Nerf Treasure Hunter!!

I think if more melee weren't retarded and could keep a constant cycling SC it would eventually kill anything, with no mages for that matter.

With 18 people it is SUPER easy to always have someone at 100% TP and you can just keep the SC going on forever, compounding itself and mirroring damage over and over into an oblivian of pain.

It takes more effort, but you can deal damage far greater than any nuke that way.

Or you can just complain because its easier for BLM to deal the damage with less skill involved, which may actually be warented.

Thanks for proving me right about the kickball analogy.

Proving you right in what aspect? I never played kick ball, I played dodge ball  and rocked at it too. All you do is prove my point further. Let's expand on your analogy for a second. You are mad because your job which gets picked first is now going to be nerfed and picked last. Do you see the irony? Should I get the magnifying glass and point it out to you? Now it's ironic because you use this to imply my jealously of your job because my job might be picked last to do any event/BCNM/HNM. The only reason you could be pissed is because your job is going to be replaced by all those picked last and you'll be taking that place at the end of the line. So now who's going to be picked last for kickball? BLMs. Who's crying now? BLMs. Seems like you'll get a whole new perspective at the game now, huh? Probably not, idiots never learn.

You people flock to one in demand job or another thinking it's the solution and it's not. After this update, it's almost guaranteed that a thousand BLMs are going to want to be SMNs (atleast after everyone gets a little taste of BLU, PUP and corsair) and the result will be the same. You'll get nerfed again and wonder who fucked you over this time instead of taking the blame where it really belongs, squarely on your own shoulders. No one bitched, no one demanded nerf the BLMs to SE daily. What happened is SE saw what they perceived as an inequality or a lack of fairness in the game and they decided to fix it. Now you can bitch all you want and blame anyone you want for fucking you over, but I don't care about your sorry pathetic BS. I'll continue to play my BLM and I'll play it to the best of my abilities (which is hell of a lot more than I can say for 90% of BLMs anyways and it ain't even my main) and get this part, I'll still enjoy it. But I'll tell you one thing, while all you idiots are crying "nerf", I'll be laughing my ass off.

I'm just saying you come off bitter. Bitter at the fact that some jobs work differently and do some things easier then others. Bitter at the fact that some people cant/dont think they can do some things without the use of BLMs.

Am I pissed that they might fuck us over in the damage department? Your god damn motherfucking RIGHT i'm pissed off. Thats the only fucking thing that defines this god damn job. The only, ONLY, ONLY that defines this job. Some jobs are about DoT. Some are about tanking. BLM are about Damage, Spike Damage if you take that away what the fuck is the point of the job? To use a ton of MP to do low ass damage? How does this help the balance of the game? Especially if most of the things that this effect is endgame content which we dont even really see the benefit from.

And why do you assume that we care if someone gets picked over us? Its not that we will be picked last its that we will be doing less, much less if the RNG nerf is any indication. (missing on a TW at close range wtf is that shit) I dont care if BLM is picked last for Sky, theres nothing there for me anymore. I have that "one" piece of gear. If my LS thinks they dont need me anymore cause someone else is a better damage dealer, thats cool. I'll just level BST.

After this update, it's almost guaranteed that a thousand BLMs are going to want to be SMNs
yeah, all the RNGs who jumped ship cause they were upset that they couldnt crank out the same damage as they could before. Which rises an interesting question. Who do you think you are telling someone that they are less of a player because they crank out higher numbers and enjoy doing so? Who gave you authority over who is a "real" player and who isnt? Look down your nose at someone else. Dont assume that just because the job does a ton of damage that that is the ONLY reason someone goes to that job. Personally I like BLM cause i get to cast magic in game. Its not soemthing i can do IRL. Some people like the aspect that they can be an archer like Robin Hood or William Tell. Some want to be like Conan the Barbarian and do it up War style. So what if someone only gets juiced on the numbers? Does this affect you personally at all? Does this affect how YOU play the game? Why are YOU getting so uptight that you have to feel justified in acting like a total fucking arogant prick?

And I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw this shit.
I'll continue to play my BLM and I'll play it to the best of my abilities
You level BLM and you are FOR the nerf? GTFO! Damn I heard of some Uncle Toms in my day but you take the cake, even if it isnt your main. By the way, what job has the "privilage" of having your arogant, holier then thou self in it?

