MMA

I just wish he had been more active on the ground and not so cocky in his win.

This is where I think he was hearing the footsteps of Frank Mir still. In the Mir fight Brock was flippin and shittin all over him on the ground, bein aggressive, and he got caught. I did see a lot of places where Brock left a Kamura or an Armbar hanging. Maybe it was a combo of caution and a desire to KO someone to make the statement he wanted to make in the Mir fight.

As for his behavior, it was really no worse than Tito Ortiz's antics after just about any win. Gotta keep in mind that Brock is very well versed in mic skills, working crowds and playing roles.

Hmm yea i see where you're coming from, but GSP is just too strong i think... I highly dout like you said BJ would be able to submit him, even with the arm trap i think piere would force out of it.

I don't know if bj could take gsp standing either... it'd be a hell of a fight, i'd really like to see it.

Personally I think GSP is prolly the best pound-for-pound fighter in MMA today. The fight would really depend on which BJ Penn showed up. If it was the Matt Hughes BJ, I give it to GSP in the first, but if it's the recent BJ....fuck...I dunno. BJ's Ju-ju is off the charts. He could prolly tap just about anyone (Except my Brock \('-')/) and it's easy to forget that Penn has very heavy hands.

Both are riding High atm though. GSP coming off a title win and defense, and BJ coming off dominating performances over Pulver and Sherk. This fight needs to happen right now dammit!

I really dout BJ could tap GSP

I'm not really expecting Brock to be able to pull off submissions just yet, but he had Herring mounted twice. Granted the mount usually ended up making Herring give up his back. I would have liked to see Brock either pound him out from the mount or at least get some hooks in and pound him out from the back since he had it so much. I think if Brock had a really solid mount, he would have just brutalized him. Its usually a task just getting out of being mounted as it is. Having a 280 lb giant on top of you probably would be even harder.

As for the antics, that is the first thing I thought about when he started it. That he was coming from WWE. I didn't like Ortiz's disrespectful shirts either. I just tend to like the more humble guys that will whoop your ass and act like it was just another day at the office. Although Anderson Silva's Muay Thai dances are cool.

I think GSP needs to be more dominant in his wins to be pound for pound the best. Fedor and Anderson Silva usually just run through guys like nobody's business. GSP had Fitch on the ropes a couple of times in that fight and couldn't finish him either by (T)KO or submission. I'm not sure why he didn't even go for any submissions, he is usually pretty good with thim.

If/when the BJ GSP fight happens, I would hope it is more of a superfight deal with 5 rounds or something. It would seem kind of dumb to have BJ get a welterweight shot just because he is lightweight champ.

Miss the ufc of old days before they went main stream (gracie, shamrock) they just seem to commercialized these days. Guess that show biz and that how stay in business, but just not the same.

I know what you mean, it seemed to me like it was going the WWF/WWE way. However, I still believe it's going to keep it's dignity and stay where it is in terms of genuine fighting. Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir I think it was? I was looking forward to that a for ages until the fight came along. It seemed like a publicity stunt, "big ex-WWE star" etc etc, but when the bell rang and Lesnar threw himself at Mir, I could see they made him train like a dog for that chance.

I don't see it becoming a trend, outsiders from other sporting events coming in to "give it a go", like Floyd Mayweather in the WWE, although I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing certain people would enter the Octagon with certain other, larger individuals and seeing who came out on top.

As long as they keep these kind of things to a minimum, and keep the UFC heading in the direction it's supposed to be, there's no complaints from me.

I'll take this oppurtunity to start a mini-poll. Who do people like better? (forgetting outside influences ie. Girlfriends lol)

1) Tito Ortiz
2) Ken Shamrock

I hate Shamrock, so the decision of who to like was an easy one for me. What about everyone else?

