Let the flames begin, I can feel them coming anyway.

Alright, so, I know you've all heard this before. I'm sure all you higher level BST's know my plight, and I should just "deal with it" and normally I do. But lately the complete and utter stupidity that seems to have not only infected this game, but breed inside it, is getting on my nerves.

I'm lvl 58 BST. Barely 200 exp into that level, and I finally have my AF body. I haven't exp'd since then (about a week or so). Normally I don't mind dying, it's usually my own fault, and I have noone to blame but myself. I don't have a problem with this at all.

What I DO have a problem with, is the idiots who I am forced to level around from 56-60. Garlaige Citadel really isn't that bad as far as exp and pets. What really is bad is the parties. I don't mind exping around parties, I do mind exping around people who think they're better than me.

In the past few weeks (yes, it's taken me weeks to get from 56-58), I've received nothing but guff from the parties around me. I've been camped on top of every time I've gone to Garlaige. I politely warn people that it is very dangerous to camp on top of me. The usual response is "This is a two party camp, we can share"

NO WE CAN'T.

Parties stay in one spot, the only person who moves around is the puller. That's it. A BST requires room for the fight, ample room to get out of hate range to rest/castspells/get out of AOE, and room to allow a released pet to wander and regain HP without aggroing a party.

Parties do not understand this. They think it's a GOOD idea to camp on top of a BST fighting hellmines, then kill off his pets. The thing that really makes me laugh, is they have the nerve to blame ME when I end up dead on top of them, because I tried to run for my swap pet and got slammed with a beserked double attack for 3-400 damage because there wasn't one there; resulting in the bomb aggroing their party, blowing up, and killing the lot of them.

I've been threatened GM calls, and gotten into countless arguments and tiffs over this sort of thing. I've even tried to comprimise.

"Please, if you're going to try to share this camp with me, leave a few beetles around so I can get a pet when I need it without running all the way across the basement."

They say okay, and then completely ignore this request. I've died and delvl'd twice at 57 because of parties doing this. I try to justify my arguments, ya know, like a civilzed person.

-"Please, it's very dangerous for the both of us to camp here. I was here first, could you possibly try to find another camp?"

"The other camps are filled, we have no choice but to camp here."

-"Would you camp on top of another party if they were here first?"

"No"

-"So why would you consider camping on top of me? I'm just like a regular party. I'm getting exp here too, and camping on top of me is twice as dangerous as camping on top of another party, because a hellmine self destruct could take us all out in one fell swoop."

"You're only one person, we have 6 people here."

-"That makes your exp more important than mine? Suddenly because you have 6 people that gives you the right to force me out of my camp, deny me of exp, because you're more important"

*party doesnt' respond and just starts exping on my pets and every other mob near me, I continue pulling hellmines and stand my ground that it is my camp, and I will not be forced out.*

That's usually how it happens, and let me just say party responses were altered to look somewhat educated, rather than the thoughtless crapass AOL/l337speak you see so often nowadays. Usually one of two things happen:

1. I end up dead while running across the basement looking for a suitable pet, at least I'm away from the party so I'm only a little pissed off that I suffered a useless death.

2. My pet dies and I turn to grab my swap pet and find the party either exping on it, or having already killed it. I keep running but my HP is falling fast, and I end up dead close or on top of the party. The hellmine aggros them and ends up exploding, and the party starts the GM calls claiming I MPK'd them.

3. The extremely uncommon sequence of events. The party actually listens to me, realizing that it is very dangerous where I am and it would be best for them to move, and they do. We both continue happily exping and noone dies.

1 and 2 are both the bullsh*t scenario's I have to put up with every time I try to exp. I'm actually afraid to go exping in garlaige now because I know there's 80% chance I'm gonna end up dead and getting screamed at, and especially devlevel and lose my AF. Yes, I know, it's only exp and I can always level back up. But AF right now is sort of my prized possesion, I already deleveled once and was unable to wear it, but I was only 800 tnl and got it back relatively quickly (I logged on at about 3am and found a camp that wasn't taken).

Now I could go behind banishing gate number 2, probably get some really good experience. Problem is in my time exping in garlaige, I've only seen a party go behind gate 2 for whatever reason once. I don't have anyone or know anyone that would be willing to come all the way out to gate 2 just to open it for me, so my options for exping are as follows:

Garlaige citadel, and dying.

Lab of onzonzo, lvling on DC-T's that take forever to kill, and there's no safe camp at all. To be safe there I'd have to keep sneak and invis up at all times, which would limit my ability to issue pet commands, and heighten downtime considerably from always casting those two spells.

