well after the release of the crack i decided it would be a great time to DL the RTM version of vista and get crackin since i never touched it before.
infact, as i type this i just noticed a new feature, Spell checking as i type in this post! nice!
ive played around with a bit of it, and i must admit it does take some getting used to with how different folders are and an array of other things that just are not where they normally were. (Run, Folder options etc.)
but im loving the desktop. They took some ideas right out of Desktop X and other xp skinners and added Gadgets.
These little things can be as simple as a clock on your desktop to a full mini game sittin there. God forbid my wife find the sudoku one...
i for instance have the weather, My gamer card and spiked humor daily videos gadgets on my desktop, you can move these anywhere you want and change them with some options and remove them whenever.
I used to have a CPU meter on here too but i removed it.
another feature i like and takes some time getting used to is the voice recognition which lets you control your entire PC simply by talking into a mic. type up a message, open a program, search for a song, browse the web. By voice alone.
Im still learning most of the phrases that help, but simply saying SHOW NUMBERS list a number for every clickable thing on the screen at the time and you just then call out a number and it clicks that number.
This little thing stays minimized in the task bar and sleeps when you tell it to STOP LISTENING, and starts up by saying START LISTENING. dont know how many people would use this, but ive typed this entire post just by talking. ROCK ON!!
These pictures were taken with a feature that comes built in that is small, but i love it. A built in snipping tool that lets you take captures of anything on the screen to your hearts desire. Small but useful and noticeable!
i havent tinkered around in the CP yet but heres a screenie of it.
I love the fact that when i installed and booted up vista i did not have to pull out my mobo disc and install the drivers for that or my video card, i didnt have to install sound or anything. Which i have always had to do on every pc i owned with XP on it. it connected to the net and downloaded it all for me. tho my audio drivers keep saying they are not made for vista and i need to get the right ones...which im doing now.
windows media center is built in, a blessing for those of us who own xbox 360s and didn't like being force fed media center PCs if we wanted to stream video content to our T.V.'s.
comes with a decent dvd creator that encodes nicely.
a switch between windows feature much the same as alt+tab
so far i havent noticed a significant change. once you get used to it...it feels like xp again with a bunch of added goodies.
more screens as i explore later.
