So yes this is MY story not some random made up post that everyone throws around.

Today was shopping day in my home. Its pretty traditional that my daughter, Lexi and I always do lunch and run errands ending the day with a trip to the grocery store. Today started normally and was going quite well when I decided to treat Lexi to Pizza Hut instead of our normal Subway lunch. I mean why not? We dont eat pizza very often and shes been doing great in school.

Yeah BIG mistake. First off it takes us about 20 mins to get the breadsticks alone. In the time it takes us to eat a half of a breadstick the pizza's are being delivered (2 personal pan's). Ok no big deal right? That kind of thing happens all the time anyway. So we start eating our pizza's and I notice mine tastes a little bit off, kind of dirty tasting. So I happen to look down at my plate and suprise suprise there are what looks to be old gross pieces of mushrooms and this big black pod thing, maybe an olive I dont know.

Needless to say I am thoroughly disgusted at this point. My stomach starts to churn at the mere thought of eating of a used, not washed, plate. SO I figure Ill complain to the waitress right? Yeah I sit watching her walk around from table to table. Two tables are seated, served drinks, orders taken, and food arrived. Now Im fuming. I put on my coat and have my daughter put hers on thinking maybe this will get the idiots attention. Nope! She ignores us for about another 15 mins before I get up and say this is rediculous. So I go to the cashier and demand a manager. Her first solution... Heres YOUR pizza free. This only infuriates me more! My response is "Do you have any idea what could be living on that plate?? AND your putting my health and my 10 year old daughters health at risk, and you offer me a $3 pizza free????" Yes, my voice is getting higher and I am getting more and more angry. She must have seen the fury in me because she decided to give me my entire meal free.

Now keep in mind, Ive worked for pizza places before and I know that the cutter can leave some pieces of other toppings behind. Typically this happens ON the pizza and not stuck to the plate! Second of all, The service was shit. I understand sometimes a server gets busy, but thats no damn excuse to ignore someone for 30mins.

Anyway, now I need to know what to do. Who do I call etc. Any advice???

Yuck >< Ya don't you love the "Oh, you didn't like your food? That's ok! Here's more for free!!!"

As far as who to call? 1-800-948-8488 Customer service.

Yes it was sick, and dont get me wrong here. Im the person that gets the crappy service and the not so great food and I dont normally complain. I know how it is to work for shit money just to get by. But damn, this just pushed the limit waaaayyy to far

I feel for ya..we have some like restraunt curse or something..cause everytime we go out to eat we get HORRIBLE service.

1 Restraunt we waited like 2 hours just to get our order taken, and then 4 hours just to get my sushi (not my meal) and another 6 hours just for my food (over exajerated sp? but it was insanly long)

oh and when we got our food..it was cold.

This happened to us in like 2 other restraunts..1 though that the food wasnt cold when we got it..but took forrreever, pissed too cause everyone else was getting served but us.

If you have a problem with your food, bring it to their attention. She's busy seating other customers, and getting them their food while you already have yours. Yes, it's common curtosy to check on your after you've gotten your food, but thats all it is. Was the restaurant busy?

So getting your pizza free is disgusting, but getting your drink and breadsticks as well makes it all right? You're still getting the pizza free. Sorry I don't see the connection there.

I don't know who you'd want to call over someone working a part time job but if you feel the need to possibly get them fired, or in even deeper water than you already did that day, then go ahead.

Sounds to me like you need to learn resterant body language.

When you want your server, the proper thing to do is crain your neck up as though you were trying to look over everyones head, and lean left or right and blankly look around. This is the "I need my server" look. If it fails, bitch/asshole only gets 15%.

No waiter/waitress would want this public knowledge, but knowledge is power, and in some extrodinarily bad cases, you need to flex yours.

If you pay with a credit card, the amount you write in is all they can charge you for legally. I've given a server a -$10.00 tip once, because he was being such a deuchebag I felt he really owed me a couple free beers for putting up with him. I checked my statement and what I had written down was what I was charged.

This is only recommended if you are never going back, but if the service warrented it in the first place, you know you wont be. This tip was given to me by an ex-waitress.

I'm in your shoes Geneviene, normally if the service is better than down right crap I'll keep my mouth shut. Here is one instance where I couldn't sit by and let it go though...