I know the reason GSP didn't go for his usual submission finishes with Fitch is because he bounced back with all the beatings he was receiving. I would be confident to bet money on Fitch having been knocked out a couple times that fight. I'm sure at least twice probably 3 times and bouncing right back, the ref wouldn't put a stop to the fight knowing what kind of fighter Fitch is. GSP did more damage to him than I've ever seen him deliver, GSP has never been in a fight quite like the one against Fitch. He was well aware the opponant he was going against hense his flying out of the country for a good 1 or so months to specifically train for it, not that other fighters haven't.

BEST FIGHT MATCH UP... Anderson Silva and GSP. That would be one sick fucking war. Shit it could be a 30 second dance too who knows.

As far as Brock is concerned.. too many people seem to forget what kind of sports background he has.. he's not just a wrestler... the man has done well with every sporting endevour he's tackled. Some people are just well rounded, and the more fights he gets in and the more training he gets under his belt the better he will do. Personally though, that first round pop was FUCKING BEAUTIFUl, I never laughed so hard at the tumbleweed the cowboy did!! Brock couldn't keep full mount.. because he lacks the techniques.. oh well he still dominateed the entire 3 rounds, tossed him around like a ragdoll, and it wasn't all that boring to watch like some. Not to mention his cocky "hogtie" dance at the end, I have a feeling the gentle giant was disrespected one to many times. Not only by Dana White which must sting but surely by others.

the way gsp has been fighting i dont see penn takin him out. once brock learns and has more experience he will be almost unstoppable. hes a beast. i dont care for tito or ken. tito is just a prick and ken is washed up now. but i have to give the nod to tito cuz hes a more entertaining fighter.

The secret to GSP's success?

Lesnar is truly frightening. He just so completely overwhelmed Herring, it looked easy. Once he gets a little more technique, I can't really see anyone taking him on. Regardless of skill, he is simply too strong and has a decent amount of speed to back it up.

he has incredible speed for someone his size.

LMAO I KNEW I saw him do that!!!! When I was out watching it.. I even thought to ask everyone with me if he had just tweaked his damn nipples but talked myself into it not being the case at all lol.

GSP is one sexy mofo so he can tweak whos ever nipples he wants in my books ;)

rofl, nice spot there. Can't say I noticed him doing that, but if it works...it works >.>

As powerful as brock is i still thing the reason he left pro-wrestling is cause he lacks the CHR, pun intended, to make that type of career work. that being said i agree with Sano. he is a very overwhelming opponent. But as far a being unstoppable, i think his cockiness and attitude will be what causes his next loss. By UFC standards he's still a rookie. and he's not the only powerhouse that have come through there. I'm watching to see his sportsmanship when he does lose his next match.

I think Kimbo Slice would rape brock, no dout i think lol

kimbo is a joke. if brock got him down, which he would, he would pound kimbo out.

kimbo is far from a joke >_>, his ground game is ever improving... youtube him for yourself. Brock is a wave of momentum (sp?) i think, Kimbo has proved himself every single fight.

how has he proved himself? when he fought thompson they give him the win. thompson was far from being done in that fight but elite had to save their meal ticket from losing. you put kimbo up against a good heavyweight and he will lose. he was cooked pretty much after the first round in his fight with thompson. he could barely make it too the corner. kimbo is one a trick pony. ive seen lots of his youtube fights and i was not impressed with him at all.

like brock has proved himself either, he had a free ticket into the UFC pretty much lol. If they ever fight it'll be good, you're entitled to your opinion. kimbo will win i think

i wont argue that brock is a joke. hes a total joke imo. the only difference between kimbo and brock is that they are in different organizations. it would be a great fight as you said. i just dont think kimbo could stop brock from takin him down and holding him there.

Brock can fight. amature wrestlers are very dangerous people to fight against. all those holds and take-downs they practice in college are not to be taken lightly, that combined with brock's sheer size are the things that make him to overpowering. Pit brock against a seasoned martial artist equal to his size and then you'll have a real fight. I just see that he's riding his size and am surprised that hasn't been used against him yet.

i don't follow UFC i just watch it when we show it at my sports bar. IS there a fighter in the UFC equal to or bigger then him?
