This is my first flame, here anyway, I am really fucked off and tired about peoples ideas of what a "Gimped" SMN is.

To not have Carby Mitts is apparently "gimp", and I have been kicked from PTs over it.

To not have all Elemental staves at lvl50 is apparently "gimp" (can't equip them till 51 and I dint have G1 complete)

To not have Diabolos/Fenrir is apparently "gimp" and once again, I get booted from PTs or turned down because of this.

Key example, I am 51, close to 52, LFP in Jeuno, sitting in my MH having a cuppa coffee and some biscuits, relaxing to some music...

When some idiot, who I have encountered before sends me a /tell, a /sea all revealed he was level 48... that will be a 3 or 4 level gap at most times, and XP that will not be worth my time in the slightest! So I snapped...

Seriously, try getting Mitts/Fenrir/Diabolos when 51 is your highest job.

I know what you're saying, Moriki... but it's Tigran. You dodged a bullet when he passed you over for that party. He's an immature ass and you're better off.

I know. I am jus fed up of rejection from not having those two avatars or mitts...

I laughed when after all that, he was all "I might still have room"

I did not plan on PTing with him either way, jus fed up of this repeated scenario.
 
That is one of the Hardest parts about being a SMN, some of your best summons and pieces of gear are only obtainable at a super high level. Got a freind in your shoes, you can probaly imagine how happy he was when he got high enough to get fenrir invites.
 
maybe try and find a static. they really help cuz you dont have party with little fuckwads like tigran. dont worry bout what others say if they wont let ya party with them just cuz you dont have the mitts or fenny and diablos, then you dont need to party with them.
 
Yeh agreed that not having Diablos/Fenrir is not a big deal. Not having all the staves at 51 is gimp.(though you said 50).

One thing needs to be clear though a 3 lvl gap is perfectly fine. I dont know why people throw fits about a 3 lvl gap. It boils down to like 10ish exp per kill. So after 100 kills you missed out on roughly 1k. Is it as efficient? no, but it will still work.

Im guessing as a 50ish SMN you struggle with finding exp pts, I would assume you would take whatever will net you decent exp.

3lvl gap =/= bad exp.

Side note Tigran is a young kid, annoying and very immature. I wouldnt let anything he says bother me.
 
you get absolutely no use whatsoever from fenrir pre 50

other than dream shroud and maybe nightmare for sleeping I see no use from diabolos, either.
 
Hell most the time the party wants you to main heal anyhow...lmao

I've been fortunate to spend most of my smn leveling time with linkshell mates. But our little static has ended (most of them were leveling subjobs) and I'm now having to get pickups. (I don't have Fenrir or Diabolos yet either).
 
When you hit 52 just go solo in ifrits its good exp and you can do it tell 61.

Just to clarify, Fenrir becomes useful at level 43. Not positive what level Diablos is useful, but I'd say whatever level he gets the Magic attack BP or the Phalanxga BP.

Also, just because you're main healing, doesn't mean all the avatars aren't useful. Especially avatars that can reduce damage taken. For example Fenrir can increase evasion a substantional amount. If you're in a ninja party, the Eva/Acc BP may be the biggest reason to invite a summoner as it simultaneously makes a Ninja far superior at evading and makes all the melee DD able to hit higher level mobs without a bard. Without that, as a party leader you might not desire the SMN so much. It's the game mechanics, you're not useful as you could be in some situations.

It's very easy to lend you a sympathetic shoulder and tell you it's all ok, but to be honest you're not living up to your full potentional. Some people will mind others won't, it's everyone's choice how they prefer to party. I'd say, get all your avatars. If you're too low level, trudge it out and accept that people who took the route of SMN as 2nd job will have a clear advantage over you at ease to get all avatars and are therefore more desirable.

Just remember it's not the party leaders(or me) that designed the game that way.

Instead of Fenrir's eva/acc boost, you could use Hastega. Instead of better accuracy, you just hit attack and instead of evading more, you cast Utsusemi more often. Different methods, same results really. Good for parties with BRD instead of RDM where there is no haste. I don't play SMN nor do I party with them often enough, but that seems like a viable option to me.

You're not gimped but you are a huge asshole for sure.You were casting avatars in mid of fights when i invited you as a main healer... and then if someone dies you blamed it on me.Then you started picking on me that i had a baron's HQ hat n that it has +2 enmity.That hat the highest int till my AF hat... and not even once did i ever get hate from that +2 enmity.And generally i don't think anyone should care if a summoner has fenrir/diabolos or not (Atleast not till expansion)because smns are usually main healers.Yes summon can do OK dmg but then again so can a pld/nin and a rdm/war.Smns atm are best healers till 75 n then they are very awesome DDs cuz of the moves and new blood pacts they have
