First, note the blacked out spots, where the paladin was in my crap that led me to saying he can stay stoned.
No excuess for this EVER!! even if you dont like the tank or you think they are doing a "crappy" job so you say, status effects dont help and need to be taken off IMIDATLY. Otherwise your just showing your poor quality to play whm, embarasing those of us that take it serious.

Okay, he's a 62 pld

And for those who saw my beautiful 597 Cure V, lol, it was either Darksday or I had my dark staff on, I'm consistantly 654.
I don't know about any other whm's at this lvl, but I rarly ever use cure v if ever. Usually its on a link situation where the pld is getting hammard heavy. that just shows you arn't keeping up with your normal whm activities. A pld shouldn't "Main Heal" them selves, if they did why would we need a whm in the party? The first couple cure IV's go to them to establish hate along with a few JA's, after that its your cure 3's and regen 2 that is keeping him/her alive. so you needing to do cure V for 654 shows that you infact wern't doing your job "right"

Hey Jonas "The Great" lol, no offense ment, just a spoof on the title in conjunction with immature. Anyways, I have a name to defend too, and people flaming on people thinking the target of the flame won't be there to defend themselves. As for the screenshot, my comments were not nearly as unprovoked as they looked. There was a lot Elleshar had said and did to get me worked up to that point. And besides, if you posted a flame on you, would you not expect to see some contestation, would you not contest it yourself? I may not have a spectacular name around, but I know it is better than this, at least.

Besides, pointing out the fallacies and seeing what kind of defense can be mustered up when the bluff is called. Obviously there was not much to be said here.

damn, when i saw the first page didn't have a hit from akisu over 39 i figured he was a thf lol.

*edit* forgot to add that cure V at your lvl isn't mp/hp effect which is why we dont use it so much. the same reason you used cure 2 through the 50's and now you use cure 3's and cure 4's later 60's through 70's

Cure V is the "danger alert" spell unless your keeping a kitting pld alive that is taking massive damage, even then there is usually more then whm there helping with that.

Cure V

When the paladin doesn't use Cure 3 and 4 to establish that hate and lighter armored characters starts taking hits, their hp falls rapidly, and keeping up with spells becomes a trial, thus cure 5 becomes a solution. Also, there is the fact of Cure 5 drawing little aggro, which is very important when your tank is not healing... otherwise more than a monk is likely to die. I personally like to conserve on the mp and keep it as high as possible. I even use flash to change 25 mp into hopefully 2 less hits on the tank.

Once again, applying the rules of normality when they don't apply. When a paladin doesn't tank and a monk or lightly geared warrior with defense minus are the target of Cockatrice attacks, cure 3 does not suffice.

Ayrie said:
And let us not recall when the monk died after landing 400 damage with Howling Fist and the paladin couldn't get hate back... so the monk got Hammer Beaked for 900. Wow, totally the white mage's fault there.

Never said that was your fault. Don't change the argument.

Ayrie said:
Okay, he's a 62 pld, wtf... he cannot cast a healing spell on himself?

Lets see you try against a raptor with it's nasty fast attack complete with double attack. And just a tiny bit of random fact here, he was. Thats why I was pulling slower then I could, to let him build MP back. Try again.

Ayrie said:
I do know that you have little room to talk about my performance in a pt where I had to do ALL the healing on top of status removal and resistance buffing.

So that rdm/whm was just sitting around huh? Sure... thats why you were right ontop of that barfira which you chewed us out for asking for after the fact we almost got killed by the gob bomb, and then couldn't keep the melees... in a SC dependant party... hasted for TP build?

100? I admit I dont have the best gear I could get at this lvl... but try more along the lines of 300-500. Any attack does less when you killshot a mob with 1% hp, just like if im at 99% hp and you cure5 me, its going to do about 50hp heal. Nice try. Anyone who wants to come XP w/ me, youll see my average is 400-500, which isnt the best, nor the worst.

but when people talk crap at me when they cannot hold their own weight I will be the first to vocalize it. And when my complaints aren't addressed and the problem continues to be an issue, I reserve the right to leave at any time. Oh yes, I warped after a fight without notice.........If you wanted me to stay, perhaps next time you'll listen when I tell your tank to perform his BASIC function.

Talk crap about you? No one talked any crap about you until you started on the pld because you might have had to press your cure macro a few times. Your a whm... we just asked you to preform your BASIC funciton. Barfira me *after near death*, haste me *standard in SC dependant pt*, cure me*/watches pld go down to 40 some HP from full without a cure*. So ya, /nod. Thanks.

but considering I raised the point of the paladin and my discontent a hour beforehand removes liability for my action.

Maybe I'll try that next time Im the only whitemage while my God LS is fighting Faust, or any of those other NMs for pop items. Ill whine about being there, then warp out right when they need me, and of course, because I whined, Im not liable for them dieing at all, right? Great logic. Just like your logic about not giving the paladin Stona to un-petrify him, then whine he doesn't voke or flash like that. Let alone after you just told everyone your also FLASHING the mob... /Clap.

And good health is fine and true... until you warp before we start to take the slept link we had. Check my SS, our RDM is shouting in pt about links, which we got more as we were fighting, which we would of been fine with a whm.

