New Job

I think its more likely to say that the hume female dancing around in the pub is the Dancer job quest giver, and hence why she dance much more advanced then the hume males in the background.

I mean, its an obvious CS. So its obvious that woman is an NPC. Or are we going to discuss tarutaru-only magics, just because a few taru NPC's know more advanced spells then we know?

I highly doubt we'll go jumping around like that NPC are in-battle.

Plus his attack in FFV and FFI: DoS is Worm Hole, although his summon attack in IX was something different, and a Wormhole is

I honestly think he's gonna be the one directly responsible for being able to visit the past. I am stoked for WotG

You are right. SE confirmed that you travel to the past through portals that look like him. I forget what the name was on the wotg site. So he's definitely the one responsible.

I cant wait for this expansion. Story looks gooood!

well it would surprise me if dancer was female only considering women have always gotten the best equipment in FF history, but that was because the men had better stats

edit: /cry

Important Notices:
-Dancer won't be female only
-Chocobo Knight won't be a new job

Okay, carry on

yeah, I mentioned up top a male onry DD job as the second possibility, but who knows what will be made of it

Not sure if a "female-only" job have an entirely different role than a "male-only" job would bode well, at all. If anything that'd probably be the most glaring imbalance SE's ever given the game, since one may make a good main or sub, while the other may not - and there'd be no way for half of the populus to access the other job, ever.

HoMEGawD There were no Mithruahs oar Taru oar elfs in thayt dancar vidyo, It is onlee a huMe F jawb.

Ruffy, you might want to try your hand with the whole "FEMALE ONRY" thing on Alla. I'm sure you'd get a much better response there.

Do you seriously believe that it would be a greater departure from the norm for Squeenix to make gender-specific AF .dats vice making gender-specific jobs? I really can't understand how you've come to this conclusion.

OSHI... I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!! Squeenix will be opening a 'sexual redefinition' clinic in Upper Jeuno! Rolled a Galka, but you really feel like a woman deep down inside? Dr. Monberaux will help you out! He'll take care of that adam's apple in no time, and who hasn't wanted to see a Galka with boobs? I know I have!

There, now we can have gender-specific jobs!

</sarcasm>

Kind of like when people were throwing a fit from the rumor of BLU's being introduced to the game. Surely SE would never make BLU's in FFXI, the game would be broken.

Come ToAU, they did. Search past qcdn topics if you like. Expect a surprise and stop being a cynical ass.

I personally cheered SE on, and weren't the least surprised when they made BLU. However, adding a BLU (which, mind you, both males and females can play), is very, very different from adding gender specific jobs.

If you didn't notice, SE keeps everything equal between genders. They don't make males have more STR than females, nor make female have more CHR than males. They make it equal. They don't want to limit the player, and limit what the player can obtain by chosing gender.

Sure, they somewhat walked away from that when they gave females a wedding dress. But like they said in an interview, they were considering giving males a tux. Giving females an entire job that males can't be, and vice-versa, would be walking away from gender equality by a long shot. It simply isn't something SE will do.

Obviously they will make it so that only only Mithras can be RNG's, since only a mithra RNG is seen in the vid and screenshot.

Not to mention I'm sure SE would have mentioned something about the job being gender-specific when they first released the job...

What I don’t see why SE couldn’t go back to the old games and implement a job advancement “system”/quest. It has been done before and could work in this environment. They are already adding jobs that are more or less combinations of other jobs that players aren’t too excited about and this way they can add a job but be blatant that they are changing this one job into something a little different. For example:

Monk upgrades to Master;
Would give a minor increase in stats
New Armor
Added weapons to be used (Nunchucks and Hand to Hand)
SE originally had Mnk planned out to be a tank, so give Master a better chance at being a tank with a better guarding skill (and easier to lvl up) and a stronger counter rate. It would give all those that complain about there not being enough tanks another job that could fit that role like mnk was originally meant to.

Ninja upgrades to ?(Hokage);
Increase weapon skills in other weapons such as Staff, Archery, Great Katana,
SE originally wanted ninja to be an enfeebler that didn’t use mp, so now they can “rework” the job into an enfeebler with better Ninjutsu and job abilities.
And not touch Utsusemi!

Warrior upgrades to Weapons Master;
Allow the upgraded job to have an A- skill in almost all the Weapons.
SE originally wanted this job to be versatile and be able to change for the needed situation, so make the job able to change from Tank, DD, Hate control, Puller with ease.

Mages upgrades to Sages;
Give a Conserve MP bonus to all upgraded jobs
Obtain spells at earlier lvls
White Sage’s Holy, Banish, etc. do more (a lot More) Damage
Red Sage’s have more DoT spells (FFXII had some new spells that would work nicely)
(I’m not much of a mage player so I don’t want to say something that would make the jobs become over powered)

I think you get the point...
now I’m not saying this is exactly what SE needs to do but something along the line.

By doing it this way the designers will get an influx of people wanting to lvl up the upgraded jobs and almost have it like it was when FFXI first came out and there were low lvl parties all over the place. Unlike now where there is only 1 or 2 lvl 25+ parties which was one of the concerns they have been trying to address with ToAU and now WoG with these New jobs.

Also This way people can’t arguing over the fact that X job is just a mix of Y and Z jobs or Job B is just another version on Job C without D. Because these jobs are versions of the latter jobs but upgraded and they wouldn’t have to worry about fixing the old jobs cause they can easily say “well that’s the way the job is until it is upgraded”

Mostly agree, though if I may add...
Gender-specific jobs would work but only, ONLY if they basically had the same abilities and stats or something of such close identical effect that the two jobs could be considered the same...i.e. if Bard were male-only and Dancer female-only and both gave more or less the same buffs/debuffs then such a thing MAY work...though this example is obviously not gonna happen since FFXI already has Bards and such.

Otherwise, yeah, anything beyond a cosmetic difference would just cause imbalance if there were gender-specific jobs.
