Probably meant it will be released worldwide.
If MGS4 fails to boost PS3 sales, then it will definatly go multiplatform i think.

Doesnt have to be a remake tho kira. Sony is claiming enough games as Exclusive that are not. UT3 is NOT, they say it is. Haze is NOT they say it is. They are both timed. IMO its the same for AceCombat6 and SplinterCell Conviction for 360, i feel they will be timed exclusive to 360 and moved to PS3 eventually. MGS could be timed to PS3 for now. But who knows. Its all sales with these next gen giants lol, 360 and PS3.
MGS4 will eventually end up on 360, believe me.

You're right about one thing, Ghost Babel was not a MGS game, and is not canon to the series.I've said it before, and I'll say it again. In the 9 year history of the Metal Gear Solid series, only one game has ever been ported to a non-Sony system. Count them, one. That's not to mention that all portable Metal Gear games have been for the PSP*.
One would think it was pretty clear which horse Kojima is backing by now.
*Don't try to rebut with the GBC game. That was Ghost Babel, not a MGS game, beside the fact that the GBC was the only handheld on the market at the time.

That aside, MGS has been ported to PC and Gamecube, MGS2 was ported to PC and Xbox. There is no reason to discount these.
Not to mention the fact that it's silly not only to limit yourself to the MGS arc of the overall timeline, that just makes the facts more convenient for this. Most of the Metal Gear games were ported or released on more than one console, often non-sony. The only two that have not, as of yet, are the non-canonical Ghost Babel, and MGS3.
There is also the fact that, until presently, there has been relatively little demand for a cross-platform release. Playstation and Playstation 2 were far more successful consoles, with a much larger userbase. Keeping MGS4 as a complete exclusive is simply risky business, since it relies on people buying a PS3 to purchase their game.
I guess we'll just see how much the people in charge of this like to gamble.
It's the same game on a different platform. I don't see why it shouldn't.I've said before that I don't count PC ports as that is a different market than game consoles, hence aren't included.
If you aren't counting the PC versions, I'll give you this.MGS1 wasn't ported, it was a remake some 6 years after the original was released. MGS2 was the only MGS game ported, and that was as MGS2: Substance for Xbox, which later came to PS2 also.
It's extremely difficult to quote actual sales figures when these companies continuously list their figures by "units shipped". Add to that, the NPD numbers have been showing that the PS2, nearing the end of its life, continue to outsell the PS3. There's no doubt in my mind that MGS4 will move consoles, but as you said...Aside from that, the only Metal Gear games released for a non-Sony console were the original Metal Gear (re-released in MGS3: Subsistence), Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (which was only released in Japan until recently, re-released in English for the first time in Subsistence), and Snake's Revenge, a game not only removed from canon, but practically disavowed by Konami itself.
The fact is that out of 13 Metal Gear titles, regardless of canon status, only 2 weren't released on or ported to a PlayStaion of some kind. And only one game has been ported to a non-Sony console within the same generation of systems.
Also, the PS1/2 have been out for an average of 8.5 years each, so to say they are more successful is a loaded statement. I don't have the numbers on hand, but unless I'm mistaken, the PS3 is selling about as well as the the last 2 were in this stage in their lives. Plus theres the fact that MGS4 is this generation's MGS2 in terms of anticipation. If it wasn't, people wouldn't be scouring so desperately to find any sign it will be multi-platform. To think it won't move consoles is fairly naive. Not the mention that Hideo Kojima has never been shy about taking chances. Raiden, anyone?
Maybe it is just me, but when MGS2 came out, I don't remember this big of a deal about wishing it were a multiplatform game. There's a reason many people want it: They don't have, can't afford, or just plain have no interest in the PS3, especially if it's only for one game.Ravic said:...scouring so desperately to find any sign it will be multi-platform.
