FFXIV Minimum Requirment Rage

Coincidently, did you know you can run FFXIV, FFXI and Stracraft 2 all at once without any of them crashing?

so when everyone hops on the PS3 version and SE says we cant update the game anymore for PC users it'll be due to the.

When I see screens of XI I still have a hard-time saying it's outdated. It's still a good looking game. I'd say WoW should worry about looking outdated before FFXI.

If they have PS3s name drop the game for PS3 release in March.
March? I'd heard the PS3 version was delayed till May 2011 now, ironic a game I thought was being designed with the PS3 in mind is having problems getting the product out. oh well back to ffxi awhile, no wish to drag the elitist PC crowd down with my old computer problems. ^^

My laptop was able to handle the open beta just fine, so I think Ill be ok, finding an uncrowded server is gonna be the trick since my original plans of going to Figaro were smashed upon learning its full o_O

Good luck with that, I think after next thursday the next best chance you'll get to enter a fairly uncrowded server is when SE makes a new batch of worlds.
SE's only released the Collector's editions and a couple of the servers have already filled up to a point where the game becomes nearly unplayable, even on higher end computer systems.

Well uploading as we speak, so hopefully we find a decent server since its me, a few friends from quetzy, and a few RL friends who played on other servers =/

Methinks you might be confused there TG.

Shirai is right. Some servers are overcrowded. My system ran the closed/open beta much better than the final release. I guess a this moment in time we can refer to the game as Crysis of the MMO world. A lot of people who can run other new PC titles are not able to run this very well...er, at least to their enjoyment.

Running fine on Istory. The only problems is crafting lag which is every where.

It's not all on the user's end, the lag. When I was accepted to beta test at the beginning of phase 1 I couldn't even play. It was to the point of fps 1 or at times 0. Then, during phase 2, things got better, it was playable, and I only had issues of lag, and they weren't really bad, near the crystals or in the craft houses where there were a LOT of people. I could eliminate all lag at that point by killing nonessential processes running on my computer. I left all game settings on high, mind you.

My system, which is 2 years old, barely meets the requirements at that and by killing off processes to free up ram and processor usage, many of the lower end systems that eek in should be able to play just fine.

So, instead of flaming them, why not offer some advice on what they can do to make improvements with what they've got. Of course, the OP may not have any knowledge himself on how to do these things and has a ton of money to buy a top notch system.

My system:
AMD Athlon Dual Core: 2.70 ghz(not o/c)
4 gB RAM(technically 3.25gB since XP does not register more than that)
ATI 4800 Series 512MB(not o/c)
OS: Windows XP SP3

The problem, I feel, with SE developers is that they are extremely poor at optimizing their builds for PC gaming. I can understand this since they have always been a console developer first and foremost. What I don't understand is why they would release both FFXI and FFXIV to the playerbase on PC first. The game is clearly designed for the PS3, as FFXI was clearly designed for the PS2, so why not showcase the game on the system it was optimized for? Personally, I feel that SE uses the PC gaming community as a pay-for-beta client base and really doesn't give a rats ass about PC gaming optimization.
