I have a HP Pavilion dv6506ca laptop. My external Mic doesn't work, whenm configing it, the only thing the mic "hears" is what is coming through on my speakers. So I assume it's a stupid Vista default setting. Does anyone have a fix to this? It'd be just swell.

I am confused. Are you saying your speakers are acting as the microphone, or that the only sound your microphone pics up is what is coming out of your speakers? I ask this because some speakers can actually be used as microphones as well. They aren't as clear, but they still work in reverse.

Yeah. I was on vent. And while setting up my mic, it showed what was being picked up on it. And what was being pick up was only the people talking on vent. So the output and input for the comptuer were the same. I'm drunk if you don'tet thtat let me know

Make sure you have the right source checked as your input device and that direct sound is enabled. See picture for how to.

It's not a problem with vent, its my sound card.

There should be a microphone option there, but there isn't. Does anyone know how to add a device to this?
