Just figured I'd start this thread again. This could be a welcome addition...hopefully we'll see some mature users from Midgard come over to both the server and the site!
OK I'll bite. I'm from Midgard and I gather we're going to be neighbours soon. Lots of us are incredibly angry about how this is being done - to be honest you're getting the easy end of it, but understand we're faced with lots of us losing our character names, every single one of our LSes being broken - and unlike a standard world transfer, this isn't being done via choice. We're being given no choice about where we go, and for all the talk of having more people to group with - I'm EU and I understand you're pretty much a desert wasteland with regards to an EU community. There's already been a couple of people giving away gear in WG and quitting over the move - and now we're being painted as four-headed heathens on here because we're from a server that doesn't schedule dynamis, and being warned before we've even moved that we're going to be publicly berrated and shamed if we "misbehave" (I've intentionally put that in quotation marks as your definition of misbehaviour is something that is perfectly standard behaviour on our server).
Now I've finally visited here, after the exhortations to do so posted on many of the forums I surf while avoiding work I should be doing, I feel even worse about the server "merge" than I did already. Yes I think it's rubbish, yes I think it's collossally mishandled by SE - but to sit and threaten us with internet vigilanteeism or making us social outcasts already, before we've even been made homeless - that's going to help the merge no end isn't it?
Midgard - the server's been on the recieving end of mass immigration itself when they let people shift for free from overpopulated servers. It's the server that in the past has been home to some of the more notorious incidents in history - although the shells involved in that have since gone by the by as people left the game or whatever. It's not a server with a history of scheduling dynamis - that's something that has never ever taken off on Midgard for whatever reason, and there has been people running up and trading glasses in the past - it died down with server populations falling, but no doubt it's going to be an issue - we've always just operated with first LS there goes, or randoming for a zone. That doesn't make us inferior people - it's just the way our server's operated - and it definitely doesn't make us worthy of some form of public humiliation and demonizing... how about meeting people halfway here? The word used by SE was a "merge"... and I really resent the thinly veiled threats that we do it your way or will be ripped apart in some form or other.
To be honest - after reading all this - I'm swaying more and more toward deactivating my account completely so if you do see me on the server it's liable to only be a brief stay. I'm not going to sit and give you some master list of people to avoid - you'll figure that out all on your own very rapidly, and these days, since world transfers - you never know half of the people on a server from one day to the next. But yep, thanks for the "welcome" and threats... always nice to start off on a positive footing.
Someone from my social shell was saying last night that they'd heard that folks from Midgardsormr were saying that they were going to ignore our dynamis scheduling and just steal zones. Did anyone else hear this also? It might have been in some of the posts that got lost.
OK I'll bite...(lots and lots of hate)
They have however shown a little interest to maybe start scheduling it, if not at least use the schedule to choose a zone which is not taken at that moment.
You know, perhaps the question to be asked is not whether or not the midgar people will use scheduling, but rather whether or not scheduling will be at all possible with so many new people. I just took a glance at a few of the "days" in the dynamis scheduling forum and presently with the people we already have they appear pretty full. If our population doubles (roughly) then I can see this being problematic for scheduling, even if everybody agrees to it.
this is true. what with most zones being low-manned and all, a larger populace could well damage any kind of scheduling out there.
If people will even want to do those zones once the cap hits 99.Don't forget how much easier it's going to be to low-man/solo zones when the 99 cap is introduced.
