New Future Avatars Planned way before???

Well for one thing, that solves the debate of what Alexander would look like in FFXI... not some massive castle following the summoner, but a mounted knight, like Odin.

But I'm more interested in the map... They have Altepa marked before RoZ release, and I'm almost certain that's Tavzania up in the corner of the first map... yet no Aht'urghan, which I would say confirms it won't show up on our region map. Most likely it'll be an entirely different region map for Aht'Urgan (and presumably the -next- expansion)

Pheonix and or Bahamut will be the next summons added. That rounds off the terestial Avatars. As of this point Odon and Alexander are NOT directly mentioned other then in the names of a few things, IE Odon gate. They may come out at a latter time but I have yet to see any hint of them at this point. Fenrir made apearances in high ranking Windurst missions and Diabolos in CoP. Pheonix's actual form has not been revealed (Well I have not seen it and I am at the BCNM before Sea). Bahamut HAS been revealed but I think they are going to save him and make him incredibly hard to get. Like you need to beat his quest line.
 
Gonna go out on a limb and say...

SMN don't need more avatars, they need more potent pre-70 avatar abilities.

Mind giving an example? I personally think SMN would be alot more popular if Hastega, Earthen Ward, and Lunar Cry/Howl were a little more effective. (Scalpelman's Hastega lasts as long as Haste, so SMN really is getting screwed on that deal)
 
I've been waiting for Odin since this games inception. If and when his lord of norse godsness finally comes out, I will give up the Drg and go smn..... well maybe not give it up, but I'll go all out on the smn.

I want to summon Odon as an avatar.

I see major Imba with Pheonix being added. The avatar in other FF's is notorious for full party raise. If, SE decides to base Pheonix off of the precious FF's we might see some trouble. Yes, Raisaga is nice.. but very very impractical. I mean.. could you imagine fighting gods or HNM or even wyrms? I think it would seriously imbalance summoners. I aggre with Ish though. It'd be nice if they would tweak some of smns earlier stuff :)

Well if they did give it a raisaga then it would have to have a range of effect.
The range i imagine would be reasonably small and assuming they made it standard AoE size (for spells that is...not sure if melee AoE is the same size) you still have to have about 3 people all on top of eachother. Of course to counter this i imagine end game ls's would just have everyone stand on top of everyone else...but thats where the nerfstick comes into play :P

Btw odin seems realistic, because i heard they are apparently giving BLM Death (please feel free to correct me if this is false), so giving them the king of 1 hit KO's doesn't seem very unreasonable. Although i imagine if they did give you him then he would have like an Auto-gain hate feature so you don't just have him go and slay everything while the tank laughs.
 
Summoner Raisega would be acceptable if it was R1 ONRY.

After all, Bards get Reraisega.
 
Or, Phoenix could work like it does in FFV, you know, where you select a single person to cast the raise on?

and I don't think Bahamut will ever be a summon, Dire :P
 
I don't see how Odin would work as an Avatar. In the previous games, all he did was Zantetsuken (instant kill), and in a couple of them his lance throw. I can see Odin making an appearance like Bahamut in CoP, rather than an Avatar.

Phoenix would be nice. Maybe two hour could be raisaga, or maybe even reraiseaga I-III depending on level. Then other BP's would be for healing like Cure/Curaga, Raise, Drain, etc.

Bahamut would make an awesome avatar, although I'm not too sure if they'd do that. I guess I'd have to go through more of CoP's story to find out what happens to assess it.
