Cubs: Vang left the server probably a year and a half ago at least...

On a more positive side, the server merge will allow more control over Sandy zones, meaning a much larger flow of Cuchulain's Mantles.

I'll probably avoid 90% of the Dynamis/Limbus/Einherjar carnage since I currently can't attend those events on my linkshell right now. By the time I'm able to attend those events regularly, the issue will probably have resolved itself.

Final Faf of Midgar....mine!!

what's a good casual linkshell to join on quetz? And for casual, I mean, not noob, but not calling you on your cell phone at 3am for a sandworm. somewhere in between ^^

Check out our shell, NoizyTribe. We occasionally do ZNMs including tier IV, and more recently we've been revisiting sky. It's not much, but we tend to keep ourselves occupied, and by no means do we require attendance to anything. We are, first and foremost, a social shell.

Come and introduce yourselves on the forums when you get a chance. That goes for any of you displaced Midgardians. Hate to think that some of you good people won't have a shell to return to.

Midgard Level 40 Noob Has A Question!

Out of curiosity, how is the game play for lower level players on Q? I kept starting and stopping playing a few times, until this past winter, I got bored and started playing on Mid. I ended up soloing up to level 40 before getting frustrated at not being able to complete my mission 2-3. Also, I do not think I was in more than 1 or 2 parties total all the way up to 40. This feeds the problem that I have seriously never learned how to party in the game. Even soloing, I totally got into the game, and hope to reactivate as soon as the merger madness is over.

Are there any LS on Q that will accept literal noobies, can you find people that will help out with missions and the like? I'm hoping. Anyway, I like the name Mid better, but with a chance for more people, I'm hoping for the best. It should be fun!

With the new level cap coming I expect a lot of people (including me) will need to level their subjobs higher and level some new subjobs that could potentially become really good subs later on.

I think you'll be ok.

Probably not very well known (I post on DV but not extremely regularly) but I've been on Midgardsormr since late 2005. Thief is currently my only 75, but the only real reason Dark Knight hasn't joined it is that I've stalled at 66 in order to test Dark Magic resist rates against IT mobs (I'm in quite dire need of additional tarutaru DRK66/WHM33s* if any happen to be available and willing to help; it's hard to get much data with a single character).

I've been part of an ill-fated Dynamis shell called WarPhrophets, so I can attest to a certain amount of zone-jacking going on (and we also had another shell that went at close to the same time as us actively try to recruit our members, primarily through the promise of gil payouts; at the time we only turned a profit on Sandy and occasionally Jeuno, and used that profit to subsidize our always-lossy Bastok runs). Technically I was main puller at the end, but we never managed to get enough people to run while I was so designated. Our shell did have some problems of its own (shell holder was a bit sloppy about point accounting / reporting on the website, website was vastly underutilized, and our recruitment standards were fairly low at a time when simply packing the shell with lots of bodies was unfeasible) but we were making solid improvements in performance and the main problem was ultimately the active attempts of another shell to gut membership. As for scheduling, we had a set time we tried to run (going in late was a common problem, but usually not more than about an hour), and the zone was usually decided a week in advance (but falling back on a backup zone was also a common occurance since two other shells ran at about the same time we did). We were highly unusual for most Midgardsormr Dynamis shells in only running once per week; a number of our folks joined this shell precisely because they couldn't commit to more than that. Our only successful city clears have been Sandy and Jeuno (we got fairly close on Bastok right before we lost enough membership to nullify all progress in terms of teamwork and coordination).

A lot of the longer-established shells will probably be eager to avail themselves of the calendar, but I'd expect newer, smaller shells to trample on it regularly. This will only get worse as the level cap increases and all-99 shells can low-man with much smaller and more sporadically-attended groups. I fear the response to lower (relative) mob levels will be for these groups to split into even smaller groups so as not to have to put up with being behind people for lotting...

Let's see... campaign-wise, the majority of the active population from Midgardsormr are in the Royal Army of San d'Oria, so you probably will see the biggest involvement upswing there. OTOH, Midgardsormr's kind of notorious for not doing campaign ops much, and rarely lifts a finger to prevent a non-city zone from falling to the Beastmen aside from efforts to dominate the Sandy map and get at Splitting Heirs. Bastok's not as bad off as Windy in that regard, it's only had battles in the city once that I recall since the underdog bonus update. Windy tended to have battles in the city every other week. FWIW, A friend of mine and I are interested in Cut and Cauterize runs when we can get a third member to idle in party for it.

As for my characters, my main is as noted a Thief main, and a Bastokan nationalist. If we do try to get some Ballista matches going (recall some attempt at this in WG earlier) she'd be up for it just on the national pride part (I'd prefer 60cap both for better balance and the choice between THF or DRK). She was born in Mhaura but raised in Bastok Mines (yeah, I didn't go with the 'you just wandered in here from points unknown' crap), with a rather unfortunate background that lead both to her learning to get by as a pickpocket and to some amount of prejudice against Humes, especially those of the upper class. I also have a Hume alt (who's had to change names) who favors mage jobs (particularly WHM), is San d'Orian with some ties to Bastok (her father is a Bastokan diplomat), and is much more of a peacemaker type concerned with maintaining the balanced and relatively amicable relationships between the nations rather than advancing her own nation's interests.

A bit too much disjointed rambling here, I suppose, but anyway, kupo.

*Don't necessarily need to be tarutaru, or even necessarily /WHM, but they need to be able to match my INT (73) without using Head slot, must not have any MAB (so no /RDM sadly), and definitely must be level 66. I'm going to be looking at whether I can switch to DRK/SCH myself when it's high enough

some of us are already leveling subjobs to lvl 50 so things may get abit easier for you and yes I was on migdar but I thought it best just to adopt my new home. Also with the merger we have alot more players around so hopefully that translates into more XP parties. Before the lvl 99 news hit I was out to level a third job after I did 75 merits and I may still do it but I'm not so sure I want to start anything else because I'd considered at least three as to be a utility toolbox for story missions.(Ranger, Dragoon and Samurai...now I'm think Dragoon because I already started that up to lvl 20)

Now that the lvl 99 cap was announced starting a new job from lvl 1 seems daunting....