You know it's annoying when you BLMs come here and cannot even grasp simple concepts. If SE deems you too powerful, then you are too powerful. Who are we to argue? You all come here crying over spilled milk and the glass is empty. You bitch and moan as if the job is dead. It's not even close and it won't ever be. SE intends to modify some part of the job and give you something else in return. You should be happy you aren't a RNG or a BST and they intend to just take and destroy your job.

Then you are just some piss ass BLM who probably cannot even grasp the full potential of his own job. Half the BLMs come here trying to explain how it's bad idea to nerf BLMs because let's face the facts, it's your job and you want to preserve your job. But I have no compassion for you idiots. You flock to it because you want this or that when you have no absolute appreciate for the true potential of your job let alone anyone else's job. I like playing all jobs and I do not define myself by any one particular job. Granted, I cannot say my jobs are all 75, but I see most jobs as a fun new experience. I want to be able to go to Kirin as any job and say my damage was huge everytime and not just the times I went as BLM. I want to try different things because doing the same thing 99% of the time is excrutiatingly boring. I don't want things handed to me because I played X job. I don't want the game to be easy. I want to have fun and I want a challange, not some gimped event because we stacked 18 BLMs and pressed enter for our quick victory.

Uncle Tom? Not even close. The job is full of stupid shits and I want them weeded out. Simple as that. You people flock because you want easy mode and cannot hack anything more complicated than pressing enter. I want a game where strategy, thought and skill are actually involved and not some weak BS you call manaburning. Your answer to everything is manaburn and if you don't see that as a problem, you sure as hell will after the update. Wait till manaburns are dead and the only jobs worth anything are the cannon parties and SMNs. Or maybe just maybe, you'll stop crying about a small fix and realize BLMs will always be BLMs.

lavi, first of all, quit generalizing. I have played the majority of jobs, much like you have. Does that make me some dumb blm that needs to be weeded out? No. This vendetta you have against blm is not healthy. People from all jobs are just as stuck up. So fine, SE thinks blm is a powerful job. but they also say they dont plan to weaken it (i dont believe that but w/e). My question to you is, what should they do to other jobs they admit are too powerful, such as rdm and nin?

Yeah, its BECAUSE of the RNG, BST and DRG (now I wasnt here for that one, what spin did SE give when they crippled these guys?) nerfs that most BLMs know to expect some form of crippling. I hope its not as bad as we all think, but considering SE's track record we have a damn good reason to be concerned.

Then you are just some piss ass BLM who probably cannot even grasp the full potential of his own job. Half the BLMs come here trying to explain how it's bad idea to nerf BLMs because let's face the facts, it's your job and you want to preserve your job.
Stupid self-preservation... When are people going to learn not to get attached to or enjoy anything.

But I have no compassion for you idiots. You flock to it because you want this or that when you have no absolute appreciate for the true potential of your job let alone anyone else's job.
Again, acting bitter for God knows what reason and feeling validated in putting anyone in the same catagory of "only liking the job because of the higher damage output", not to mention anyone that just enjoys doing the job who tend to try and preserve how their job works GG.
I like playing all jobs and I do not define myself by any one particular job. Granted, I cannot say my jobs are all 75, but I see most jobs as a fun new experience. I want to be able to go to Kirin as any job and say my damage was huge everytime and not just the times I went as BLM.
Ok then, what jobs HAVE you went to Kirin as? And for the record, Kirin isnt the only mob in the game where people have to use multiple BLMs to do Spike damage. I suggest you read Tymon's post 2 maybe 3 more times so it can sink in and maybe you can appricate what the other BLMs have been saying. Its not arogance, its not being feared to be "picked last" its plain, simple, truth. Blame SE for mobs where you need spike damage enmass to do anything signifigant.
I want to try different things because doing the same thing 99% of the time is excrutiatingly boring. I don't want things handed to me because I played X job. I don't want the game to be easy. Then dont go to those events. There, problem solved.

