MW2

I saw it last night on the dashboard. Looked like.. well modern warfare lol.

Yea I can see the whole Action Movie angle, but all in all being it's supposed to be Modern Warfare, it was pretty much what I expected to see. I hope they release little 'online' vids soon enough.

I mean its far too early to say this is not going to work. I just am leaning towards a total different feeling MW at the moment.

CoD4 and CoD:WaW had great campaigns.. Obviously CoD4 has one of the best multiplayer experiences also..

I dont think this action packed Michael Bay campaign would effect multiplayer in any negative way but i dont think it will be what i wanted from MW2s campaign. Am i making sense? I have a bad cold right now.

No yea I hear ya =)

The campaign looks like a very modern action/first person shooter.. I wonder though, I really do about the multiplayer. Though I think you're right in saying it probably won't have a huge effect on the multiplayer.

It will be for the better if it means there won't be another waste of a map like Wet Work or Shipment.

I'm waiting for screens of the village MP map in central american town.

Aye, to this day I'll never understand why they added those maps to the TDM, HQ, and Sabotage game types. Same could be said for Showdown. They only belong in the DM type scenarios like Killhouse.

Please check this out... What on earth are they doing.

According to a mysterious survey making the rounds, Activision is considering creating an online service that would bring timed exclusive content, as well as premium extras, to the multiplayer side of the Call of Duty franchise.

The survey -- of which we can’t verify its validity, but certainly felt interesting enough to pass on -- specifically mentions that the supposed service would “enhance the multiplayer experience and provide exclusive access to a group of gameplay enhancements.” This includes early access to expansions and betas, and exclusive access to character skins, enhanced stat tracking, game modes and even “support for competitive play.”

The service may come with a monthly fee attached to it or may come bundled with a copy of Call of Duty for a flat rate. The monthly fee idea is especially interesting: in March, Activision’s Bobby Kotick hinted at the possibility of a Call of Duty MMO.

"...when you think about other properties that we own and control, like Call of Duty, and what would be the natural evolution of a property like Call of Duty into a massively multiplayer environment, and how do you monetize that," Kotick stated at the Morgan Stanley Technical Conference three billion Internet years ago.

Well, this theoretical online shell -- not quite an MMO -- is certainly one way Activision could suck more rabid fan coin.

I just don't see how that would work.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

and I'm done =)

Modern Warfare is no longer a part of the Call of Duty franchise. IW has stated that their games will not be takin' part in this "service". Here's the link: http://kotaku.com/5295098/relax-modern-warfare-2-wont-have-multiplayer-fee

Unfortunately I can't visit that site from work, but I sure hope you're right Strid because this whole MMO thing just sounds like a huge pain in the ass more than a blessing.

Plus, I was trying to think with the whole 'Service Grades' (if you will) how you could party with friends if they choose to not partake in the extras. Kinda like not having the Map Packs dl'd on CoD4. If you join a friends game you're booted if you haven't dl'd them (they SHOULD be free now) unless you join in a party pre-established.

Honestly, I am still happy with COD4. I didn't get World at War, and before I get World at War 2, I have to consider features that COD4 didn't to make it worth my money. Like splitscreen online, 4 player co-op... well that's good enough really.

So, maybe worth mentionin', or maybe not... IW slapped the CoD label back on MW2. My guess is marketin', though I doubt they really needed it. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Sure they needed the name. My GF just asked me yesterday while we were in Best Buy.. "Wtf is MW2?".

She doesn't play I'm assuming.

CoD tag would only apply to those who aren't really familiar with them to begin with. So I suppose it's to draw in more fans, gain more customers.. but really it's not necessary ;p

Although this will stop me from having to correct everyone all the time >.>

You know I pick at everyone about everything

Exactly cheebs... She does not play CoD4 but she knows what the name is. She hears about all the "in" games more then the average gamer due to me and yet she still does not know what MW2 is. My friends dont know what MW2 is... Thats because they are still calling it CoD: MW2. I think the name is very important to their sales.

They would have sold the game all the same with or without the CoD brand. Now, you can enjoy the wonder of if the Activision "MMO plan" will affect it. I'm sure IW lost some balls if it's back in the CoD pack so who knows what else will change in what they've said.

I dont think thats true at all. MW2 could have been expected to sell about what CoD4 did just off people making the jump to the next game. Keeping CoD in the name gives a chance for more recognition.. More sales. I dont even know why we are discussing it though... Its obvious due to the fact IW agrees and is reapplying the CoD name.

We're discussin' it because you feel the need to tell me my opinion is wrong though be it just as much a fact, which neither are, as yours instead of acceptin' it as an opinion that just happens to differ from your own. IW deciding to put the CoD tag back on doesn't negate question for whether or not it needs it, because now we'll never know. I agree with you though, it's better to not rock the boat unless it's not tippin' in your favor, but it's not interestin' now at all for those of us with nothin' to gain or loose of it.
