Here is what it is at the very small core. When IW fixed the Javy and CP glitch, they somehow managed to break the games ability to distinguish private from public match. Then someone with more time on their hands than anyone could imagine figured out how to exploit this.
Here is how you do it:
Two dudes make a private match. Dude1 is the host and Dude2 is his buddy. They enter the private match and both join different teams. After the game begins Dude1 leaves his match (you have to find someone in-game and "Join Session in Progress", don't "End Game") and Dude2 is now the host. Dude2 now ends the match via the "End Game" option. When Dude2 hits the lobby he is now in control of the private match. He can either set it to allow people to join or be invite only. Idiots leaving it to allow people not join are the ones ruining the matchmaking for others, not the people who close their sessions to outsiders. At this point you can't change anything other than basic settings like to allow or not allow joining, etc. You can't change the map, gametype, etc. So if you wanna try this, you need to make your initial private match set to what you want the glitched one to be. Now all you need is people, a minimum of 6 is what it takes to begin, any fewer and it will not work. After you get your 6 people in Dude2 can start the game, but it is an unusual method of starting, far from the norm. You don't just go to "Start Game" you have to change your clan tag. After you change your clan tag you'll hear a weird noise when you press up and down and at that point you just hit "A" and the game begins.
As I said, if the person in control leaves the game open it gets thrown into public matchmaking. Also, the difference in player numbers isn't based off this glitch. That is simply the host of the game making it a Groundwar game instead of a standard game.
Since the entire 3rd person playlist is messed up with this, like the FPS Domination, some buddies and I did this the first night in order to keep our aim sharp. We did a never ending domination on Sub Base and made it Handguns only and 3rd person. We locked it though and did a private 6v6. I was Dude2 so I know this method works.
When we left the match, I think we played for about an hour and a half or two hours and about an hour in we got sick of killing and just started to trade cap B. I left with over 90k exp in score not including challenges. Trading caps on a flag eventually degrades to something like 30 points but you always get an additional +150 (though it wont pop up on your screen, but on the scoreboard it will show) for taking part in a flag cap. That is probably why so many people choose to use domination.
Ice, I agree with you on a never ending TDM. However, we wanted to try that and it wont work. TDM doesn't have an unlimited time AND score option like Domination.
This shit should have been fixed already. I thought this was a AAA title, silly me.
