Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots trailer

Oh... My... Fucking... God.

That was by far the best MGS:4 video I've seen so far! The game looks to be shaping up quite well, and the characters seem awesome (Raiden... actually kicks ass now? :O )

Man, I need PS3... NEED!

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the "accepted ending" of MGS1 the one where Meryl dies?

and yes, Raziella. That was an acceptable ending.. although.. they never really say she died. They just assumed it :P you give up the torture and Ocelot says "well now I can have my way with her" or something like that and that's that until the end where they assume Meryl is dead. That or they chose that Snake saves her and just ignore that she died in an ending :P
 
Well no, wait. You see her body at the very end if you fail the torture. She definitely dies in that version of the ending. I just thought I remembered Kojima saying that THE accepted (not acceptable) ending for the continuation of the series was the one where she dies.

That is an awesome trailer. However, there's a part of me still annoyed to see Raiden, even if he's finally grown a pair.

In MGS2: Substance; if you played through the alternate missions, she was aboard the boat, I think..

Metal Gear started on NES. The first two were on NES.

Jesus Christ. Why did Sony have to make the PS3 so expensive? And why did Konami have to put MGS4 on it!? So now I -have- to buy it! Because I cant live without my metal gear...

*SEMISPOILER AHEAD DONT READ IF YOU AINT PLAYED METAL GEAR SOLID*


















In the variation of the story where Meryl 'dies', you see her body after you defeat Liquid Snake during the fistfight atop the derilect Metal Gear Rex. Liquid taunts you throughout the fight that youre running out of time, she'll die if you dont hurry up.

If you failed the torture, Snake grips Meryl close and sniffs, and asks in an exasperated voice, "Meryl..!?......Meryl?!?!"

Then Otacon comes out and places his hand on Snakes shoulder, telling him, "Seems like we've both lost someone we loved...but the fight isnt over yet, Snake. We cant give up. We have to live, live for Meryl....I'll live for Wolf..."

I dont recall reading that the Acceptable Ending was the one where Meryl died, but it kinda has been a long time (what...98 thereabouts? I know VR Missions came out in '99...) since I read anything. I always figured the Meryl ending was the appropriate one, as both she and Otacon live.

And while they make no mention of her in MGS2, she is indeed in the "Snake Tales" missions, she replaces Olga on the ship. But thats just a side story, of course.

She's also in VR Missions, during the third Genola installment.

I dunno. I always kinda liked the idea of her living...but thats besides the point.

Guns of the Patriots is awesome.

10 points to the person who can name the game that Snakes metal gear sidekick that Otacon uses is from (Note: Its -not- Metal Gear, and it -is- a Konami game.).
