I remember in January/February of 2008 (While I was away from FFXI) I was also hospitalized for a week with a severe case of pneumonia. My lungs were full of liquid and I had to get so many tubes attached to me everywhere. They had to drain the fluids out of my lungs, I also had to be on oxygen a bit and they bandaged up my side where the tubes were, X-rayed me everyday, did blood tests on me every so often, and I couldn't pee on my own, so they had to put a tube up there as well.
In the middle of the week while I was in the hospital, they took me in to do a bit of surgery work to place a cleaning tube scope thingy in my lungs to clean out all the extra sockets of fluids around the lungs.
I was so happy to finally be released from the hospital after the week, and I know the feeling of being weak and having trouble walking, but after I left the hospital, I still had to keep intervenis of antibotics in me for two more weeks. I was still bandaged up in my side, which gave me difficulty sleeping. A nurse had to come to my place everyday to check on me and change the intervenis bags.
It was really troublesome and torture, and one of the doctors told me that if my mom didn't get me in the hospital when she did, then there could've been a chance that my lungs would've collapsed and I could die.
My case isn't as severe as Randy's, but I am thankful I've gotten through it and I'm thankful to my family and friends that visited me at that time.
I'm really glad to hear you recovered and overcame this, and I hope you eventually make your way to a complete recovery. ^^
