Musssssiiiiiiiiiiccccccc.... being ruined by the radio

When I was a dj I never took requests, but it was a mainstream country station and I didn't give a shit.

It's sortof the lesser of two evils for them to be repetitive with good/catchy songs, really.I mean they could be playing total crap repetitively instead. Ever hear that Rap song about chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side?

I've only found one really good radio station in my life, and that's 106.7 airing out of Denver, CO. They have a huge library, I've been listening to em like 5 years almost and I still hear new songs that I've never heard before with them. They do repeat some of the newest songs, but that's to get em heard, and they don't over do it.

Buy satellite radio. It will open you up to tons of new music, and you don't have to deal with all the bullshit.

This message was brought to you courteousy of Sirius Satellite radio, Inc.

When I used to work in a warehouse we had a stereo in there that was usually set to rock or classic rock stations. By the end of my first month working there I would start to get so pissed off at their playlists because they would play the same songs over again like every two hours. One station would play the same stupid Metallica songs at least every hour. I like Metallica, but they have better songs than the shit they would play over and over and over...

8-12 hour work days of songs I am tired of hearing really starts to get to me lol

Commercials on the radio piss me off too (same with TV) but I guess thats what you get when you aren't paying for the service.

uggghhhh I remember them days. I worked at that warehouse too. I couldn't stand that radio. And whats worse is when they play something you don't even like in the first place, over and over and over again. Sublime and Beasties boys I can't stand(no offense to you sublime, beastie boy fans) but man thats all they knew how play. Bad enough they play one song over again but when they play like 3 or so songs by them, each being multiple times a day, untop of not liking them, just drives me insane. Then you got songs you like that after awhile you get sick of. I would start deleting songs I had downloaded cause I just didn't want to listen to it anymore. Its funny cause they say that these songs they play so many stinkin times are supposivly the most requested songs. I don't understand how people can just keep calling in the same crap. I often wonder if people really are calling in those songs or if their just saying that to keep heat off of the DJs. Country stations here are just as bad. Girl that was hired at my new job played the country station and within two weeks I couldn't take it anymore. I started wearing headphones and began looking into internet radio(figures now my job banned that as well). I don't understand how the guy that played the rock songs at the warehouse and the girl at my new job could stand to listen to the same old stuff day in and day out multiple times. I'm just thankful now that where I'm at in this job I have, I don't have to deal with radios anymore. I just burn mp3s on CDs and just go to town.

Well it's good to know I'm not alone.

Repetition sucks and all, but really I don't mind most of the songs. I mean, they start to annoy the hell out of me but I can usually just ignore them, but god if I hear Avril Lavigne do that stupid "hey you i wanna be your girlfriend" stupid ass song on the radio again....

The worst part is she's got TWO famous songs at the moment on this station.

She just annoys the shit out of me.

Not when I listen to the radio, but when I buy a cd and I like it, I usually listen to it over and over again several times, for several days. I might listen to other stuff inbetween, usually I do. But for the first week, or two if I really like it, I'll listen to it alot of times.

You rack disciprine.

Hehe, I used to do that too.

Yeah, it's pretty much the same everywhere. Here at least we have "the Edge 103.9 independent radio" which does a great job as far as playing new music, old music, odd music, and OTHER songs on the albums other than the singles :) we also get mandatory marley and ska punk at night <3 my radio station, but even they over do certain songs. I definitely believe it's because of the requests they get in. Seems to me that most requests made are by people who just turned on the radio for their drive home or to where ever they're going and want to hear that latest new song... so that's why people who listen for more than 2hours tend to get sick of the repetition.

I for one have had many songs ruined for my by company radio stations working in retail >< also, i'll admit likeing that one band... lol, i know the album was Human Clay and one of the singles was Take me higher... anyways, they had too many hits at once and all the stations just crammed them in and shoved them in your face and now i cringe and am forced to immediately change the station... even after years of not hearing those songs... lol

hopefully that's not too wall-of-texty for you ^.^;

Creed is who what did "take me higher." But yeah I know what you mean by not listening to a certain even years later. Theres a few songs in mind, one being by the way by red hot chili peppers, that I still can't listen too even though its been about 3-4 years since they wore it out on the radio.

internet radio is good however. Live365 and Pandora are my two favorites. So many styles, hardly any repeats. You have some control over what you want to hear.

Yea that song does get on my nevers but Pakomen do u want to by my g/f lol but yea alot of radio stations here plays the same shit it just gets odd and makes u not want to listen to the radio. I mean we have like 3 alternative radio station which play usually different stuff on them but sometimes it just gets old so i just usually listen to a cd that a friend of mine burns for me.

When I was a dj I never took requests, but it was a mainstream country station and I didn't give a shit.

Who listens to country music anyways lol but also when i was a guess DJ for a radio station they listened to another radio to see what they where playing so i guess they wouldn't play the same thing lol

Seems like the DJs from my area like these repeated tracks. Sometimes when a song comes on for like the 2nd or 3rd time that day they'll be like "I love this song" or "This is a great song, great performance by these guys". Doubt its true but it just seems like they're playing what they want to hear rather than taking requests. Its like they're the ones requesting it to themselves when they announce that this song was requested lol. Just a wild guess though.

Ever hear that Rap song about chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side?

CHicken noodle soup! Chicken noodle soup!! Chicken Noodle soup!! WITH A SODA ON THE SIDE I HATE THAT SONG LOL

Anywhoo I hardly listen to the radio. The only places I do is on the bus..sometimes in 1 class if our teacher lets us..or if I drive anywhere (though i usually try to get some cds to listen to and sing in the car lol)

Theres that song by Chris Daughtery..like the only song hes known for, I seriously NO JOKE heard that song once or twice everyfuckingdamndayofthemonth -_- I hated it so much. Overplayed songs SUCK

And has anyone heard that rap song, "this is why im hot?" I want to do what Pakoman wants to do to Avril xD punch him the face.

I should get that iPod thingy for the car..but I don't know what to use. Anyone who uses the iPod car thing, what is it??

Chicago area use to have some damn good stations. Now there's just the Loop which use to be the best station for rock music and now it's the only one that isn't classic. The station has gone down hill. The only good thing is sports radio, well The Score really. Pasquale can back me up here as well I am sure of how bad are stations are.

There was this one station called Will Rock (named after Will County) and well it just rocked. Pretty much uncensored except for fuck and shit really. They didn't give a fuck now it is another oldies station.

Its not so bad with rock and oldie stations, but with pop/hiphop stations it is abismal. I swear they have 11 songs they play an hour, that just repeat in a different order every hour.

I love radio because it introduces me to new music, but sometimes it gets on my nerves how little they play.

What stations are you listening to? Q101 use to be good.. I don't even know if they have Mancow in the Morning anymore.