Again acting as if you know every last BLM that plays the job and assuming that pressing enter is so much less complicated the timing when you press enter. OMG what was i thinking! Pressing enter at :10 is SO much less complicated then pressing enter when you hear the one SC parter call his macro! You've opened my eyes to what i've been missing. Oh wait, we've all done that before. With a nerf, yes manaburns will be gimped, but unless you are a 70-75 BLM who can ONLY get parties from joing a bunch of other BLMs then you have no right to comment on this and you have no right to find fault with our XP'ing this way.
Your answer to everything is manaburn and if you don't see that as a problem, you sure as hell will after the update.
The whole point of the job is to burn MP onto a mob, where in the brochure does it say we are there for anything other then nukes?
Wait till manaburns are dead and the only jobs worth anything are the cannon parties and SMNs. Or maybe just maybe, you'll stop crying about a small fix and realize BLMs will always be BLMs.
Again, being a bitter, arogant, prick for no reason and thinking "only the real BLMs like to do damage as the only BLM in a party". That works great when its an XP session from lvl 10-70, but being rewarded with total gimpage in endgame isnt right. It isnt "fair" as you were so eager to say about other jobs. Oh and how is it any different from BLMs to burn the cannons or SMN burns? Way to be a hippocrite.

Just to point out, SE never nerfed drg's. They nerfed getting full tp for each hit of a multi-hit weapon skill. Dragoon's weren't even the main target, it was the monks. Relic knuckles and a 8-hit weaponskill mean they could literally spam asuran fists all day long. And, due to the unique nature of hand-to-hand damage calculations, their damage wasn't horrible like it would be for every other weapon. The TP change itself effected every DD job, but due to drg's poor ws's, they're the ones who no one wanted anymore.

As for we need blm zerging to do anything endgame, I'm not convinced. It's certainly the main way most people go, but that doesn't mean it's the only way to kill the mobs, despite what all of the blm's tell us. If SE meant for there to be only one way to kill the mobs, then they would have only made black mage rather than the 7 melee DD jobs.

No one wants to nerf blm's just because blm's are powerful, the only reason they're being nerfed is because the only strategies anymore are "throw blm's at the mob until it dies." If you can't see that, then you're seriously blind. SE wants all jobs to be used and be useful, not just one. They said they wanted to stop blm zerging, but not kill the job, hence the change to nerf blm damage en masse. If you only have a handful of blm's in your alliance then it won't be a problem, but when all of your damage comes from having a ton of blm's then you're perpetuating the reason for this change.

You'd still be good in parties, you'd still be good on your own, but now you can't just grab a bunch of blm's and kill anything in the game anymore. God forbid you actually need other jobs to help kill something, where's my violin?

Can the community be nerfed? And when Summoner is the next stacked job of the month, does Summoner warrant a nerf? I agree that Black Mage is abused for its strengths. If they nerf it I don't mind. Still, does anyone think that nerfing Black Mage will make their job useful endgame or in missions? Anyone besides Summoners and future Blue Mages (maybe)? Nerfing Black Mage might bring better balance to the jobs, but it won't make unpopular melee jobs useful. To make melees useful, the mobs would have to be adjusted. My theory is that rather than melees ever being useful, the community will cycle between ranged jobs perpetually. After Summoner is nerfed, Blue Mage will step up possibly, maybe Red Mage will get a day in the sun, but eventually Ranger will be the best ranged damage again, and then Black Mage. It'll never be the melees having the fun because SE makes mobs that can't be fought straight up. It's sad. I want melees to get the fun proportionate to the items they need from sky. It only makes sense that the jobs with the most to gain would have the most participation in said event.

Yes, this is true. You dont "need" BLMs to do any one thing. But heres my arguement. If you dont want to play that way, start your own LS where you can get all the melees together and spam WSs. Leave the BLMs out. If you can kill AV without more then one BLM nuking, great! If not, then quit whining(and this is not a personal attack) about how many times BLMs go zerg something. You cant have your cake and eat it too on this one. You cant on the one hand say "We need a few BLMs to nuke." and on the other say "They nuke too much, take them down a peg."

Thats the thing. Many people already know thier job is useful in missions and endgame. They're designed to where everyone is useful.

Theres just the brainwashed masses who believe Black Mage is the only way to get things done. Even if the nerf is just a scare tactic, if it breaks that mentality, it worked in my book.

To compound on my last post: Promyvions. ZOMG RANGAR AND SUMMONER GOGOGOGOGO.

Ranger get nerfed, magically other jobs are being used as well? Notice that the other jobs weren't buff. They were already able to do the Promyvions. But the brainwashed masses dismissed them as being unable. Case in point.

