Hello,

Every time I level, I check AH for something better than garrison hose, but I can't find anything compelling. What should I be wearing as monk 68?

Help would be appreciated; thanks!
 
cubwoo parsed out his pans, I think he went with the federation kayan (lvl 25, not sure if thats the right name) till he got his shura pants.

Garrison hose or republican subligar are the ONLY worthwhile options that a monk should ever wear until AF2, shura, byakko, or the new assault piece. The only exception is when they have pulled hate they can toss on temple Hose or akido koshita, but should take them right the fuck off as soon as they don't have hate.

If you're not bashful, or if you like cool breezes nipping the upper reaches of your thighs then this should please you. Republic Subligar is the best leg MNK leg item you can get until.... oh... around 70+ish (AF2). lvl 25, +5 atk and 1 vit and some other stat I can't remember.

Republic Subligar +5 attack +1VIT level 25

But since you are a tarutaru, your RSE is different from the choice Cubs had. Your RSE gives +1STR +2VIT which are both common modifiers for MNK WS so you might try those as well. It really depends what you are going for though. Some MNK go for up to date gear with decent stats (Master Sitbaki) and others go for the best +STR/att without ever getting a new piece until something else with more STR/att comes along. Personally, it'd be a toss up between the RSE and subligar for me. I always go for STR/att on a melee job so long as I am not tanking which given that you are a monk, you really shouldn't be and if you do, you can always do a macros switch for +def gear.

Master's sitabaki sucks for monk. The only reason to have them is to macro in for chakra; republican subligar are THE best legs for monk until 70+.
 
There are 7 possible leg armors for MNK, ranked in order here.

1. Byakko's Haidate.
2. Melee/Bahamut's Hose with Dune Boots
2. Shura Haidate
3. Melee/Bahamut's Hose without Dune Boots
4. Pln. Seraweels
5. Republic Subligar
6. Any pants with +STR

Please note that neither Rasetsu Hakama or Master's Sitabakai +1 are on this list.

Errr, I saw the avatar and just thought he was a taru. Didn't even realize it was a fomor until I looked just now.
 
5 attack isn't exactly huge. Do your tank and healer a favor and instead wear crow/raven legs for TP gain, then macro in something else for WS.

Monk isn't exactly a hate stealing powerhouse until 75. Unless your tank is really awful. I'd actually recommend the opposite. macro crow/raven for WS, since thats where most of the hate comes from.

But ya, MNKs really only stole hate when I was on NIN, and usually I'd let them tank the last couple hits so my timers could reset for the next mob which was on its way. On PLD only RNGs gave me much problems.
 
my nin tank does a great job of keepin hate. i just wear my af pants. cuz i like too match ;)

So harsh, Meeze. Anyway, the reason I say that, is really, Monk is pretty crappy damage compared to whatever else is around until the hand to hand delay is lowered enough, otherwise the job is similiar damage to Dark Knight(oooooooooooh burn!.)

But really, Party BST is better damage than MNK until the later levels.
 
only real trouble I had was with this one galka mother fucker in garlaige citadel, it was mostly against T-VT though.
 
the few times i have stole hate my wife got pissed cuz shes the whm in the static. lol she calls me a mp sponge. and galkas rock :)
