues and found these guys called Autumn Aria. The band is rather new, so they dont even have an LP yet, but their myspace has a load of good tracks. Check them out, you may like them. Not the heaviest shit around but better than most opening acts i see nowadays.
 
i didnt go to bonaroo last year but there is a solid show coming too my town soon
Parkway drive, misery signals, arsis, arsonist get all the girls, suicide silence, as blood runs back, emmure and a few more... the trash and burn tour..stoked

well they have the thing that i think makes good metal. melody. not just blast beats/bashing of the drums. guitar style reminds me alot of Amon Amarth or old old In Flames(overall). look forward too hearing more of them in the future :)

Like I said metal has so many sub genre it hard tell which is which. Linken park, Breaking Benjamin are alternative metal walking the fine line between rock and metal. Unfortunately to be heard on most radio station in the US you have to. Personally I don't even lission to the radio after hearing euro infunece metal music. I enjoy all forum of music but by far my favorite is the smooth sounds of the brand of metal called Symphonic metal or the blend of dark harsh and clean vocals of gothic metal.
 
I hate clean vocals mixed in with my growls.

You will not lump quifs like papa roach and linkin park together with Disturbed and early System. I will not allow it.

umm.. I'm a fan of metal, "hard rock" or many of those sub generes of metal you could say. A few I guess I'd name are: Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Black Sabbath, Static-X, Shadows Fall, System of a Down, Slipknot, Korn, Disturbed, Tenacious D, Slayer, Avenged Sevenfold, Metalica, many others I can't seem to remember.
One thing about System of a Down is that many consider them a Modern Metal or Heavy Rock. But the truth is, does it matter what genere it is? They have damn good music, even though the lyrics are pretty funky.

:clap: I love how you said this, and no it doesnt matter. each band tries for something different, what makes a band in my mind is if i can name them, before the singer starts or before the key lyrics play, then they did a good job establishing their identity.