So as you see, this is quite frustrating, as Lab of Onzonzo isn't an ideal exp spot at all. I've done a few duo's at Quicksand caves, and they've been somewhat lucrative, but there's rarely 2-3 BST my level on at the same time (Beastmasters are EXTREMELY rare on my server). Usually I'm not so lucky as to land one of those situations.

This has been bugging me for a long time, and I can't wait till I can hit the Tree and start getting semi-good exp again. Or maybe go to Ulegrand range, I don't know, all I know is that it has GOT to be better than Garlaige. I've been seriously considering just partying from 58-60. I usually wear party-esque gear as I lvl: Spike earrings, Venerer and Sniper rings, Darksteel axe (I shouldn't have sold my Viking's ._.), Jaeger Mantle, Royal Knights Chainmail and breeches.

The only things that I lack the people might frown upon is that I'm wearing my AF helm, gloves, and feet. From what I've seen there's really no decent helms my level that would benefit me anyway, and I have battle gloves for my hands. I could buy feet gear and get Royal Knights boots, but I'm lacking in funds right now. I have a spike necklaces instead of a mermans gorget, which if I'm pushed enough I may get and party...

It's really depressing I've been pushed to something like this...Sorry for the long post, I just felt the need to rant.

You pretty much have every right to rant. Higher-up parties have devolved VERY, VERY Badly in the past few months...

And, uhm, have you tried Ulu. Range? Not too sure what the charm difficulty is on Tiger/Rabbits, but they should be DC-Tish and Snoll should be high T/VTish, I'll look that up in a sec.

By the way, this was also written up and posted on the boards on Alla first, thus the comment about servers.

Variable Hare - L58-61
Uleguerand Tiger - 58-62

Snoll - 60-63

So could work, but if I heard right you don't wanna charm higher than an EM, so you'd hafto manage to grip 58, and the exp wouldn't be stellar, maybe 150-250 depending on how many pets you go thru.. =\

Well the problem with Ulegrand range right now is that SE changed the mob layout of the area. They took out a lot of hares and replaced them with tigers, and moved the snolls so they are in a rather inconvienient spot. That's why many BST have been waiting until lvl 60ish to go to Ulegrand range, where they used to go at 58.

I have to agree with that statement...it seems the more and more people that get higher levels, the dumber the population gets. More and more original high levels are leaving the game beause of the incessant stupidity that seems to be sweeping the sever. It is becoming harder and harder to find a full party of competant people these days.

Also, I have a BST in my LS and he said XPing in Ulegrand Range (or whatever it is) is extremely difficult solo because of the aggro. So..I would recomment getting a partner to go there. :D

yeah, it's very difficult to exp in a duo becuase there are so few BST's. Hell, I'd be willing to trio with a RDM and a SMN, they'd just have to follow my orders.

No, I don't mean that like it sounds, I mean that they need to follow my instructions to ensure they dont' end up dead, partying with a BST is very different than with a normal party.

nah its not so bad Lecan :) If you want, send me a /tell sometime in game and I can run you around there and you can figure out where the best location for snoll/bunnies are. They didn't change it that bad, really.

Also, I know a lot of bsts that level in garlaige go behind gate #2 to xp cause NO one goes there. Again, if you need help getting behind gates, send me a /tell.

The more zones you know of to level at the better people. Only you can prevent Beastmaster's losing it and turning to the dark side.

Yes well, that's why the title of this post was called "near the breaking point" Because I've gotten very... very close to just dropping the code of honor I've lived by for 58 levels and MPKing any party that dares camp on top of me. It wouldn't be so hard really, a beetle or funnel bat left just a little too close, or accidentally fighting that hellmine right on top of them, like they seem to like to do to me with beetles.

However, instead of doing that, I've decided to take a little break for a bit. Not from the game, just from BST. Get a little of my sanity back before going to Garlaige Citadel again. Ish, I'll definitely look you up and we can go on an adventure to Ulegrand range, check out possible camps (hell if you have a job lvl 58ish we could duo, I've had much success duoing with SMN, RDM, WHM, and THF). I've also been given a heads up to Attowah Chasm, but I've yet to check that out.

Oh, and the job I'm taking a break with is THF ;), Anderithe, your job is hella fun XD Nothing like shankin' a mob for 120 damage ever 60 seconds.