OK {Question} to all the HL whm's because i'm not shure on this one. I thought the amount of "Hate" was generated from the amount of HP's cured and the higher the tier spell the more hate generated. now i'm not stating this as fact, but i could deffinatly use a second opinion on this one, because i've never heard this before.

not bad passions, but you neglected the fact the pld couldn't get a cure off at all. in my minimal experience with/as pld i always took made sure the pld got the first cures off with a regen from the whm. when pld doesn't build that initial hate bad things happen, like 400 damage was from the mnk getting him killed.

leveling my nin i could snatch hate from any melee when i pleased. i would allow /nin types to blink a bit while i used some hate spells before my next voke. as a tank i was always in control of the mobs hate. a pld with all the abilities given to them from SE should never lose hate to average damage ws's.

Cure V works like this: It is a cure spell that doesn't have an HP cap, so MND becomes REALLY useful once you get the spell. It has a fixed hate cost. If you cure 1 HP with it, you'll generate the same hate as if you cured 1000 HP with it. I'm not exactly sure about the second part, it's just what I've heard.

There isn't anything "wrong" with this if used properly. late battle tank has a good hate build up he's used his flash and its wore off the mob, whm can then cast it to save a few extra hits on the pld and feel safe that the tank should still have hate. escpically if he/she has just voked the mob.

i was refering to your melee attacks, i didn't notice any of your ws's. your highest melee attack on the first page(i looked over the damage on that page the first time i read this, then only looked at /p on the other pages) it compared more to a thf than a war. wars should be doing 50-90 an axe, i did look at the other pages and noticed a bit better damage from you. but looking at only the first page i came away with the impression you were a thf.

were mostly going off hear/say on that. one says he didn't have mp from curing him/her self the other is saying they never cured at all. but at least we see eye to eye on how the whm and pld need the work together.

if i have issues the party is HALTED till we work it out. no sence risking it, and since 9/10 times i'm the leader Sub Par BS like this wont fly, escpially if i've played the job. i dont have ass any job i play, even if it is through the dunes. i'm the guy eating sole suchi+1 as war for the extra stg and acc (because you dont get acc gear in dunes and you miss far less i've noticed) If scrappy material playing and unacceptable gear is in my party i wouldn't even leave town. i check everyone usually the see what they are wearing. while i have never played pld i have read guides on the job and learned about the hate management to help control myself as whm and blm.

I think you all mostly had a communication error, that needed to be solved w/out pulling another mob and people dying and warping. warping w/out warning isn't excusable.

now you all play fair, i'm off work and am going home to play ninja :p

It's for this reason and many more that people need to be good tanks and learn to hold hate.

To Akisu

Barfira, status removal, curing tanks (that don't cure themselves), and haste... all... on a sole whm? Don't you think that is a bit much? And then to fuss about it when you don't have it all? I could barfira you... but with the pld lurking at about 600 hp, I figure curing him was higher priority cause he didn't bother to do it himself. You know, that one cure 3 or 4 buys me a lot of time. Then yes, I have more time and mp to do those little things like barfira and haste the people that are not demanding my upmost attention.

As for a pld not curing... you get cure 1 and what? 5, 10? Something low... you have 55+ levels to learn how to time a cure, just like a ninja has time to learn to cast utsusemi. And believe me, juggling images and timing with 99% interruption rate is a lot harder than timing a 3 second cure cast.

Oh, and rdm/whm? That's pretty interesting you mention that... isn't rdm some sort of A at enhancing? Wouldn't a rdm/whm provide a better shield than a whm does when it comes to bar-elements? Oh, damn, forgot, I'm a 60 rdm too... what do I know?

Point of the case is: if you tax your whm, bad stuff happens, the whm is not there to be superman and make everything that's bad go away and take the blame when someone falls. Its a team sport, and we only play as well as our worst member (AHEM, Elleshar).

I repeat: Healing Magic is a paladin's BIGGEST ENMITY GENERATING TOOL, there is no excuse AT ALL to not use it. ATTACK speed is nothing.

Get over it.

if you are looking for acc in the dunes i would go with jack o lanterns, +10 acc which will boost your acc way higher than sole ever will with that low of base acc. i still would prefer a kabob as the fights are quick enough without the added acc.

Cure V: Part II

Cure 5 draws hate, but not as much, I think somewhere between Cure II and Cure III, so its effect vs threat is very convenient early fight to not disrupt hate building.

Cures one through to four give you hate on how much HP you cure...
Cure five gives you a fixed amount of hate.

Cure 5 isn't constant hate. It is low (about that of a cure 3), but it does depend on how much is cured. Just the hate from it is much lower per hp than other cure spells (like 4). Cure5 is your most mp efficient cure even when you just get it usually if you fit all of it in. By 70 it really outperforms your other cures in hp cured per mp cost, which causes me to be baffled by whms that continue to spam cure 2 at 75. Proper use of cure 5 allows you to get a tick or two of mp in between curing runs, which improves your performance as a whm, so there isn't anything wrong with using it as long as you aren't getting the tank killed.
