Hi, can anyone help me out in my quest for nookie!? I’m having a really hard time getting any! I’ll tell you my story and maybe you’ll appreciate what I’ve been going through!
This has been a long and difficult quest for me, and so far I’ve been completely unable to get any nookie at all! ; ; I’m not even quite sure what it is (I’m only 13, and I’ve only been playing ffxi for a year now, so I don’t know everything about playing the game there is to know… but I still love to play, and want to be the best player I can be)! So, I’ll let you know what I know so far, some of my theories, and what I’ve been able to find out about nookie, and maybe one of you experienced players can help! If you can help me get even a little bit of nookie, I’ll be ever so grateful!
K, the way it started was, I was talking to a friend who’s an older guy and who’s pretty experienced in the game (Nogard, a 75 [Red Mage] on my server, which is Quetzalcoatl), and asked him what he was up to. He said he had Dynamis in an hour (I DO know what Dynamis is!) and that he wanted to get him some nookie before Dynamis. I asked him what nookie was, because of course I’d never heard of it before. He went lol and said it improves all his stats and lets him play longer and better, but that I’d have to ask someone real time about nookie. I asked him if you could buy it, and he said lmao and said I should ask a girl I knew, and she’d set me straight.
Well, I wasn’t sure if I understood him right, but he’s a good guy even if he is really old, so I thought about it and knew exactly who to ask r/l! There’s a girl at the convenience store named Tracy. She’s 16, and she’s really cute, but she also plays ffxi, just on a different server, and we’d talked about the game before. She’s really nice, too! I’m kinda tongue tied trying to talk to her, tho, because she’s so cute.
So anyway I finally went to talk with her, loitered around in the convenience store till there was no one else there, and screwed up my courage and said to her, “A friend told me I might find some good nookie here, how much would it cost?”
I couldn’t believe what happened! She got all wide eyed and then /slap ped me! Hard! I was in shock, and then she demanded to know what kind of game I was playing! So naturally, I told her” ffxi, of course!” and added kinda hopefully … “with the CoP, Zilart and ToAU upgrades too!” I must’ve looked pretty confused too, because she looked me like I was from another planet or something, and she finally said, like, “what???” and I told her my friend Nogard had wanted to get some nookie before he did Dynamis and when I asked him what it was, he suggested I talk to someone like Tracy to see if I could get me some.
I still don’t understand it. She looked at me all wide eyed again and then got the biggest coughing fit I’ve ever seen. It musta lasted 5 minutes or more! And while it was going on she started laughing and every time she looked at me she’d start coughing and laughing again, and she’d start turning beet red…. I still don’t know what’s going on with that, but now everytime I see her, at the convenience store, out in town or even at school, she starts giggling and coughing and blushing and almost can’t talk to me. I really wish I knew what was going on…!
But anyway, after her coughing fit stopped, she finally told me that she wasn’t gonna tell me about nookie, except it was really rare to find good nookie and I’d just have to keep looking. She said for a few years anyhow the only place I’d prolly find nookie would be online, and so I should keep looking in the game. I was kinda relieved she wasn’t mad at me anymore, and told her I’d do that, but if she ever wanted to come over and talk online to my friend Nogard she was welcome to. She started coughing and getting all red again, and said maybe someday she’d do just that! I also told her I hoped nookie wasn’t something you hadda get from RMT, because I had my standards and wouldn’t do that. Man, does that girl cough and turn red a lot! Anyways, she said she didn’t think I’d have to worry too much about buying nookie from gilsellers, so I felt good about that anyways.
So, anyway, I went back to the game and started trying to do a bunch of research. I haven’t found a lot about nookie online, and a search of the words “nookie” and “ffxi” together just doesn’t pull up any matches, so I figure nookie must REALLY be rare/ex or something (do you think maybe nookie drops from Absolute Virtue?). So, I wrote down some theories and started asking around.
First thing I did was to really wonder what is it about nookie that makes it so darn special, anyway? So I did a /shout in Lower Jeuno, and just asked “/sh hey, [help me out!] What stats does nookie come with???” I got all sorts of lol’s and lmao’s, which makes me think I really should know more than I do about nookie, but hey, I haven’t been around the game THAT long…” But I also got a bunch of other good answers that kinda helped. One girl [her name is Isollde] said it really would boost my Magic Attack Bonus. Another girl, Destinnee, said it’d really boost my [Polearm]… but I told her I didn’t wanna level Dragoon anyway so my [Polearm], naturally, was at 0, so what difference would it make, anyway?! She started to /shake her head at me and did a lot of /laugh s, so I figured out I was prolly missing something. Ah well… But she DID agree that it’d boost my Magic Attack Bonus something phenomenal, but the amount of [Boost] you would get really depends on the quality of the nookie you get, so it was ALWAYS a good idea to search for the really good nookie! So, even tho I was discouraged, I decided to press on.
Next, I wondered if I could just buy nookie at the Auction House. I checked the AH, though, and couldn’t find it on any of the menus, so I started asking by doing a /shout in Lower Jeuno, asking if anyone knew if I could find some nookie on the Auction House, and if so, where, please! Man, sometimes people are so unhelpful…but this one girl named Kinkkerbelle started talking to me in /tells, anyway. She seemed really happy, cuz she /laugh ed a lot, but I didn’t get very far.