My friends and I headed to Savannah GA to the beach one Friday after work, and got a few hotel rooms for the weekend when we got there. On Saturday when we got back in from the beach, I find two dudes in my room unpacking their shit and drinking my sunday beer from my cooler! I was so pissed I saw red, I thought they might have been trying to rob me or something. Well, one dude saw me and immediatly fished in his pocket for the card key the front desk gave him. They both apologized and thought someone had left (who leaves beer behind?) all their stuff in the room when they checked out. So I went down to the front desk and asked the chick what was up, and she just waved her hands at me and said "mistakes happen" and she tried to give me another room key. I raised hell, and ended up getting asked to leave. To this day I'll never stay at another Holiday Inn Express, they can kiss my ass. At least I got refunded my money though.

That really is a simple mistake. I work in a hotel, and that happens sometimes. The deal is this: Someone checks in goes to thier room and finds something wrong with it. They request to move so you put them in a new room and forget to change it in the computer for whatever reason. Next time someone checks in a room of the same type, the system will auto assign the next room in line. Unfortunatly, you had idiots who decided they had won some free stuff check in and go to your room.

The fault belonged to whoever checked you in and the guys that were in your room, not the girl that checked them in. Unless it was the same person.

Yeah, so I wanted pizza last night, and the only place in my small town is.. Pizza Hut.

I called them up, and they told me to go pick up my order (medium pizza and an order of hot wings) in 40 minutes.. well, that's a long time, but I figure at least I'm waiting in the comfort of my home, right? I go down there in 50 minutes, and then wait 10 more in line. That's an hour. Then they tell me they lost my order ;D I know the little asshole who did it too, he goes to my school.

Anyway, they tell me to come back in 20 minutes and they apologize. At this point I figure I might get my meal free. I mean, I should. Having wasted an hour, I could have made any number of other arrangements. Anyway I run to the store, come back in 20 minutes, wait another 10 in line, and they haven't started it yet. So I wait another 30 minutes in the restaurant. Isn't that sweet? And they still make me pay. Funny thing is there was a woman standing in front of me, talking to someone else, and I overherad her say she came to dine in and waited an hour for her meal, then she went up and got it free.

Now, she came to dine in. I called in expressly becuase I didn't want to waste time in the restaurant. As though the almost hour wait they gave me wasn't bad, THEY lost my order. Then they failed the second wait time they gave me, by over double. So ultimately I waited about 2 hours, one at home, one at the restaurant (when I ordered ahead) for my very not-free, and overpriced pizza. And the wings I got had barbecue sauce on them (?) which they have never had before. I didn't feel like dealing driving back there and wasting more time demanding those replaced though.

Wow I think you misread the post. The time was not that big a deal, the fact that my food was served on a used/unclean plate is the problem. And yeah she was busy? With 3 tables????? WOw I was server all through high school and Ive been a hell of alot busier then that and NEVER let my people wait that long.

Nope, I read it clearly. My emphasis wasn't on how much time she took either. Try reading mine again. My personal reaction is you overreacted to the whole thing. Trying to get a waitress fired that works at a Pizza Hut by calling a hotline seems like you're going too far.

Woa Im going to far for having my food served to me on a dirty plate??? Oh and going to far for putting my 10 year old daughter and my health at risk? Somehow I fail to see how thats going to far. And no I could care less if she is fired but the health board needs to do an inspection. Yeah Ill tell you what, you come to my house and Ill make you dinner and serve it to you on a used plate thats not been washed. Ill go ahead and make sure I have something akin to the stomach flu while Im at it. Then you tell me if Im going to far.

Idk, black olives and mushrooms aren't always the most attractive looking commodity especially when cooked. As for the pizza being off tasting, maybe there was more of a problem with that, but then again maybe something wasn't mixed correctly or whathave you (idk what they do to make pizza sauce or the crust or whatever you had on it). Legit complaint but it might not be as much of a health risk as it just was unappetizing. Someone who doesn't like mushrooms or olives might be grossly sickened by having them on their plate or even near their pizza. Maybe when cooking it another separate pizza who had mushrooms and black olives was nearby or moved over top of your plate and a piece or two accidently fell onto your plate. Things like that happen I guess.

