Missing it already..

I know one of my friends quit the game a while back sold his account then decided to come back and reported it to SE as stolen >.> he managed to get it back after being gone for about a year.

That usually results in the account being locked and takes forever and yeah.. I think a fresh start would be kind of cool. It's just the gear issue and stuff is the problem.

took him all of a week from the moment he decided he was gonna try and get it back.

Bleh, selling an account then locking it down? What a thieving dick.

Yeah I'm not that type of person. Not the way to go at all.

By the way, is anyone on here willing to create me a signature based off my old account? It would help when I return to try and get back to par with my old one. Please and thanks :)

I quit in March of 2008, and deleted my character. I restarted in May of 2008. Here we are in July, 2009, and I have accomplished more in the past year than I ever did in the 4 years I played on the other character.

Keep in mind, if you do start over, there are a shit ton of tedious quests you have to do. But you should know how to play the game now, and how to plan ahead for the things to come about, so everything should go by fairly quickly for you.

It boils down to this: Is this game how you want to spend your free time? If the answer is yes, than do it. If you're on the fence about it, you've got plenty of time to think about it. I doubt very much that this game is going to explode into a void when the new game starts up.

You could have SMN to 75 in 2-3 weeks, you would however have no gear or gil for gear. Nobody does CoP anymore so would be a huge pain in the ass to get that done again, even RoZ will suck. Diablo 3 comes out soon enough. The first 2 were really good I'm sure the third wont disappoint, Blizzard makes good games.

Yeah CoP would be a pain. I don't think RoZ would be really though. Just get a couple friends to help you out time to time. Biggest trouble would be Divine Might. ToA may be a pain to get through also.

Oh and Starcraft 2, thats due b4 diablo in December, likely in the next 2-3 months

Yeah that's the part I'm worried about the most. CoP, redoing ToAU, mainly that stuff. I have plenty of time just depends if I can find the help for it. :(

I've been feeling the same way recently but there's no way I'd want to restart from scratch. I've been thinking about buying a cheap account and playing socially but I know I won't get an account that was equal to my old one for very cheap :(

You can actually low man most of ToA. I think only a few fights for RoZ need 6. As for CoP a good static and you can be done in a week. I had some friends return to FFXI, so we gave them old low level gear we had and things they could npc sell for fast gil. In about 1-3 weeks you can get a job to 75. FoV is very nice for exping. The treasure boxes can also give gear. So it really boils down to "Do you want to come back or not."

Well I played for 4 years then made orinna fro scratch.. I had success, yah. More than I did on my first char. Good luck :)

So as most of you know, I quit FFXI back in May. It's been nearly 2 months, and i've already been missing the game. I was just wanting to ask if anyone else has quit the game and restarted from scratch and had any success or anything. It's tempting but i'm not sure if I'd be able to deal with trying to obtain all the items I worked towards for 4 years prior. I guess it depends on the person, and their will to try and restart.

I just quit as well. After my suspension I sold alot of gear and gave the gil, some items away to friends. I'm take this time and save up for FFXIV.

So i hope you come to FFXIV Aced I for one enjoyed playing with ya.

I dunno, I would look at why you quit in the first place. Has anything really changed since then? Do you miss the game or just hanging out with friends and the social aspect of it? People don't like to talk about it, but plenty of players are addicted to this game. I dunno if you were one of those people, but I mean...don't screw yourself.

If you do start up...I wouldn't have some kind of goal of becoming what your last character was. I mean...whats the fun in doing the exact same thing over again? Plus like you said...that would take quite some time. I'd make sure to go into it with realistic goals, otherwise you will just be turned off by the grind of ffxi again (which very well could happen anyway).

We both retired around the same time...I feel like we are in similar positions. Sometimes I think about coming back, mainly to finish up some goals in-game and to reunite with all the great people I met over the years...but then I remember why exactly I quit and honestly I don't want to do that to myself again. I'll log on and screw around on pld/dnc in campaign...but thats about it.

Just be honest with yourself before giving FFXI another go. As my title on this website was for a while, "FFXI is a hell of a drug." Make sure it doesn't ruin you.

might be better if you found a friend that quit that don't want come back and take over there account. Could not imagine starting from scratch.

and why everyone assume 11 going die when 14 comes out? Everquest went on for many years after eq2. In fact some did not like eq2 because it was 2 different and to complex.

Everquest would like to have a word with you.
It is actually still going pretty strong and as of a survey of April 2008 it was still on the 9th place of most played subscription based MMo games.
The actual totals and places games stand on these days will have changed considerably with more MMO games entering the market and the announcement of new MMO games like FF14 and Aion, but Everquest is not dead yet either.
