Things a moderator shouldn't be able to do but I'm pretty sure they can:
-Read PMs.
-Read posts on any private forum.
-Use status/coding to exploit something (like rep).
-Break the rules they create for a forum without repercussion.
Being able to rate posts or "follow someone around and mark their posts that are violations" are things anyone can do and I don't see why a mod should be an exception.
some of you are missing my point, or ignoring it.
2) People are apparently beginning to think that Jyakotsu is an actual mod.
Two problems in this thread:
1) People like Jyakotsu apparently can't be ignored. At all. This is an incredibly large oversight, one that's needed fixed for awhile (Hellstorm too...)
2) People are apparently beginning to think that Jyakotsu is an actual mod.
I'm honestly not sure which of these is worse, really.
No, not by QCDN, certainly. It's a vBulletin issue. I think this was discussed before as being hard-coded into vBulletin, but I'm not entirely sure, so don't go quoting me on that.Agreed, Miros or even Reeve, will have to be the one to look at this.
Whether it is by an elevated permission filter, which could be changed, or coded into vBulletin, which would have to be hacked, group leaders are considered private moderators. I am not sure if you can call this an 'oversight' by QCDN though. It is just how vBulletin handles the user groups and their leaders.

Arctyreal said:We are looking at it Jya. As has been stated 2x -- it is not as simple as just making 'different' moderators.
The makers of vBulletin consider what we call 'linkshell' moderators the same as regular 'forum' mods. The system is doing the right thing.
I am unfamiliar with vBulletin, but the only way I can see getting around this is to create a group with moderator-like privileges that do not have the moderator status. Then moving all linkshell mods into that group for their respective forum. This way they are not called moderators by the system and thus can be ignored everywhere (even if you are in their linkshell forum).
Sure, it'd give people the ability to ignore global mods/admins, but if someone seriously wanted to block them, they probably wouldn't be here for long anyway.Cmdrfly said:I looked into this myself and I see what Reeve is saying. Under the Ignore system, there is one related option: "Allow users to ignore moderators".
We cannot differentiate private forum mods from administrative mods. Perhaps in a future revision of the Ignore system, or via some hack therein.
Alternatively, they could just enable "Allow users to ignore moderators." If someone wants to ignore a real admin, they'd do so at their own peril. When shits like you and Hellstorm have an unblockable status for no good reason...Rappa said it best in reference to the blocking thread in support and feedback section. Post #22

It seems that harassing people via rate down has become the new hobby now, rate up's or downs should be a simple dot green or red with no option to attach a pissy comment alongside with them. I imagine that unsettling remarks delivered this way as opposed to a actual PM are somehow not considered subject to any forum rules and much like the flameboard free to go unchecked.I posted on here a while back at my total distaste of Arctyrael's attitude on these forums. Long story short, and to the point, I don't believe moderators should be allowed to post on these forums if they are going to also have rate up and rate down abilities. Due to my comment for my disapproval of Arctyrael another moderator / admin, jyakotsu, has taken it upon himself to find random threads by me and rate them down for the hell of it and cuss me out in the process. Mods should be unbiased and here to do their jobs, moderate the boards. They stick together like they should, but with powers they should not have. They are given the abilities to say and do and control whatever they want unchecked. They are entitled to their opinions, but to blatantly abuse the the system that empowered them to do their job should not be tolerated. I had hoped by just adding Jyakotsu to my ignore list I would be rid of this guy's harassment. But then I get this message: "Sorry jyakotsu is a moderator/admin and you are not allowed to ignore him or her." Funny the same harassment complaint I sent probably went straight to him and he is having a hell of a laugh.
Screenshots of his comments to follow if necessary but come on dude. If your going to have responsible quit tripping over your dick and do your damned job right, or relinquish your title. Half expecting to get PM spam from him now, and of course there won't be shit to do about it because the mods are only going to stick together.
