New Starcraft II trailer is up. :o

Raes likes turn based stategy games more if I remember.

Looks like a lot of flames heading Blizzard's way.... again!

Apparently, SC:2 is having some major compatibly issues similar to WoW's release. I picked up two copies today one for my boyfriend and one for myself. Mine works just fine and he gets an error at instillation. After talking with both Blizzard and GameStop, they both confirmed there are some issues with the game not being able to be read on certain computers. Expect a patch to come out in the next day or two for this issue.

mine worked without a hitch. i wonder how many of these issues are generated from the user side?
is it known why some pc's are having trouble and some aren't?

It has something to do with the disc drive. For some reason, mine could read the installation files, no problem. For other people, they are not as lucky. When I called my old buddy at GameStop he said the phone has been ringing non-stop for the same problem.

You could probably remedy that situation with a virtual drive, worth a shot at least since it's free. You own the game so none of this is illegal for you to do.

You're goin' to need two programs:

MagicISO: http://www.magiciso.com/
MagicDisc: http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-magicdisc-mount.htm

1: Take MagicISO and rip the image file from the game disc, barring the disc drive will even load the disc up before getting to the .exe.
2: When you install MagicDisc it'll create 1 or 2, I can't remember, virtual drives right then for you to use. Take your ISO you ripped from the disc and mount it to whichever one you like (try both if necessary).
3: After you mount the ISO simply double click the virtual drive icon (which should be representing that SCII is inside of it) and it should run the game just like it would run it in your disc drive. Thus allowing you to install the game.

After all of that, if the game requires you to have the disc in the drive to play, you can try to see if your normal drive will work for that process (it very well may). If not, just keep using the virtual drive until the patch or forever, it wont matter. If for some reason your ol' man has problems with the virtual drives he could also try another program instead of MagicDisc, there are tons of them out there I just prefer these. I'd be extremely surprised if this doesn't work.

You can also register your serial key over at battle.net and download the digital version free of charge. Means no disc requirement or swapping ISOs either.

Can be done with older Blizzard games too, and it's the best fucking thing they've ever done.

Yeah, what he said, that'd be much easier. After peekin' around though I haven't found anything about this being a disc drive issue, but yet an issue with hard drives formatted to the FAT32 file type instead of NTFS not allowing the game to install. It very well may be the disc drive, but check his hard drive to see what format style he's using first to rule that in or out.

He built both of our computers and they are pretty similar which is why we were both suprised when the disc wouldn't read. He downloaded the game over night and will try and re-install today when he gets home from work. I will let him know your guys' suggestions :) Thank you!!

Mine worked fine and I'm loving it :D such a fun game :P

Finally got the honey's version to work. I am already on mission 9 and totally in love! I can't wait to for some online action 8) The zerg... she calls me!!!

The Great Train Robbery is bullshit on Hard.

Hey, let's throw siege tanks and walkers at the player when they don't have any effective counter measures, WHILE they're trying to take down a series of scripted vehicles that are only around for a limited time and never stop. And attack their base constantly.

If your force that deals with the trains gets annihilated after the third or fourth train, you might as well just start over, you aren't going to be able to rebound.

So I am doing some missions and finished the one on Haven last night. I was given the choice of which side I want to help...
Here is my question for those who have done the mission:

Spoiler:
What happens if you decide to help the protoss instead?

Spoiler:
if you help the protoss you simply have to destroy the infested colonies and protect the ones that arent infested yet. the zerg will repeatedly try to claim group of free colony settlements. as for when you are done with that particular mission idk if the following cinematic is the same. but i never trust a scientist.

I don't really like the scientist >_> I was so glad when she left. The protoss chick looked awesome but I had to go with WWRD (what would Reya do). So I helped the peoples v_v and got zerg points...! Now I have robot kitties!

I think I may go pick this up. Sounds pretty decent.

I completed the campaign yesterday morning, campaign was awesome. A quick tip, though:

Spoiler:

On "Media Blitz", kill the Science Building to the SE, or you won't be able to get 100% completion. It opens up an awesome secret mission. You won't be able to open up this mission in the final missions once you leave the ship, so get it done before you leave the ship.

Additionally, when given the choice whether or not you want to kill the Nydus Network or Sky Platform, choose sky platform... You'll get absolutely overwhelmed by brood lords and mutalisks in the final mission otherwise. Ground units are much easier to deal with.

If anyone's playing on an EU server, my username is "Demonsteel", add me if you want. I'm not very good, so if someone's playing on an EU server and want to teach me some, I'd be grateful :3 I got placed in Silver League after initial placement matches, and I'm getting ass whooped :(
