Aren't you somewhat baffled how a player with as much mobility as Vick gets sacked so much? If he was a run first player, he'd be gone at the first sign of trouble. He looks to pass first, and isn't able to do so because his team sucks.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Falcons release him, it could mean him getting picked up by a solid team because they'll be able to afford a player looking for a second chance, and then we'll see what he can do.

And chances are it wont happen this year. Goodell told Vick not to report to training camp. http://nfl.com/news/story/10266380. He's still be investigated by the NFL and the feds.

If he gets put into prison he wont be going into the stricter NFL. Hell the chances of him being suspended for a portion of the year are good even if he is found innocent.

Ah yes, I tend to not read posts that dont interest me, and his definitely fit the profile.

As far as a criteria on how long a player takes to blossom, there is none. there are plenty of players who break the mold either way. Overall, most non top 10 draft pick players sign 3 year contracts. At the end of that contract, or even after the 2nd year, a team knows if they have a diamond in the rough, or just a black rock.

The reason the 3 years is there, is because thats when you have to start paying more out because of the collective bargaining agreement, not because that is when they mature as players.

With top ten players, they tend to more "Sure things" so they sign their 1st and 2nd contracts pretty much all at once..

Vick's athletic ability is utilized when a rusher breaks through. If the whole O-line collapses in front of him, there are no rushing lanes for him to use.

I believe they need to let the feds put a bullet in his head if he is found guilty. And if he is innocent, they should break one of his legs like the Ravens did a few years back so he will learn his lesson on who he should associate with now that he is in the public spotlight.

And with a 95% successful prosecution rating coming off a federal indictment, I would say that it is very likely that Vick will NEVER play in the NFL again. If you have read the whole indictment, it appears the Roger Goodell has very good cause to tell him to "stay away from camp". His arraignment and bond hearing is coming up on thursday. Some of you may want to tune in; as it is much more entertaining to hear the official charges read to an alleged criminal and watch their reactions then to read the 18 pages of horror the Fed's published.

Vicks only real shot at being exhonorated lie in that little 5%, which consists mostly of felony charges being reduced to misdimeanors via a plea bargain; where he rats out the rest of the Dog Fighting Ring he was "involved" with. And in this case, the Feds might now have to shoot him. The criminals will.

If you really look at the history of federal cases, the true statistic for cases where the defendant was found not guilty and cleared of all charges is less than 1%.

BTW: The Falcons suck anyway. No big loss. Although it seriously sucks that they just traded Matt Schaub before all this happened. HA!

I think it's funny how dogfightin' isn't that big of a deal in the Georgia/Alabama area until Vick gets caught. Hell, if it was anyone else I'd say the cops wouldn't have even cared. I was born and raised on the Gerogia/Alabama border and dogfightin' and cock fightin' was a staple weekend event. Never saw a dog die, cocks are "fight to the death" though, and never saw anyone that got a fine, prison time, etc. The cops usually break up the party and leave or, on occasion, start tossin' in bets. Even if an event got busted up the cops would never come back, so it was like them turnin' a blind eye. These dogs are built to fight, just like UFC fighters... there is no difference.

Even if he gets sent to court which chances are he will because you could see the dog kennel in the aerial photos that were taken on the federal raid he had an ass load of dog house. Not to forget his name was mentioned well over 50 times in the report that was issued to the feds which lead to the charges. The trial, if it makes it that far, would probably be in February from what reports have said.

The Falcons no matter what at this point are better off just dropping all connections with Vick. If this becomes even more serious than what it is they're fucked. They got rid of their back up quarter back and have no one ready when Vick gets suspended besides Joey Harrington. They're fucked when Goodell suspends him, and you have to know that it's coming by now.

Just because I partake of the meat that was put on earth to be harvested for the betterment of those higher on the food chain does not mean I should have no feeling for those that are domesticated for companionship and entrusted to the owner to care for, nourish and support for the totality of their lifespan.

On the point of your "business" defense, if you are looking to protect your team/company and partners, investing in someone with incredibly bad PR with connections to alleged (incredibly) illegal activity that involves the harm and abuse of innocent animals. Animals that some would judge as children, because you'll hear just about any dog-owner say, "Oh he's like a little person, that's my baby!". I, as an investor in a very large technical firm, would be VERY displeased to learn that my money was helping (even in some miniscule way) feed something so horrid and negative. If the Falcons felt releasing him was their best option, he'd be gone by now. It may come soon, but atm they are still talking to the NFL to find out. The NFL has hired its own investigators to decide what to do with Vick since his case is obviously going to be delayed.

As for my home town, I didn't come in here on my high horse talking about how my area is so caring and would have anyone on the news who did this sort of thing.
