So as most of you know, I quit FFXI back in May. It's been nearly 2 months, and i've already been missing the game. I was just wanting to ask if anyone else has quit the game and restarted from scratch and had any success or anything. It's tempting but i'm not sure if I'd be able to deal with trying to obtain all the items I worked towards for 4 years prior. I guess it depends on the person, and their will to try and restart.

I wouldn't be able to do it. Also you got to think by the time you got to 75 and all that junk... FFXIV would probably be out by then or ready to come out.

It'd probably take you a good year to get leveled up, established, and back to having decent gear. Probably not worth it for a game that's already dying and will die for good when 14 comes out.
 
Honestly I'd wait for 14 if you want to return.

Of course if you sold your account you could always buy another or see if a friend who has quit doesn't want theirs anymore if you want to go down that road.
 
I quit about... 1.5-2 years ago now, I can't remember. I still have my character and all of my gear and gil lols.

No way in hell I'd ever go through the hell of leveling from scratch without the benefit of being able to farm on a higher level character for gear that isn't completely gimp as well as being able to camp shit to stock up an alt class.
 
Yeah I had Black Belt, only 6 75's, but all that HNM gear would be so annoying to re-obtain. So 14 is another MMO? I haven't read up on it myself.
 
back when I had to restart I did everything that took years in 3 months. It's not so bad.

Yeah I don't think it'd be so easy for me lol... Getting back all three black belt items, leveling BLM MNK NIN RDM SAM THF, Swift belt, Dryad staff, Joyeuse, all my merits.. All of CoP, sky stuff, all that stuff just seems impossible to re-obtain anytime soon if I restarted..

It seems simple at first like if I created a new character but then I realised it would be hard and like said previously, since 14 is coming out it might not be worth it, so I'm not sure to be honest.
 
You should NEVER sell or delete your account. Just in case you start to miss it, if you keep it, you can always go back to it when you feel you want to. Sucks you have to restart :(

I took a 3 month break from FFXI and it was great, I started to miss it and went back. I think restarting would probably be fun, just tedious because you have to do everything you once did before, again.
 
Yeah the only good thing is I'd restart on quetz and get back in touch with all my friends. Stay on Quetz for real this time too. If I come back it'll probably be in August.

It sounds fun to do at first but we'll see lol

Wouldn't really feel the same since I didn't obtain the stuff myself. It's an option though I guess. Would rather restart than buy one though.
 
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: "They always come back" =) Hope you get around to it man, sucks to miss this game, altho everyone has a point, you might be better off waiting for FFXIV.....
 
I know one of my friends quit the game a while back sold his account then decided to come back and reported it to SE as stolen >.> he managed to get it back after being gone for about a year.

Thing about XIV is that it says 2010, but that will probably be near the end of 2010. And not only that, when has SE ever really kept a promise? I feel it won't come out until like mid-2011. Of course they could prove me wrong, but they've yet to do that with about anything either.

I always thought restarting would be fun because it'd be nice to get away from end-game again, but would have to do those irritating things like getting gear you had before and doing the Limit breaks again. But I also figured that if I ever restarted, I wouldn't level the same jobs either.

I think you should return if you don't have anything else to do and really want to come back. I think you shouldn't return if you got more important things going on and you're just trying to avoid them.