Actually, I really can "have my cake and eat it too" as you're putting it. Of the 2 endgame shells that I have been in, neither of them had an abundance of blm's, so we weren't able to zerg anything we killed, we had to actually incorporate all of the jobs that came and it didn't hinder us at all. We did skillchains for the blm's to magic burst off of, and some of the melee just built up TP for spirits within. Yes, we used black mages, but we used every other job as well, with no one job in the majority, we still even use rangers.

There is a difference between using the job and abusing it, but most people cross the line into abuse and stay there. A handful of black mages is using them, but them being the majority or all of your damage is the abuse that SE wants to prevent.

Ok then great! You were able to take down things w/o the need for massive BLMs. But the nerf that it "seems" that they are proposing its going to have to do with, what I'm guessing, is a builtup resistance. Ie. If all the BLMs use the same spell its effect is reduced. Which means that as long as you have more then 1 BLM using the same spell, your screwed. Sure, you can go Light and have them burst all the different light based spells, but how long until that does no damage? Is it going to be carried over for as long as the fight lasts? Will it have a cooldown time to take away the effect? No one knows, so what we do is what we all would do if we found out our jobs are going to be "adjusted"... fear the worst. And any ranger here who has completly missed a too weak mob at point blank range with their 2hr can tell you what the worst is. This isnt some pansy bitchfest about not being able to do 1k damage, but instead doing 900. This is about hoping that the Devs dont cripple us from what we are MADE to do.

This brings up another interesting point. If you were able to take down NMs without the need for a ton of BLMs, why take away from the job? Just cause someone wants to play the game that they pay for their way? Cause "SE didnt intend for the game to be played this way"? Please, since when has that stopped anyone? Nins are tanks where before they were "supposed" to be a DDer. SMN was supposed to be a DDer and now they are a WHM without cure4 and R2. RDM is a support class, and now they are able to solo Gods(albeit for a longass time, but still).

In the end, BLMs arent hurting the game in the least by zerging. With the KS30, BLMs dont make it drop better items, with Divine Might they dont take away from anyone elses gameplay but their own.

Skaw said that "Theres just the brainwashed masses who believe Black Mage is the only way to get things done. Even if the nerf is just a scare tactic, if it breaks that mentality, it worked in my book." Sweet that means that we wont have some bandwagon job... for 3 whole months. Then when people drop BLM for the next "Onry way to take an HNM" then that job will get pissed on by the all knowing Devs over at SE and the cycle will start anew. Great! Soon we'll all have some piss poor jobs who cant take on anything because of people who want to exploit the game for their own benefit. Dont think that taking away from a job will take away from the mentality that propagates this bandwagon bullshit. Dont be so naive. It will just go from one job to the next till we can all be on the same level as a Melee BRD. Isnt it great a whole game full of characters that can hit as hard as the taru children of Windy!

The brainwashed masses believed Ranger was the only way once. They thought regular melees couldn't do much. SE nerfed Ranger and the melees were still considered useless. It took all of a couple weeks to bring in the Blms. You're half right. SE will break the mentality that Blm is the only job that can do stuff. They broke that mentality with Ranger as well. You're half wrong in that the jobs that aren't getting to do anything now will be getting to do any more than they are. So in conclusion, Blm's day in the sun is coming to an end, but the jobs that've been in the dark since day one will still be in the dark - except Smn. More than any particular job, the community likes fighting battles from as far away as possible. For the majority of the players, even if they win, they'll still lose. Whether you're spectating on the sidelines while a bunch of green berets have the fun, or floppy leather hats, or orange forehead cones, you're still sitting on the sidelines. All jobs having fun is the goal, and while a nerf will do something in humbling some egos, it won't really solve the root of the problem.

About the only thing a RNG is good for in promys is finding out where you need to go next. Good tanks are what make promys work. Without them you'll just have a bunch of dead RNGs and SMNs.

True, RNG tore up the bosses pretty bad before the nerf. But, he's still right. Without a good tank, the RNG wound up dead pretty damn fast. As was evinced in my first ever Holla run. Teach 'em to take a Taru PLD over the Galka.... :P

You could take a couple rng/nin's and you wouldn't need a tank at all. They just bounce hate around and use utsusemi to keep themselves alive. It was done all the time before the nerf.

I know what RNGs did prenerf, but this is now. I've seen it done a few different ways and it seems for the most people to come out alive you need a tank that knows how to play more than you need DD. Ofcourse 6 Astral Flows would probably still take down all the promy bosses.
