It's not all on the user's end, the lag. When I was accepted to beta test at the beginning of phase 1 I couldn't even play. It was to the point of fps 1 or at times 0. Then, during phase 2, things got better, it was playable, and I only had issues of lag, and they weren't really bad, near the crystals or in the craft houses where there were a LOT of people. I could eliminate all lag at that point by killing nonessential processes running on my computer. I left all game settings on high, mind you.
My system, which is 2 years old, barely meets the requirements at that and by killing off processes to free up ram and processor usage, many of the lower end systems that eek in should be able to play just fine.
So, instead of flaming them, why not offer some advice on what they can do to make improvements with what they've got. Of course, the OP may not have any knowledge himself on how to do these things and has a ton of money to buy a top notch system.
My system:
AMD Athlon Dual Core: 2.70 ghz(not o/c)
4 gB RAM(technically 3.25gB since XP does not register more than that)
ATI 4800 Series 512MB(not o/c)
OS: Windows XP SP3