First, I asked her whether nookie could be synthed, cuz if it could, I wanted to find a high level crafter in the right guild to synth me some nookie, maybe even the HQ “+1” nookie! She coughed and /blush ed and said no, she didn’t think it could be crafted, and even if it could, she didn’t think it’d be as good as naturally found nookie.
So next I said, well if I can’t find it on the ah, will people sell nookie on bazaar like in Battalia? She coughed some more and said maybe on some of those OTHER servers, but she didn’t think anyone’d ever do that on Quetzalcoatl Server, and it wouldn’t be very satisfactory if they did, so I said, “ok, so good, homegrown nookie must REALLY be Rare/Ex, maybe kinda like [Ambrosia]!” And she said, “Damn straight!” So I’m glad I got SOMEthing right, anyway…!
So I said well then nookie must drop from a Notorious Monster, then, and she giggled and said maybe! So I started thinkin out loud, of course, and said ok so then nookie must pop when you find a ??? somewhere and [enter] it. She laffed and said she thought I had it right, so I said, well then where can I find out where to pop nookie??? She said she thought Lower Jeuno, but I said [huh?] cuz I didn't think ANYone who hangs around Jeuno wuz capable of popping a [Notorious Monster], and Kink said I could very well be right about that! But then I realized you might be able to pop nookie without spawning a [Notorious Monster], and she said yah, in some cases. She said she didn’t know for sure but she still thought that Lower Jeuno’d be the best place to start. Man, I started thinking, if I have to go to Twixbrix in the Gobbie Junk Shop for nookie allatime…! Ewwww! But they didn’t have any nookie either… or at least I wasn’t able to pop any there…
So then I said, what do you need to bring along to trade so you can pop nookie? She /laugh ed and said it depended, sometimes it was good food, sometimes a dozen roses, or maybe carnations, or sometimes you had to /dance with it, so I again said [huh?] She looked at me and I said ok, I’ll try a stack of roses if they’re on AH, and I’ll pop some nookie and do the emote that says “Firebrand and the nookie dance happily together,” but I didn’t think it’d work! And anyway, what food did she recommend? She said rotten meat definitely wouldn’t work, but maybe oysters. And I said “Oysters???” and she said yah, they increase VIT, but I said I never saw oysters on ah, did an NPC sell em and she didn’t know… so just in case I bought a stack of Squid Sushi +1, even if it’s more about ACC than VIT. We’ll see.
So anyways, I buy all this dumb stuff (Squid Sushi +1, 1 stack Carnations, 1 stack Roses, and Dancing Slippers) and I go all over Jeuno trying to trade this stuff to the damn ???s so I can finally get some nookie, and nothing happens! I just plain can’t pop any nookie at all! So I went back to another friend (Dominatrix) and told her I just didn’t think I had the right stuff to pop nookie! She laffed and said I might have to wait a few years, and I said game years, right? And she said r/l years, and I said [Huh?] So I said maybe it’s not in Jeuno and maybe I have to shake a Notorious Monster loose to get nookie, and what did she think? She coughed and said maybe so, and I said ok which zone? And she said she didn’t know. Boy this is frustrating!
So anyway I said, gee, please tell me at least what kind of weapon I should equip to get some nookie??? She laffed and said she thought [Polearm] would still be the best, and I said hey, wait a minute, everyone knows a [White Mage] can’t /equip a [Polearm] to save his life! So how bout a [Club] or a [Staff]? Well, Dominatrix said, she thought nookie is probably susceptible most to [penetration], and of course a big [Polearm] that did a lot of penetration-type Damage and maybe had Magic Attack bonus and would prolly work best, but the person using it should have a lot of [Polearm][Skill], and I said, like should their [Polearm] be capped, and she said yah that’s the best, or you might have a bunch of little nookies running around later, and I said “omg! you mean they fission???” Well I couldn’t get an answer out of her for quite a while, she seemed to be coughing and shaking her head and /laugh ing a lot.
So I said why not [Club]? And she said that nookie prolly has good [Evasion] for Club because they don’t like to get bludgeoned, and same thing with [Staff] and I said I have capped [Staff][Skill] and would that help? And she said if I’d capped my [Staff] it prolly would, but nothing is better than a big [Polearm] in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. I was really disappointed.
I also asked whether I thought I should solo nookie, duo it, or use a [Party] or even an [Alliance] to get some nookie, and if there was any trouble did she think /training nookie through or past other parties to a zone would be a good idea? I told her I was concerned that once I left, would the nookie naturally depop, or would the nookie wander back to its spawn point, aggroing other players and causing a bunch more damage? Cuz I’d heard any given nookie can throw a really mean aoe [Disease], but that popping that kind of nookie is kinda like a lottery pop. She just shook her head and started coughing again and said she didn’t have any more answers for me… Durnit!
So anyway, now that you unnerstand, does anyone have any idea at all where I can pop some quality nookie? Or even regular, low priced nookie, I’m that desparate, just as long as I don’t get [Disease]d. And what kinda items work best if you wanna pop nookie? If messin around with a Notorious Monster is part of the deal, I’ll /equip my [Capped][Staff], but is there anyone around on Quetzalcoatl Server with a [Capped][Polearm] that does a lot of [Damage] and has a [Magic Attack][Bonus] that’d like to join me in questing nookie?
Cuz if not, I’m gonna have to go back to my Level 1 Dragoon and level it up. My [Polearm] really is right at Zero, and it’ll take me a lotta time, I think, to get my [Polearm] to rise to any usable level.