Just trying to look at it from another perspective lol. Did you ask to speak to the manager?

You didn't ask for the manager? You always complain especially when everything is on the computer now. You get the manager complain your food is cooked up first given hot and more than likely free. People shouldn't take bad service at all.

Gene you didn't over-react one bit. If I have learned anything from my parents and older brothers if it isn't on clean food, took to long and food is cold, or just doesn't taste right complain because there could be something seriously wrong with the food and service should always be up to par on a non-busy time. Although I would aim at the dish washer in back for the unclean plate. Then talk to the manager about poor service.

I am glad I live near Chicago we have so many pizza chains because face it Chicago pizza> all but original from Italy. Although alot around me have gone down hill, but were quickly replaced with better places for pizza. If you are ever near Chicago check out (I will post the places closet to me) Fox's Pizza (Orland Park and one other location I can't remember) Palermo's (Orland Park and maybe a few other locations) Barraco's (Orland Park has the only sit down that I know all others are delivery/carry out I believe) Girodano's (Everywhere pretty much) and Vita Bella (I only know of one and that is in Joliet/Plainfield). The places that are most known like Lou Almatties aren't that good compared to the stuff I listed. Trust me you will only think of going to Pizza Hut once in a blue moon. I wish it wasn't just Barraco's, Girodano's and like three other places here in the Joliet/Plainfield area.

Edit: Man I really want pizza now. From Girodano's get the Chicago style stuffed w/ whatever you want on it. Fox's has to be their thin crust it's the best. Barraco's has really good pizza in general it maybe my favorite their stuffed pan thin is really good. Vita Bella is another place that is just over-all good pizza and even good beef sandwiches. Palermo's thin crust I haven't had anything else from them. Also forgot to throw Chesdan's up there they're hit and miss but has decent pizza (Shorewood).

Pizza Hut over Subway? Your right, that was your first mistake. Subway is way better than Pizza Hut, or any pizza for that matter.
If you want your waitress all you gotta do is call her over, raise your hand and gesture for her to come over, shout 'miss' to get her attention, w/e.
A bad experience yes but it sounds to me like you over-reacted just a little bit. Should have just asked for another pizza and if you were bitchin loud enough I'm sure they would have been happy to give you one.
EDIT: Romper, pizza originated in China I believe. And I've had Chicago pizza when I was a kid and we went to pick up my grandma at the airport, and I thought it was subpar at best, it was way too thick. I much prefer my local Black Jack.

Where did you get from? I can't even think of a place near O'Hare or Midway. If you say where it was from then I could agree with. As for subs: Obee's> Mr Submarine> Quizno's> Subway. Obee's so few of them but so damn good.

i personally think you are right for wanting to talk with their customer service or whatever. putting people's health at risk by not doing things right is a big deal. 3 tables, is nothing ive been doing waitresing since i was 16, if she had 8-10 tables i could understand the wait. that still wouldnt make up for the dirty plate and off-tasting food. if i was in your position i'd do the same thing :/

Getting fired is a part of life.

She/they can hop-a-long to McDonalds.
{Edit: The Waitress/Dishwasher - Those At Fault -- Didn't want ya'll thinkin' I meant the OP.}

<3

Being a mommy I can only imagine how pissed you were.

Hell hath no fury like a female defending its young from any perceived threat.
(Heck even the males, like that guy throwing that kid who was supposedly going to break his kids arm in that wrestling match - check it out!)

For those who might see it as overreacting, I see it as taking every available effort to ensure a slip doesn't make her way again. -- Of course it will sooner or later, but hey not every wonderful company in this world can/will implement Six Sigma. <3
(Yes, even Pizza Hut can manage this over time. -- If they have/have begun, shit I didn't know.)

Do those who see this as an overreaction have children under your care? Either through direct charge of your own children, or the occasional outing with your nieces/nephews/et cetera who're more prone to illness than your average adult who's been there done that?
(Rhetorical question, I'm not looking for replies to start a potential flame.)

Overreaction for an average Joe, but instinct to a proud parent and I stand behind the OP in regard to the matter.

Warm Regards to everyone as I'm still making my name stick out here and there.
