Anyone heard of any news of "Wings of the Goddess" expansion?
 
I've only seen the clip from the website. Haven't actually heard anything official yet, but hoping that they add more content and make more changes so some of the veteran players can come back/stay.

Would be kinda nice if we could see a few more jobs too, like another refresher and tank job.
 
We have 18 jobs, isn't that enough already? Another tank would be nice, but we've got tanking by not getting hit, and tanking by getting hit covered, there really arn't many other ways to do it. Just fucking fix Defense's effect on damage so WARs can tank without getting their face torn off, and that's the third tank job. Fix 2-hander calculations while you're at it so great axe will be a viable option for WAR.
 
Having a new thread on the expansion every month never hurt anyone.. lol. Shouldn't War be something like a tank job anyways? After all, it does belong to the 6 non-advanced jobs, so out of those 6 jobs one of them should be a tank one, but certain people preferred to use it for damage purposes instead.
 
When seeking for a party, usually the problem isn't finding a healer or a DD, but finding a refresher or a tank (at least in my experience). So thats why I said it would be nice to see a few more jobs that could fill those roles, or if SE could make some improvements on current jobs that are not so balanced (SMN, DRG, PUP) that would also be something nice to see.
 
Smn is pimp with buffs. We have enough refreshers. Another tank would be ~cool~ but I don't think its needed. I do thing more jobs will come doooowwwn the road, but its really not needed. That's just my opinion.
 
All I want out of another expansion is an implementation of the MMORPG staple ... a "/duel" command. That's it. Give me that, and I'll be happy. I'll send you my thirty bucks right now.
 
By far, finding a tank is tough, but it's such a teaser tho to see 3 tanks seeking and NOT One single healer in sight... UGH!!1

In anycase, i always wondered if Geomancer would be a possible tank, but using the elements to stoneskin, or blink or even spike damage with fire~ =P Dreaming is always nice..
 
Lol I saw this on playonline the other day and clicked it and nothing every loaded so I figured I was seening things or it would never load cause of my dial-up... Another expansion I can be months behind on... Yayyy
 
They haven't even finished Aht Uhrgans missions x_x

Was ToAU annonced before they finished CoP's missions?
 
personally i think any more jobs would be a waste, but to the whole "having another tank" discussion; Before the ZM expansion Pld, War, and Mnk were considered the tanks, Mnks being more of a mix DD and tank. That is one of the reasons why Boost, Chakra, and Counterstance originally generated so much enmity. Mnk and War both ended up being better DDs then tanks and so people forgot about them tanking, hell even Nin was originally suppose to be an enfeebler that didn’t use mp but is now considered a Tank class.
In the new expansion I would like to see the existing jobs tweaked just a little bit so they are more versatile. Such as Mai Ikari stated, fixing the damage taken by Wars and beefing up Gaxe would help a lot as well as having guarding skill and counterstance activate while shadows are up as would give the game 2 more tanks to chose from without adding more jobs. Oh and even Pup has proven itself to be a capable tank, Reya can easily testify to this. I would also like to see SE change up Pld some so the job can compete with Nins and Wars so there aren’t 100 lvl 70 Plds seeking for parties while everyone else is waiting for Nins to show up.
As for refreshers, I just don’t think there are a lot of Cors out there yet so people tend to overlook them as refreshers for now.

Also an excellent point. I always search for them when I'm looking for a refresher, seeing as I have to build almost all of my parties, and there rarely are any.
 
I figured it just be nice to get even more new stuff. God I would start over if they even added more races. I truely don't care if it was the lame ass excuse in a story line either.

Humes were Mining in Jeuno, then BOOM! You got 3 new races! Veiras!! some male/probly female wolf race (that be awsome as hell) and probly another wannbe taru race {male's onry?}

=P I truely wouldn't care, but I'm almost sure I'd start a new character to play as one of those.

I'll tell ya what this game needs, self imposed level caps. It needs to be a system where you can change your lvl anywhere, somewhat like switching from exp>merits like we got now. Think about it, getting merits while helping your friends exp a low lvl job...

New weapon classes would be cool.

I'd like to see the addition of rifles to add another dimension to RNG. Give them double the delay and 2.5 the damage of existing guns. Given the technology of FFXI, I don't see something like a black powder musket being too far out of reach.

Hand and a half swords with 1.5x the delay and damage of standard swords would be cool. Give DRK an A- rating in them and let them dual wield something good.

Give DRG an A- in staff and let them use Kinkobo/Primate's Staff so they can do blunt damage when it's called for.

Racial abilities would be a nice addition. Off the cuff:

Mithra: Claw Rush - does level based slashing damage to an enemy. 5 min recast.
Elvaan: Enhanced Hearing/Darkvision - by using their heightened senses, a player can better avoid enemies. Grants effect of sneak or invis for 2 minutes. 10 min recast.
Hume: Charismatic leadership - by using their natural charisma, the player grants +2 to all party abilities for 2 minutes. 15 min recast.
Galka: Rage. +10 STR, -10 acc for 30 seconds. 10 min recast.
Tarutaru: Hide. Using their small stature to their advantage, a player can escape the notice of an enemy. Effectively drops all hate and aggro from any mob that does not utilize true sight or true hearing. 30 min recast.

And please, please, please, please SE... give us a /punt emote!!!
 
The expansion won't be game changig, nor will it have godly equipment. It will be storyline-driven.

The team that made ToAU are the same team that ade RoZ. The team that are making the new expansion (WotG), are the same team that made CoP. Hence, it will be a CoP-esque expansions where people will ignore all of the good equipment added, such as Maneater, Blau Dolch, jailer torques, CoP-completion rings, ix'aern backpieces, parade gorget, low-level equipment and mid-level equipment, ENM's and their equipment, Limbus and its equipment, and the awesome storyline, and constantly complain about how much the expansion sucks and how it added nothing to the game, while at the very same time talking how gimp other people are for not wearing said equipment.

So yes, if you belong to said group of BG-esque hypocrites, then no, you will not enjoy the expansion. And you will, indeed, think it suck.
