Don't laugh at me... I been having a really odd retro month playing old games.

This is the first time I played this game, and I has literally all my favorate things, Metroid, FPS, Transdimensional gimicks, Zombies even!

Anyways, I ask the community if anyone that played it had any issues with the game crashing. Specifically the causeway between the Temple grounds and the elevator to the Aragon Wastelands, and the Lasers after you open the Blast doors in the Pirate base. Its a hard crash, not a lock up. (Just before you get the Dark Beam presumably)

If your game ran fine that's good to know too, I just want a heads up.

My game used to crash at the point you describe. I just buffed it at my store (homebrew buffers are a big no-no) and it ran fine after that.

Moved to more correct forum, also.

I never had problems myself. I can't remember which system I played it on (I think the game is originally for the Gamecube), but I remember never having any crashing issues or anything like that.

Well I know when Metroid Prime was released there was a hit/miss error on like the first elevator, they fixed it in subsequent releases, but they also had a work around. I was wondering if there was a workaround for MP2E if it was common enough. But the game is kinda old, and my Google Kung-Fu is not strong ; ;

never had a problem with it, Love the metroid games they are challenging :O

One thing you can do to help iss to let the game preload a bit before changing screens sometimes. The workaround for MP1 if you get like elevator crashes is to wait in the elevator room for a few more seconds before actually hopping on, letting the game preload longer - the loading sequences only run for a set amount of time so if it fails to load the new room(s) in time, it causes a crash.

Thanks for the head's up! I'll give that a whorl. it actually makes sense wiht the other region I am having stuttering/problems with

Man I love Metroid Prime and Prime 2. I remember being tentative about them because I was used to the 3rd person side scroller Metroid (Super Metroid anyone? XD ). Finally decided to get them one day (E-Bay'd them both for $20, pawn shop'd a Gamecube for $50), and played the fuck out of them. I liked Prime more than Prime 2, but they're both very good game. Super Missile for the fucking win.

Now I just have to get a Wii so I can play Prime 3. mmm

And if you want to watch an insane speed run of Prime, look up the 1:28 speed run on Google videos. Insaaaane.

Just an update, I had a bunk disk.

Borrowed one from a buddy of mine and beat it.

Pretty good game, they fixed a lot of the little things in Prime 1 that I dind't like and added a few really annoying things too.

Prime 1 felt more "Metroidy" the environments were well constructed and expansive. Bosses were too easy or were too repetitive.

Prime 2 was good, I liked the 2 world thing, but the overall layout through the first 90% of the game was way too linear. By the time you got power bombs you started to have that old metroid feel of "Oh hey, there was that door on the other side of the world that I think might lead to where I need to go..." feeling.

The under water booster was dumb, it's only useful for liek 2% of the game if that. It could have been done differently, or left out completely. Grapple was kinda the same way, you only use it in like 2 places, then you get Screw attack and never touch it ever again. Apparently they fixed that in Corruption when they made Grapple more like an alt weapon/"Laser Whip" thing, and gave it to you early. And another gripe was the Annihilator beam... It was weaker than either Light or Dark, slow as dark, and single shot fire rate of light, and costs 2x as much ammo as either weapon, and all for what? Opening 1 frigging door needed to advance the plot? They should have just given it to you as soon as you got both beams and spaced out the acquisition of the Light/Dark Beams a little more... I really wish they used the Echo Visor a lot more, but it's understandable why they didn't, I just thought they should have had more separation between the light/dark worlds at some point, where the dark world was 'too dark' in areas.

Screw attack was done SOOOOO well. It seriously needed to be added sooner. The "wall Jump" aspect of it was a little weak and unnessesary though... The Dark Visor was done really well I thought. given the plot it actually worked, and made sense. All in all a good game though, Boss Fights were "Controller Tossingly" hard... I could usually beat them in 2-3 tries, but that doesn't mean I didn't spend 45 min each time trying lol... (The Mosquitto boss set and Quadraxis were rediculous)

I thought Prime 2 felt more "metroidy", to be honest. Prime 1's zones were EXTREMELY linear - look especially at Magmoor which is basically a giant straight line. Prime 2 had a lot more rooms with 3+ doors connecting them, with various interconnects and weaving tunnels.

Then you had Prime 2's return to the "multi-coloured doors" that were kinda in Prime but only for the basic beams. Supermissile, Multimissile, and Powerbomb doors just added that extra flair that made me think of Super Metroid more.

And yes, Corruption expanded on the Grapple very well, as well as using the wall jump much more (it was used in I think 2 rooms in Prime 2, once to escape the area you get it and again to access the final area... lol).

I think Prime 2 had the best bosses of the three. They were a lot more difficult than the other two games'. Prime 1's bosses were pretty much cakewalks (I know people that had trouble with Omega Pirate, then I showed them you could hit it with two Super Missiles per attack cycle and they were like "oh, nevermind, easy"), and Corruption's... they're very "multi-phased" in that you need to go through multiple different processes to kill them (think Quadraxis, best boss ever btw) but they all felt pretty rote after a while. It felt overdone to me, and none of them were really difficult at all in 3.

If you haven't played it yet, I'd strongly suggest picking up Corruption though. It's pretty much the best of the three, and that's really saying something IMO considering they're all stellar.

Yeah I'm on it lol, I just didn't want to do corruption without doing Echos. What i meant by linear was the gameplay, not the actual physical structures of the zones. Echos' zones were a little bit more 'cramped' too I felt, yes there were a lot of connections, but Prime really challenged the vertical. It really reminded me of the first and third metroids a lot. Where half the map involved the Y axis. I really felt the zone choices in Prime really made it feel like it was a remake of Super Metroid, with an Ice Zone added in for kicks(Favorate zone ever btw)

I really hope Corruption has more fauna than Echos... Even Prime was a little sparse, but damn, Echos was like 4 mobs tops per room, and maybe what? 10 different mobs total throughout the game? Please tell me Corruption is more populated....