But the point of this flame, wasn't to "deal with it" or to find alternatives. The point of this entire flame was to get people to realize that there are things that you shouldn't do, ethically and for safety reasons. Too many people care less about BST, becuase they're solo, when in fact there is one thing you should always remember:

You are not letting the BST exp near you, he is letting you exp near him.

LOL, hold it together Lecan.

Seriously though, with you at 58, and Kaikyaku and myself almost there, we should just set up a static trio for a few levels and see how it goes. I'm about 6k away from 58 now, unfortunately didn't level any on BST over the weekend.

As for the flame topic, I agree you have every right to your camp, but you'll never get it in Garliage. It's not called the Shitadel for nothing. The Quicksand Caves is so much better, and safer. I got killed by bombs twice in Garliage and that was enough for me.

I heard at 60ish you can trio Elder Goobbue in Boyahda with Mourioche, too, maybe a bit lower? I'll look into that..

I'm almost 21 with my BST, no comparison to you I know, but I've already run into the anti-BST haters. Some moron, who I won't bother naming, shot my sheep in Valkurm the other day when I went to recharm it. His single arrow made it claimed but it still agro'ed on me and I died since I couldn't recharm it. I HP'ed to Selbina and when I came back out he was dead on the ground near the zone...his only comment "it was worth it". Can't someone make the kiddies go outside and leave the rest of us alone?

Thank you.

Dont push me, cus i am close to the edge.........

I never do anything dick to BSTs purposefully but I must admit I'm usually very resentful when a BST levels near a popular partying spot. A bst using on beetles and bats in citadel can use up half the exp mobs for parties. Not to mention it's harder to get an entire party to go somewhere exotic and far more dangerous for them than certain areas that BSTs can level in. Several times I've exped and had my party completely wiped by a BST by them fighting a bomb too close to us. I wouldn't try to run a BST out myself but I can honestly sympathize.

I have to agree that people in parties in the higher lvls are getting stupider and stupider by the day. But, I have no choice but to deal.

As for BSTs and their camps, I completely understand if the BST is the first, it's his/her camp. I've always been one to leave the BSTs camp where they will regardless of how many parties around. There are mroe places to exp 48-50. So, let BSTs have their fun.

Well Lecan hopefully when I get back from vacation we can duo and maybe not get screwed over by assholes. Sad that there's so many of them now espically at our level.

I can completely sympathize with parties at this level. I know there aren't many places to go that are viable to parties, and USUALLY I have places I can go where parties do not congregate. I'm not in Garlaige because I like it, I'm in garlaige because at this level I really don't have any other viable options.

Like I said, I try to get along with the parties there, it just doesn't work out. I'm unwilling to just lay down like a bitch and give up my camp and they are unwilling to even try comprimising with me by leaving a few pets.

For the record, I only use 2 beetles, count'em, 2. That's it. Unless the pet dies off due to a self destruct, those are the only two pets I'll need because I'll swap back and forth between the two. So really the argument about taking up half the exp mobs there is sort of moot. Though, I do realize that there are BST who just leave pets all willy nilly and grab the nearest mob. I usually keep the mobs near me, as to not aggro parties and so I don't have to use more than 2 pets.

Honestly, it's bullshit what I have had to put up with here. Ya wanna know the most amusing thing about this? From the exploring I've done behind gate 2 when going for my coffer there, there is at least 1 or 2 viable camps there, where a party can exp off beetles to their hearts content. And ya wanna know something else? It's a HELL of a lot easier for a party to get behind the gate than it is for me, a single person, to do so.

Oh, and the job I'm taking a break with is THF , Anderithe, your job is hella fun XD Nothing like shankin' a mob for 120 damage ever 60 seconds.

Yeah, for all the crap I get when I say I'm taking Thief AND Dragoon to endgame they're both REALLY fun jobs. Early on they just rock, and the further you go the more you have to put into it.

I may not be the DD I was at 15-29, but damn if putting the hate from a 700+ Viper Bite on someone else's ass isn't fun.

Red Mage melee anyone?

Well for the most part I must say BST are not like you. The presence of 2 parties is fine, two parties and a BST and everyone's waiting 3 minutes between pulls. They'll grab everything, leave them, sacrifice them uncaring of the other PTs. Furthermore, pullers not used to partying around bsts will accidentally pulled leaved mobs and get 0 xp for the party. On top of all this, who really has the tools to push who around? I mean you can scream victim but you're the one with the ability to do damage to the party. All the party can do is claim a potential pet of yours. Beetles and Bats don't even do AE damage.
