Grrrrrr....

Okay, this is one of the those anime's I just haven't seen before well untill recently. I had always wondered what the hype about it was. Since I had heard of it, and had seen it on anime magazine covers and such. I just had never actually checked it out.

Well in Febuary(sp?) I went to a lan party with my roomate. A lot of the guys at the lan party had all kinds of media they were sharing. I got the second season of the Justice League from one guy, and the whole X-Men animated series... yes.. all of the episodes. (was huge, ended up deleting so my computer didnt brainfart. :( ) Well one guy had the whole Neon Genesis Evangelion series (or so I thought) well I copied it all since I hadn't seen it yet. I watched about the first 3 or 4 episodes before the lan party was finished. Went back home and hadnt really watched it again untill recently.

I watched through the whole thing that I had. At first it seemed pretty cool, infact it appeared to be a pretty awesome anime ...that is untill the last 2 episodes and to top it off, after I had watched the last episode that was in the folder.. i realized there was still one more final episode, #25 that was not in the folder. Apparently the guy I got it from had all of them except the last episode.. and that sucked.. i wanted to watch it. So I downloaded Kazaa and it took freaking forever, but within a few days I had downloaded the last episode.. it was in Japanese, but I wasn't gonna download another one, not after waiting 2 1/2 days of downloading. So i watched it. Everything made sense.. well not really, it made sense as much as the previous episode did (which wasn't much) and then it ended. Worst anime ending Evar! It's like someone fed the writers and artists crack while they were doing the last 2 episodes. It was completely abstract and opposite from everything that was the previous 23 episodes.

In short, the ending completely sucked ass. So, after watching that and being dissapointed, I watched the "End of Evangelion" which is basically 2 long episodes that replace the last 2 episodes in the series, as an alternate ending. Watched it, it seemed to be a bit better, untill it got to the end.. and then it got all f'd up and screwy like the other two last episodes were. It's final ending was pretty damn weak too, not to mention made no sense.

I was severly dissapointed in Neon Genesis Evangelion. It appeared to have a decent story, the characters where pretty good but then at the end .. it just screwed everything up. Everything before the final two episodes was good.. and then blam. Teh Suxorz.

I've noticed in a lot of anime this seems to be a trend. (not all anime, I have watched several that where good from start to finish) It just seems like an anime will start out interestingly, develope a good story, and then when it approaches the end, things just get screwy, and the story is all thrown off, or it just has a sucky ending, or no definative ending. Another good example of this is Berserk. Awesome anime even through to the last episode.. but it's ending leaves you wanting more because it.. well, doesn't finish the story. Now I know with Berserk they do continue it in Manga form, but.. pfft, I don't like manga's. I want my damn anime to have a good ending, especially(sp?) if it's a good anime.

At the last two episodes Gainax was just like Oops! <No Money!>

Go watch RahXephon. Shinji's a bitch.

A lot of series run over budget and the ending episodes suffer because of it. In a buisness sense it is best to hook your audience early and if the ending sucks so what (other than pride in your work) you've already hooked your audience and made your money. Then some series just try to encorperate so many subtext and a multitude of story lines that they just run out of time to develop a satisfactory ending to each small story within the overall story. Some people just try to be completely symbolic and I think part of the problem is in being American and not picking up on what a Japanese might through sybolism, some is because the director is just more well learned than myself and threw something in I know nothing about, and some are just because the Diresctor is weird.

Several series that I think started off awsome and suffered from endings that tarnished the overall impression I had of them:
Nazca
Neon Genisis Evangelion
Gasaraki
and I'll say Berserk simply because they end in such a horribly good way and there is no more anime coming... Apparently EVER! Thank god for manga.

I liked the Eva ending still, but yeah, go watch RahXephon.

Japanese people are simply insane. Or, we're the insane ones and don't understand their brains. Either way, I liked End of Evangelion, but not the other last episode.... that was screwed up. I flinched when I got a level ingame and everyone used auto-trans: (|Congratulations!|)

Did you watch Death and Rebirth? Or just EoE?

I personally liked every last episode it had. Maybe the translated versions I have with English voices makes more sense than the one you watched. I dunno.

It got about 35 thumbs up from me... >.> or somethin.

look, if you didn't get it watch it again... watch death and rebirth... keep watching... then suddenly you'll burst out into insane uncontrollable laughter at the entire thing... then you have understood evangelion....

The only part that disappointed me was that it lost all the action during the 2nd episode of End of Evangelion =/

That is so true  Either that or sudden a epilepsy crisis.

Unfortunately, when I had originally copied the whole folder with the Evangelion files in it. Death and Rebirth was in there.

But.. I didn't know what it was.. and it was the first file in the folder.. so I clicked it first. I watched a few minutes of it.. and was so confused out of my mind that I had to turn it off. I could tell this was something I wasn't suppose to watch yet, and unfortunately.. since the way it was arranged was so jarbled I thought perhaps some fan made it, cutting together different peices of the anime.. which when you havent seen that anime yet, is extrodinarily confusing. I could tell parts were in wrong places and the timeline jumping all over the place.. I ended up deleting it...

So.. now I dont have it.. and I kinda wish I did.. but ill be damned if I have to wait several days to download it off of Kazaa. So.. unless someones got a place where I can d/l the file .avi or maybe a zip with the avi in it... I don't think im gonna be able to check that out.

What I did watch was the whole series, and then End of Evangelion. And so.. it was in the very end, a dissapointment. Though.. so good up till the end. Cry for me Argentina.
